Depeche Mode performed their rousing new song "Where's the Revolution" on The Tonight Show Wednesday. Over Martin Gore's smoldering guitar, Andrew Fletcher's mechanized synths, singer Dave Gahan delivered the song with ominous flare. "Where's the Revolution" will appear on Depeche Mode's upcoming album, Spirit, out March 17th. James Ford (Florence and the Machine, Arctic Monkeys) produced the record, which marks the band's first since 2013's Delta Machine.

“Patti Cake$” has lived up to the hype. After its Eccles Theater premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday afternoon, the film scored two huge standing ovations, and another for breakout star Danielle Macdonald.

This moment was a long and winding journey for writer-director Geremy Jasper. To look at him, you would never guess his alter ego would be Patricia Dombroski (aka Patti Cake$, aka Killer P, played by Macdonald), a 23-year-old, heavy-set Jersey girl with dreams of rap stardom. Jasper is tall, extremely easygoing, and has the style of a Williamsburg creative. In his 20s, he was the front man for a popular indie rock band, The Fever, and starred in Benh Zeitlin’s breakout short, “Glory at Sea.”

Danny Sangra isn’t the first filmmaker to make the jump from commercials to feature-length films, but he makes a pretty good case for the transition. Over the past few years, Sangra has amassed an impressive library of short films in addition to advertisements that are as distinct from one another as they are emblematic of his style.
That style earned him loyal audiences online, particularly with the more discerning Vimeo crowd, the platform that released “Goldbricks In Bloom” through its VOD service. Sangra’s shorts often earn the coveted “Vimeo Staff Pick” distinction, and they partnered with OneFifty to release the film digitally, while Emerging Pictures supported a small national theatrical release.
While not quite the cinderella story of A24’s “Swiss Army Man” directors the Daniels, who also started making music videos and digital content, it’s not bad for a first feature.

Skrillex has taken to Twitter over the weekend to reveal some bad news for Jack Ü fans following the last stop of their latest tour at the UK’s Reading Festival. In a now deleted Tweet, the producer and DJ seemed to hint at a hiatus from Jack Ü’s touring efforts. The message stated “Just did out Last jack Ü festivals of 2016 …and for a long long time. thank you for all the people who came out to support us,” leaving an indefinite time frame until the duo will hit the road again.
The ambiguous nature of the Tweet has fans speculating as to just what Skrillex meant about the future of Jack Ü shows. It may mean that Skrillex and Diplo are taking a break from performing to focus on creating new music, or if taken literally, it may simply mean that they are taking a break from playing festival shows.

UK festival goers were the first to hear Jack Ü‘s long teased collaboration with Florence And The Machine earlier today, as the DJ duo tested the song out for its debut appearance in a live set. The collab was originally announced back in March, and fans have waited patiently for the first audio sample to surface ever since.
Skrillex and Diplo opted to give the upcoming ID its inaugural play at Reading Festival this week, and one fortuitous fan captured a rip of the audio for the rest of us to enjoy. After an introduction from Diplo, a gentle backing track fills the speakers joined by Florence Welch’s powerful singing. After a vocal driven verse, the song moves into the drops, which feature crashing percussion, bell melodies and rhythmic future bass chords.

A decade in development is normally the sign that things aren’t working correctly, but with Final Fantasy Xv this is clearly not the case. The gameplay shown at the recent #UncoveredFFXV livestream from developer Square Enix shows that this time has, in fact, been well invested, making it one of the beautiful and intricate Final Fantasy games ever created.
Not only will you be able to play Final Fantasy Xv this year, as soon as September 30th in fact, but a playable demo is available right now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The second playable tease to Final Fantasy Xv, after 2015’s Episode Duscae.
A story trailer – which even featured a cover of Stand By Me from Florence and the Machine – showed our cast of characters switch in-between calm friendship bonding scenes to fighting giant monsters, as Square Enix announced a Deluxe and Ultimate Collector Edition of the game.

