After three months of competition, “Project Runway All Stars” season six ended on Thursday night, April 5, with its season finale episode “Making Fashion History.” The episode concluded a two-part challenge in which the designers were tasked with creating six-piece collections inspired by American history. So who prevailed? Scroll down for our complete minute-by-minute live blog with all the latest developments as they happen.
Last week, in “History in the Making,” Ken Laurence was eliminated before getting a chance to show his collection and compete for the title, leaving Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams in contention to win. That was after the four competitors showed a preview look from their collections to the judges. But since the judges already saw one look, the remaining three had to design more piece, for a total of seven each.

“Project Runway All Stars” concludes its sixth season on Thursday, April 5, with a battle between the three final designers: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But are those the best three designers from the whole season? We asked our readers which of the 13 eliminated contestants they would bring back, and more than half of them were split between just two names: Ken Laurence and Amanda Valentine. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.
Laurence led our poll with 26% of respondents saying he deserves to return to the competition, which is impressive considering that he only just left. He was eliminated in fourth place in the penultimate episode of the season, “History in the Making,” in which he had to design a six-piece collection, then show the judges one signature look, and then compete in a surprise one-hour design challenge, but after jumping through...

After 12 episodes of “Project Runway All Stars” season 6, the show is down to its 3 finalists: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But what about the 13 contestants who came and went along the way? Our readers didn’t see eye-to-eye with the judges about multiple eliminations, so if they had their say we might have ended up with quite a different finale lineup. Which eliminated contestant would you most like to bring back to the show? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The elimination that shocked “Runway” fans the most was arguably Amanda Valentine, who according to our early polling was the front-runner to win the entire season. For the first time in “Project Runway” history — including both “All Stars” and the original series — the final five designers are all men: Edmond Newton, Fabio Costa, Anthony Williams, Stanley Hudson and Ken Laurence. That was a statistically improbable outcome given that women outnumbered men nine-to-seven at the start of the season. The only men eliminated were Carlos Casanova and Joshua McKinley. So we asked our readers what they thought of the lopsided victory for the male designers. Did the judges get it right, or did the women deserve better? Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Our respondents actually thought the judges did a good job picking the final five. A slight majority (53%) said the remaining designers really are the best of the best. That’s a little surprising given how passionately our readers have disagreed with some eliminations, including Amanda Valentine and Helen Castillo.

“Project Runway All Stars” eliminated Helen Castillo in Thursday night’s episode, “Rock Your Face Off.” That leaves five designers in the competition: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. All five of them are men, which is not only unusual but historic. This is the first time one gender has swept the top five in the history of “Runway” — not just the 6 seasons of “All Stars,” but also the 16 seasons of the original series.
It’s all the more surprising in this season of “All Stars” because the women actually started out with the numbers advantage. There were an even 16 contestants at the start of the competition, but 9 were women while only 7 were men. However, over the course of the last 10 episodes all 9 women were eliminated compared to only 2 men who suffered the same fate. Carlos Casanova was booted in the season premiere, and then...

As of this writing “Project Runway All Stars” season 6 is down to its top 6 designers, whittled down from 16 after nine episodes of challenges where the panel of judges have knocked out the unsuccessful fashion hopefuls one by one. But what do you think of the judges themselves? Scroll down to vote in our poll.
Actress Alyssa Milano has hosted the show since season three in addition to serving as a judge. She evaluates the designs every week alongside famous fashion designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman, who have been with “All Stars” from the very beginning. Our readers have been at odds with the judges for a while this season on “Project Runway All Stars,” objecting to many of the recent eliminations like Amanda Valentine, Char Glover and Kimberly Goldson. But when the judges decided to send home Merline Labissiere in “Mizrahi Madness” our readers agreed. Scroll down for the complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Labissiere was the right choice for elimination according to almost three-quarters of “Runway” fans who voted in our poll (74%). Judge Isaac Mizrahi, whose own artwork and designs inspired the challenge, said Labissiere’s architectural look “didn’t come across,” and Alyssa Milano thought it was forced. It wasn’t all bad, though. Guest judge Carmen Dell’Orefice said, “There was something in the back [of the design] that told me she has design in her.” And Georgina Chapman gave her credit “for giving us an intention and pushing the boundaries.

Helen Castillo is the last woman standing in season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” Is there a chance she could win the whole competition, or is she doomed to be eliminated just like every other woman on the show?
The season started with 16 contestants: 9 women and 7 men. After 8 episodes the show is down to 1 woman and 6 men. Carlos Casanova was eliminated in the season premiere episode, but then the women were picked off one-by-one: Kelly Dempsey in “Damsels in Distress,” then Ari South and Melissa Fleis in “Perfect Pairings,” Candice Cuoco in “Balls Out,” Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” Char Glover in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” Kimberly Goldson in “A Kick in the Astro” and Merline Labissiere in “Mizrahi Madness.”

