Grammy-winning performer Brandi Carlile has added a trio of special Nashville performances to her tour schedule, with three shows at the historic Ryman Auditorium set for January 2020. Joining the “Party of One” singer for these shows will be Kim Richey (January 14th) Lucie Silvas (January 15th), and, on January 16th, Natalie Hemby, who recently joined Carlile, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires in the side project the Highwomen. The supergroup, a female counterpart to the Highwaymen, was Shires’ response to the lack of female artists being represented at country radio.

Nashville dream pop artist Katie Herzig has a knack for creating intensely complex soundscapes with a minimalist touch. Her latest video for "The Waking Sleep" is a beautiful and hypnotic mural that floats you through the song in a pleasant daze. The visuals are a representation of that odd feeling you get when you are half asleep and half awake in the throws of a lucid dream. Then, right as you finally take control of your subconscious and the dream hits the crescendo, the light shines in through your eyelids and you get yanked back into the real world of wakefulness. “The Waking Sleep” is off Herzig's critically acclaimed album of the same name but the video from director Shih-Ting Hung just dropped this month. And if it wasn't obvious from the paragraph above, the video's fantastic. Herzig's music has been all over the place the last few years. You...

New Year's Eve: It's either a time to celebrate renewal and the hope that comes with a new year, or a time to gripe about "Amateur Hour" as you dodge puddles of alcohol-induced puke on the sidewalk. We're guessing the upcoming ensemble rom-com "New Year's Eve" from director Gary Marshall ("Valentine's Day") is going to be taking the former route rather than the latter, so it stands to reason that the soundtrack would be stocked full of uplifting party anthems that would fit right in on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. And so it is.
Most of the music here is licensed, so you'll have heard it before - P!nk's ubiquitous "Raise Your Glass" retains its pop charms, although we're wondering if it'll fully have worn out its welcome by the time Dec. 31 rolls around. We also get a visit from the Goo Goo Dolls (remember them?...

Whether it's creepers getting down under the mistletoe or trying to catch a cab home with a case of the champagne hiccups, New Year's Eve has the tendency to be a bit of a s#!tshow.
Even if the soundtrack for your evening ends up being the sound of drunken revelry, you can still have a perfect holiday, thanks to Garry Marshall's upcoming comedy "New Year's Eve," the soundtrack listings for which were announced today.
The movie, which stars Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Hilary Swank, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jon Bon Jovi, Zac Efron, Josh Duhamel, Jon Bon Jovi, Katherine Heigl and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, to name a few, has an equally star-studded soundtrack featuring some of the film's stars, much like Marshall's 2010 ensemble comedy "Valentine's Day."

The first thing I think about when I hear the name Grey's Anatomy isn't McDreamy. It isn't McSteamy, hospital shootings, ever-changing love quadrangles, or even ghost sex. No, my first thought about Grey's Anatomy always goes straight to the music, as the ABC medical drama has utilized music beautifully in its nearly 150 episodes. Getting a song placement on Grey's Anatomy can be a huge thing for an artist's career and you can't say that about too many shows on TV.
Which is why the fourth soundtrack volume, scheduled to be released on September 13th (according to Billboard), could be a big move for its 14 featured artists, particularly those that are looking for their big break. For every Cee Lo or Lykke Li that have had mainstream success, there's a Scars on 45 getting their song used in a promo, indie favorites like Lissie or Graffiti6 that may not have had such wide exposure,...

Secrets and mysteries aren't the only thing you can count on each week from Pretty Little Liars.
There's also the show's song selection, which always seems to fit well with every scene, doesn't it? Each week, we update our Pretty Little Liars music section with a sampling from each episode.
For example, the following singles were played in "If at First You Don't Succeed, Lie, Lie Again."
Katie Herzig - "Hey Na Na" Allie Moss - "Leave It All Behind" Amy Stroup - "Redeeming Love" Brooke Waggoner - "Heal For The Honey"...

We've got a secret, "Pretty Little Liars" fans and it's a good one. But don't worry, we're not keeping it.

A limited-edition fan pack will be sold that includes the CD, a poster with a new message from our dearly departed Alison, and an iPod download of the album upon ordering at www.prettylittleliarssoundtrack.com. The Going the Distance soundtrack. Let’s say you were going to make a movie, with your ultimate aspiration being that you would get super-rich and start getting invites to the kind of parties where they serve sushi off the toned derrieres of underwear models and dwarves scurry round with complimentary bowls of cocaine strapped to their skulls. Now, to facilitate the opening of the door onto this world of Olympian decadence, from what type of film would you choose to make? Science fiction blockbuster? Action extravaganza? Humble rom com?
Hey, don’t roll your eyes at the latter suggestion. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again till I’m blue in the face; while romantic comedies might not generate the supernovas of buzz that the perceived big boys do, they offer the genuine advantages of relatively low production costs and big fat profit margins, meaning...

Based on reaction to our Pretty Little Liars review from this morning, most fans are in agreement:
Last night's episode of this ABC Family drama wasn't the best of the season. It lacked in A-related mystery, while the depiction of various relationships on the show were inconsistent and/or confusing.
But the series did come through with another solid set of singles heard in the background of scenes. Browse through them all in our Pretty Little Liars music section and purchase the examples below with just one click of your mouse:
Meiko - "Heard It All Before" Katie Herzig - "I Will Follow" Jets Overhead - "Always A First Time" Evolove - "Lie To Me" Aidan Hawken - "Somebody Else"...