Florence and the Machine provides the soundtrack to the new trailer for Final Fantasy 15. Check it out within...
"Reclaim your throne" is the call to action in Final Fantasy Xv, Square Enix's latest entry in its storied RPG franchise. The new trailer, soundtracked by Florence (plus her Machine) is a proper mash-up of tones and style: there are 50s style cars, futuristic ships, elegant and colossal monsters, cities and expanses of lonely wilderness. There are moments of quiet reflection and horrifying assaults from naked giants.
Take a look:
Yes, the Final Fantasy Xv trailer packs a lot into its two minutes and 40 seconds, but then, that's probably because Square Enix have packed what looks like acres of plot into the actual game. If you're anxious to give it a spin, then there's good news: a Platinum Demo is now available to download from the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Games Store.

Oh, Youth and Beauty!: Sorrentino’s Shows Softer Side in Switzerland
Following the success of the snide yet undeniably eloquent 2013 title The Great Beauty, which ended up snatching the Best Foreign Language statue at the Academy Awards, Paolo Sorrentino takes a second dip in English following 2011’s This Must Be the Place with Youth. Tender, sweet, and more emotional than his last film, Sorrentino is once again pontificating on the last chapter of life, this time through the vessels of a retired composer and aged film director, as portrayed by Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel. Threaded with the auteur’s usual flashes of visual inspiration, this time around he seems less bombastic and potentially meditative with characters contemplating a last hurrah as they remember highs and lows.

I'm such a fan, oh my god," she tells Zane Lowe in an hour-long interview set to air on Wednesday, setting the record straight about all the times she's had to say no. When first asked which modern artists she listens to (Adele isn't that old-timey, guys!), she was quick to note: "Obviously, Queen Bey to the day I die." (She's also a fan of Lana Del Rey, Alabama Shakes, Florence and the Machine, and Chvrches.) And there you have it, no beef here. Nothing to see. Adele's just another ordinary Beyoncé stan patiently waiting for Bey to acknowledge her existence. Soon, Adele, soon!

In just a few days, we’ll know the 12 albums under consideration for the 2015 Mercury Prize. The bookies’ early frontrunners for the shortlist include Everything Everything, Jamie Xx and Florence and the Machine, but whoever makes the cut, it’s sure to divide music fans.
In past years we’ve had shock winners (including 2014’s victors, Young Fathers); in others we’ve seen the safest, blandest album on the list somehow coming out on top. On more than one occasion though, truly awful records have triumphed over great ones; and some shortlists have had four or five stone cold classics slogging it out with each other.
But will 2015 be another year where a future classic album walks away empty handed on the night? Because it’s happened many times before…...

Sarah McLachlan fans, take note: sister-trio pop rock band Haim wants to bring back a Lilith Fair style festival for the 2015 generation.Speaking with music critic Kelefa Sanneh at the New Yorker Festival on Friday, the eldest Haim, Este, said, “We talk about this all the time, how there aren’t enough female-represented bands and artists at festivals. You don’t see them. And it’s really sad for us. We came up with the idea basically of why can’t we just bring back a festival that’s just ladies. Not that we don’t love the boys. Love the men.” She went on to list her fantasy line up, which includes female-friendly artists like Lorde, Florence and the Machine, Savages, Chvrches, Haim mentor Jenny Lewis, and Taylor Swift (Haim is the current opener on the megastar’s 1989 tour). While the 29-year-old singer never witnessed the original incarnation of the female-focused Lilith Fair,...

Sing it, Florence Welch! During a stop on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, Florence and the Machine decided to take a break from performing several hit tracks off of their latest album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, to cover one of most popular songs of the summer: Skrillex and Diplo's single "Where Are Ü Now" featuring Justin Bieber. But Florence's version is far more than just your everyday run-of-the-mill cover, it sounds like an entirely different song complete with some of the best live vocals we've heard from her in a while. And sure, the Biebs' song was somber (save for the upbeat dance breaks), but Florence and the Machine's melancholy rendition is a far darker,...

Florence Welch has always had a knack for accessing the pain of any song and bringing it to the fore. Her cover of Jack Ü and Justin Bieber's "Where Are Ü Now" for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge is no exception; in fact, it's one of the best examples of her magic. She brings just the right touches of psychedelic rock and emotional weight to the electronic ballad that'll tug on your heartstrings. Honestly, who doesn't need Florence the most? (Skip to 23:20 for her cover, and listen elsewhere in the session to hear Florence and the Machine perform songs from their latest album.)...