The roller-coaster ride is over for Merline Labissiere. During her eight episodes on “Project Runway All Stars” she had what might have been the most inconsistent run for any contestant on the show. But that ended in “Mizrahi Madness” when the judges threw her off that roller coaster at top speed. She was eliminated in eighth place. Do you think the judges made the right call? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Perhaps Labissiere’s ouster is actually overdue. After “Fashion’s New Superheroes” our readers thought she should have been eliminated instead of Amanda Valentine. Then in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” she was also our readers’ choice for elimination, but it was Char Glover who was sent packing. Another one bites the dust — and by that I mean, yet another woman is eliminated on “Project Runway All Stars,” the seventh in a row out of eight eliminations thus far. Kimberly Goldson was eliminated from the show in episode seven, “A Kick in the Astro,” even though it was the first time she had even gotten a low score from the judges. She actually got high scores in “Perfect Pairings” and “Balls Out.” So did she really deserve to be sent home in this avant garde challenge? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know.

“Project Runway All Stars” fans weren’t pleased when judges Alyssa Milano, Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman decided to eliminate Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes.” Up until that point our users thought Valentine would win the season, and 93% of respondents thought she deserved to stay in the competition. So after Char Glover was eliminated the following week in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” we asked our readers again if the judges made the right call, but it looks like the judges missed the mark again. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.
Glover’s elimination wasn’t quite as controversial as Valentine’s. This time only 64% of readers thought the judges were off base — a mere two-thirds. That left 36% who thought Glover truly had the worst design, and Glover might not even disagree with that assessment as she admitted to...

“Project Runway All Stars” season six was down to its top 10 contestants in episode six, “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” a unique design challenge in which the classic cartoon character, created in the 1930s, tasked the designers with creating young, chic Hollywood looks. Will Helen Castillo be eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in episode six? That’s what the “Runway” fans we’ve polled are predicting. This is actually the second week in a row our users have forecast her downfall, but she advanced safely through episode five, “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” despite getting on the judges’ — and her fellow contestants’ — bad side the week before in “Balls Out.” If her luck does run out in tonight’s episode she’ll be the sixth woman in a row to get her walking papers.
As of this writing Castillo leads our predictions with odds of 5/4, which translates to a 44.25% chance of elimination. In addition to her low score and controversial behavior in “Balls Out,” she also had a low score in the first episode when her team of “All Stars” veterans lost the season-opening team challenge. Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” is ostensibly a battle between veterans who have appeared on “All Stars” before and rookies who are competing in this spin-off series for the first time. However, after five weeks of competition we’ve seen a different competitive split: between men and women. And it’s not looking good for the women so far. The female designers have been dropping like flies.
The season started with 16 designers overall: 7 men and 9 women. But the early results have been lopsided. Five out of six eliminations thus far have been women, while five of the six design challenge winners have been men. At least one of those eliminations was a surprise: Amanda Valentine was the front-runner to win the competition according to our racetrack odds going into “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” but she was eliminated, which 93% of our readers disagreed with. There has been a big shakeup in our predictions for who will win season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” Every week we’ve polled fans for their picks, and based on their combined forecasts Amanda Valentine was the front-runner to take the title for the better part of a month. So it came as a shock when the judges eliminated her in the episode “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” ending her run in 11th place. Where has the momentum shifted since her ouster? To Anthony Williams, who has been consistent in impressing the judges all season.
As of this writing Williams leads our predictions with odds of 7/5. That translates to a 41.76% chance of victory, and it’s way up from last week when he placed third with 11/2 odds, or a 15% chance of winning. The season got off to a slow start for Williams when his team of veteran “All Stars...

Our readers thought Amanda Valentine would go all the way in season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” She was the front-runner to win going into the February 1 episode, “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” so it took us by surprise at the end of the challenge when the judges sent her packing in 11th place. Fashion can be fickle like that, but did she really deserve to be eliminated for her design, a geometric dress in shades of pink inspired by female heroism? We asked our readers, and their answer was a resounding no.
So who deserved to get the boot? According to a whopping 77% of respondents, it should have been Merline Labissiere, who designed a square-shouldered look that was described as something out of “Star Trek” or “Star Wars.” It also featured elements the judges had already seen from her in previous challenges, so they weren’t impressed. In our weekly predictions for “Project Runway All Stars” season six Amanda Valentine was the front-runner to win for the better part of five weeks. So it came as a shock that she was eliminated in 11th place in Thursday night’s episode, “Fashion’s New Superheroes.” Did she really deserve to go home so soon? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The challenge for this episode required the designers to take inspiration from Rodial beauty products and translate those products into fierce designs to unleash their models’ inner superheroes. Valentine got “Pink Diamond,” and she struggled early on to wrap her mind around the concept because she didn’t know much about superheroes and the color pink was outside of her comfort zone. But she put in extra effort — maybe too much effort? — to create a complex color-blocking pattern that created a strong, geometric effect on the runway.

