Hangmen, Martin McDonagh’s Olivier Award-winning comedy that became (seemingly) an early casualty of Broadway’s 2020 Covid shutdown, has gotten a reprieve: The play will begin previews at Broadway’s Golden Theatre on Friday, April 8, with an opening night set for Thursday, April 21.
Co-starring in the limited 10-week engagement will be Alfie Allen, best known to American audiences for his indelible Game of Thrones portrayal of Theon “Reek” Greyjoy, and David Threlfall, returning to Broadway for the first time in 25 years.
The Royal Court Theatre/Atlantic Theater Company production of Hangmen will be directed by Matthew Dunster, who directed the pre-shutdown Broadway staging that co-starred Downton Abbey‘s Dan Stevens and Game of Thrones‘ Mark Addy as Harry (now to be played by Threlfall).
Prior to the shutdown, Hangmen began previews at the Golden on February 28, 2020, and was scheduled...

Several years after a falling out with her family in Detroit, a young woman returns to the city she grew up in to mourn the sudden death of her twin brother. Upon meeting her brother’s eclectic group of friends, stepping into the scene he belonged to, and navigating the urban playground that is Detroit, she soon discovers that his death is not what it seems.
Given the rising cost of living and stagnant wages, the famous saying that goes “You can never go home again.” Is more like “You can never leave home.” However Time Now does feature a protagonist, Jenny, who has left home, only returning to sort things out after the death of her twin brother.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by the filmmakers. Director: Andrew Robertson. Writers: Lilly Kanso and Andrew Robertson. Cast: Sebastian Beacon, Chris Kies and Carter Roy. Tagline: "Stay Hidden, Stay Quiet, Stay Alive." Refuge is a small post-apocalyptic film from first time director Andrew Robertson. The film is shot in a very bleak style, reminiscent of John Hillcoat's The Road (2009). The colours look very grey. As well, the story offers desperation. A small family is stuck in their home as a pandemic still lurks on the horizon. Anyone can catch a deadly, new sickness, which is resistant to antibiotics. Still, life must trudge on. Robertson's film offers a few compelling action scenes. But, Refuge also offers a few strange turns, in its short seventy minute runtime. The story begins with Jack (Carter Roy), Kyle (Chris Kies), Nell (Amy Rutberg) and Birdie. This loose knit group...
