The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers may be basking in the limelight of the biggest football weekend of the year - but they're not the only ones playing ball. And they certainly don't have Hayden Panettiere on their teams. Celebs like Panettiere, Matthew Morrison (as an assistant coach) and Jerry Ferrara took to the field in Dallas on Saturday for a star-studded game of flag football, hosted by Directv. The Celebrity Beach Bowl pinned stars like Glee's Chord Overstreet, Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr and Chace Crawford - who were on Team Spike - agains, True Blood's Joe Manganiello and Josh Duhamel,...

The fifth annual Celebrity Beach Bowl on Saturday (Feb. 5) wasn't all that beachy, and not just because it was played in landlocked Dallas.
The lack of nearby water wasn't the issue -- because sand can be imported anywhere. It was more the fact that the temperature was less than 50 degrees at kickoff time and that the game was played inside a heated tent. The chilly weather probably explains "Glee" star Chord Overstreet's choice of warmup attire.
Overstreet lost the coat once the game started, joining the likes of Matthew Bomer, Hayden Panettiere, Josh Duhamel, Marisa Miller, Jessica Lowndes, Chace Crawford, Jessica Szohr and Joe Manganiello on the sand. NFL quarterbacks Eli Manning and Colt McCoy served as coaches for the two teams, while "Glee's" Matthew Morrison and New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez were their celebrity assistant coaches.

I don’t have DirecTV, but that doesn’t stop me from marveling each year at the announcement of its roster for its annual Celebrity Beach Bowl. The fifth no-holds-barred flag football game will take place Saturday in Dallas in a specially constructed 10,000 seat stadium, complete with a regulation size sand-filled football field. Per the release, the festivities, which kick off with an hour-long pre-game show at 1:30 p.m. Ct, feature a first: Glee’s Matthew Morrison and New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez have been tapped as “celebrity assistant coaches” to the real coaches, the New York Giants’ Eli Manning...