Helen Castillo narrowly avoided elimination in episode four of “Project Runway All Stars.” Not only was her unconventional ball gown in “Balls Out” not to the judges’ liking, they also disapproved of how she handled her critiques, disparaging her fellow designers’ methods and style choices. That was the second time in four weeks that Castillo has had one of the lowest scoring looks in a design challenge, so she may have a target on her back going into episode five tonight. Our users think she’s out of second chances and will be eliminated. Do you agree?
Every week we poll “Runway” fans for their predictions, and as of this writing Castillo gets leading odds of 19/10, which translates to a 33.96% chance of elimination. But perhaps she’ll be scared straight by last week’s close call and step up with her next design. That’s what happened to Stanley Hudson.

Amanda Valentine holds onto her lead in our “Project Runway All Stars” predictions to win season six, but how long will that last? She sailed safely through the first three weeks of the competition, but she received a low score from the judges in episode four, “Balls Out.” Now the “Runway” fans we poll every week for their picks in our predictions center say Valentine needs to watch out for Fabio Costa, who is on the rise.
Valentine remains in our top spot with leading racetrack odds of 9/5 as of this writing. That translates to a 36.02% chance of winning the competition, but after struggling in last week’s challenge she has lost some ground; going into last week’s show she had 13/10 odds, or a 43.78% chance of winning. Anyone can have an off week, but she might start to plummet in our odds if she can’t recover on Thursday night’s show.

If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.

Part one of the two-part "Project Runway" finale began with the final four designers – Char Glover, Kini Zamora, Amanda Valentine, and Sean Kelly – being flown to Rome, Italy, to take inspiration from one of the most historically rich countries in the world. Psst: Here's how to predict reality TV shows and win bragging rights And prizes! Glover has struggled throughout the season, coming back from elimination after being resurrected by the Tim Gunn Save. This season of "Project Runway" has been all about second chances – and sometimes third chances. But not everyone has gotten the benefit of the doubt. Which eliminated designer do you think most deserves another shot at the competition? -Break- 'Project Runway' poll: Which top 5 designer deserves to Win? At the very start of the competition, Amanda Valentine was brought back to the series by viewer votes after having been eliminated in season 11, and now she's in the top five. Char Glover, has had even more chances. She was the recipient of the Tim Gunn Save, and then another, more indirect save a few weeks later when she had a last-minute zipper catastrophe. I bet Korina Emmerich wishes she had another chance. After winning two challenges, she resented having to face off against Char in a head-to-head tie-breaker for elimination, which she lost, and she left the show indignantly.

Last week on "Project Runway," Korina Emmerich won her second challenge of the season, impressing judges with the stylish leather jacket she designed for a nonprofessional model she recruited from Washington Square Park. But even before she won, she bragged about her designs, not just this week but throughout the season, arguing that she stands out from the pack. -Break- 'Project Runway' recap: Designers find their muse, Tim Gunn makes two controversial calls In our recent poll, readers voted Emmerich as their least favorite designer among the top eight with almost half the total vote. Her latest bout of arrogance and trash-talking probably won't win her any new fans. But on the other hand, she has now won two challenges; only three other designers among the remaining six competitors have won challenges (Sean Kelly has three wins, while Kini Zamora and Amanda Valentine also have two). Is she right to be confident?...

The remaining 15 designers on "Project Runway" weren't expecting an unconventional-materials challenge this early in the competition. It brought out the best in some of them and the worst in others. "Project Runway" wasted no time at the start of season 13. Several new twists and turns are in store for "Project Runway" viewers, as the fashion reality show is set to return for its 13th season next month.
Three former contestants -- Ken Laurence (Season 12), Alexander Pope (Season 12), and Amanda Valentine (Season 11) -- are vying to return to the series via an Instagram campaign, the winner of which will be revealed during the season premiere. That lucky designer will compete against 18 new contestants, and three people total will be sent packing before the first challenge is even revealed.
Variety reports that that challenge will involve designers "using only a trunk of fabric to create a look that reflects what their spring collection would look like if they were to present at New York Fashion Week." A handful of finalists will ultimately complete said collection to vie for the "Project Runway" crown.
A list of guest judges was also revealed. They are:...

Designer and former ‘Runway’ contestant Michael Costello talks us through the Season 11 premiere episode in his latest recap. The latest crop of designers learn that this entire season will focus on teamwork — which can only mean even more drama!
“You’re only as strong as your weakest link,” Tim Gunn says as he and Heidi Klum reveal that Season 11 of Project Runway is going to be a team competition. Even though there is no I in team, only one will come out as the winner of Project Runway. Let’s see if “team work really makes the dream work,” as was proposed in the episode. This should be interesting…
Does working in teams mean there will be less drama between designers? I’ll miss the old Project Runway but I’m so excited to see how designers work and grow with the input of a team this season.
