Her star has been rising quickly in 2013, but Ariana Grande just hit a bit of a snag as she's just been smacked with a lawsuit for copyright infringement.
According to Plaintiff Minder Music, the "Sam & Cat" star's song "The Way" is a ripoff of the 1972 song, "Troglodyte," by The Jimmy Castor Bunch.
In its complaint, Minder says the "Troglodyte" lyrics "What we're gonna do right here is go back, way back, back into time" are substantially similar to Ms. Grande's "What we gotta do right here is go back, back in time."
However, according to the 20-year-old singer's rep, "the alleged offending materials were not provided by Ariana, and we trust that the co-writers and producers will resolve the claim with Minder."...

As the saying goes, big things come in small packages. Ariana Grande, Sony/Atv, Umg Recordings and others have been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit over "The Way," which spent 26 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year. The plaintiff is Minder Music, a UK entity which owns rights to songs written and recorded by The Jimmy Castor Bunch, an American disco and funk group that achieved success in the 1970s.
