Steven, which will focus on singer’s early life of dead-end jobs before his success with the Smiths, is set to begin shooting in April
War and Peace star Jack Lowden will take the lead role in Steven, a biopic about the early life of the Smiths singer and solo artist Morrissey, producers have confirmed.
Lowden, who played soldier Nikolai Rostov in the BBC’s hit adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel, will perform songs including Smiths single This Charming Man in the biopic, according to reports.

Paul Dano ("12 Years a Slave") Lily James ("Downton Abbey") and James Norton ("Belle") are set to lead the cast of the film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s epic novel "War and Peace" at The BBC and The Weinstein Company.
Dano will play Pierre Bezukhov, James is Natasha Rostova and Norton is Prince Andrei Bolkonsky. Also onboard are Stephen Rea ("The Shadow Line") as Prince Vassily Kuragin, Ade Edmondson ("Blood") and Greta Scacchi ("Brideshead Revisited") as Count and Countess Rostov, Jack Lowden ("The Tunnel") as Nikolai Rostov, Tom Burke ("The Musketeers") as Dolokhov and Aisling Loftus ("Mr Selfridge") as Sonya.

12 Years a Slave's Paul Dano will lead the cast of War and Peace.
The actor will star as Pierre Bezukhov in BBC One's upcoming adaptation of the Leo Tolstoy classic, which will air in 2015.
James Norton (Grantchester) will also star as Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, alongside Downton Abbey's Lily James, who has already been confirmed to play Natasha Rostova.
Norton said: "I'm thrilled to be entrusted with Andrei in this exciting adaptation. It's a privilege to bring to life one of Tolstoy's wonderfully rich and conflicted characters.
"And to get to work alongside talents such as Tom Harper, Andrew Davies, Lily James and Paul Dano is very exciting - I can't wait to get started."
