Dale Earnhardt Jr. is stepping out of the driver’s seat and behind the camera for USA Network’s unscripted series “Race for the Championship.” The athlete will executive produce the series, premiering Sept. 1, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the drivers and teams competing in the NASCAR Cup Series.
“I have such a passion and love for the sport that I feel like this type of content is something that our fans are starving for,” Earnhardt Jr. tells Variety. “It’s always a lot of fun to work on a project that is unique and about something you’re passionate about. So that makes it easy to want to dive in, give input and get feedback — and be a part of the process.”
He adds: “We need to give everyone a better opportunity to get to know the individuals that are involved in NASCAR. I think this is a...

“Bloodshot” director David S. F. Wilson is teaming up again with Sony Pictures and is tapped to direct the sci-fi thriller “Influx” at the studio, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Sony acquired the rights to Daniel Suarez’s 2014 sci-fi novel “Influx” earlier this year, and Wilson will direct the film based on an adaptation of the book by Zak Olkewicz. Escape Artists is producing.
“Influx” won the Prometheus Award for Best Novel in 2014 and imagines a world in which the futuristic possibilities that were predicted to arrive in decades have actually already been discovered and invented but have merely been hidden and reserved for just a select few. The book follows a particle physicist who discovers a device that can reflect gravity, only for his lab and his research to be shut down by a shadowy organization that wants to hide his discovery from the public at large.

Miller had been an integral part of the key quartet – himself, writers/producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and star Ryan Reynolds – that had finally managed to get Deadpool to the big screen. They were rewarded with very sizeable box office returns back at the start of the year.

As for the reason for the creative differences, 20th Century Fox and all those involved aren't saying much.
While it sounds very dramatic, sources confirmed that there is no ill-will between Miller, Reynolds, and Fox. In fact, the departure actually frees Miller to begin working on Fox's next assignment Influx, an adaptation of the Daniel Suarez novel set to become a trilogy.
Miller exiting can also be a good thing for Deadpool 2.

There is nothing quite like driving to work in an ice storm to make you realize you are nothing more than a rat in a fucking maze. As my car spun out at 20mph on ice-covered roads I had to wonder "What the Fuck am I doing?" And more importantly why did my employer, which cares So deeply for its employees, not delay start time or cancel the day outright in this treachery?
Once upon a time you went to work out of high school or college, put in your 30 years or so, and then retired with a nice pension. Those days are long gone. People are considered the same as pens and fax machines: easily replaceable and totally disposable. The idea of the employee as a valuable and necessary, unique component of the company has mutated into something much more disturbing. Now we are supposed to feel Grateful to...

Freedom™ is the greatest ever liberal utopian fantasy featuring autonomous killer motorcycles. Daniel Suarez’s sequel to his popular Daemon, the story of a deeply buried computer program that slowly takes over the world, Freedom™ expands on some of the original book’s ideas of how using computer networks as a model for rebuilding society could work, and its vision of a program that turns the world into one big Mmorpg is endlessly creative. But the book is also highly problematic, with Suarez biting off more than he can chew throughout. Suarez has gotten lots of praise for how much ...

Paramount has bought the rights to Daniel Suarez's novel, Daemon, which they plan to turn into what sounds like a surprisingly cheesy move. The film centers around a computer programmer who creates some software designed to kill mankind. The novel and film are named after a type of computer software that can run on it's own. THR reports that the film will be produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald. THR has dubbed the film a "techno-thriller." Daemon will take place after the afore-mentioned computer programmer dies, ala I, Robot. The movie will follow what happens in the case of machines gaining the desire to kill humans and the autonomy to do so. If done well, this movie could probably be only mediocre. If done terribly, this movie could be one of the worst films ever made. It is tricky exploring a subject that has been traversed by so...