If you told me yesterday, “Hey, Empire is gonna add Predatory Lesbian Schemer Oscar Winner Marisa Tomei to this season,” I would have said “If that’s real, I’ll eat my hat.” I’m sitting here with half a Cubs baseball cap in my mouth, praising the brilliance of Predatory Lesbian Schemer Oscar Winner Marisa Tomei. The second she showed up in a high-end honky tonk Florence and the Machine pantsuit, I thought we were in for a thrill ride. Okay. This episode wasn’t so much of a thrill ride as expert table-setting and reminders of the damage these people are capable of doing. A lot of the episode’s immediate threats of violence were handled so swiftly that tension didn’t get a chance to really seep into our bones. But who needs tension when you have Vogue contributing editor, former America’s Next Top Model judge,...

Robert Pattinson is really making the rounds in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The actor, who is in town shooting his new movie The Lost City of Z with Charlie Hunnam, was spotted having a fun night out at Kelly's Cellar with Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine on Tuesday night. The pals enjoyed a few drinks and took photos with fans at one of the city's oldest pubs. Kelly's posted the snapshots on its Facebook page, with the caption, "Florence Welch and Rob Pattinson in sampling Belfast's one and only Kelly's Cellars!" Their night out came one day before Florence performed the first gig at Belfast's newly renovated Sse Arena on Sept. 9. Since arriving in Belfast earlier this Summer, Rob also crashed a local wedding and took a photo with Charlie Hunnam and one very lucky fan. See his latest photos above, and then check out his most recent outing with his fiancée,...

After Kanye West was announced as a Glastonbury headliner, an online petition with more than 133,000 signatures calling for Kanye to be replaced by a “real” rock band appeared, to the chagrin of those who aren't living in the 1970s. West called the petition “an insult to music fans all over the world.” Dave Grohl, who couldn’t perform due to that stupid broken leg (he was replaced by Florence and the Machine), said the petition would only fuel Kanye to create a bigger, better performance, but even Grohl probably didn’t anticipate Kanye breaking out into a cover of Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” a quintessential classic rock and karaoke-night track. He performed the first verse before moving on to the normally scheduled programming. Watch West channel Freddie Mercury — as well as perform his own “Stronger,” “Power,” “New Slaves," "Heartless," and other songs — below.

It was undeniably badass when Dave Grohl broke his leg and continued to rock out with his bone out. It was undeniably unfortunate, however, that Grohl had to then cancel the Foo Fighters’ appearance at the Glastonbury Festival, one of the biggest stops on the Fighters’ European tour. Grohl & Co. were replaced by Florence and the Machine, who performed a cover of “Times Like These” in Grohl’s honor, which sort of makes it hurt less. Watch the performance below:...

Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine went through a rough patch so severe, she thought she would ultimately have a breakdown. In Billboard's new cover story, Welch opens up about how life on tour kept her sane for so long before she ultimately had to face her own "chaos" and deal with her life. "Without the structure of touring, you have to face your own chaos," she tells the magazine. "I was playing gigs nonstop since I was 21. When I was left to my own devices, I realized I was f---ing everything up. I was in and out of a relationship, in and out of drinking too much. It was like constantly picking yourself up and then dropping yourself, picking yourself up and dropping...

Promoting one’s movie is par for the course for hosts of “Saturday Night Live.” So what happens when that movie (one you also produced) has horrific critical buzz and has already all but tanked at the box office? Soldier on ahead and pretend like nothing has happened. So let’s see how well Reese Witherspoon can do that in this, her first hosting gig in nearly fifteen years. (Her last and only other appearance? The first post-9/11 episode, in which the immortal “Can we be funny?”/”Why start now?” solidified the show’s place in the popular consciousness anew.) Last week’s ScarJo episode was a bummer, so let’s hope things improve this week before heading into the Louis C.K.-hosted finale. As always, I’ll be liveblogging the episode, assigning grades to each segment. As always, I invite you to participate, commenting along in real time as well.

After her show at Coachella this weekend, Florence Welch revealed via Facebook on Tuesday that she broke her foot when she leaped off the stage. It's unclear how bad the break is, but she gave fans a general idea by writing that it's essentially bad enough that Florence and the Machine's performances will have to be "stripped back" — but it's not bad enough to warrant canceled shows (tour dates here). "This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this," she wrote in reference to the band's forthcoming album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which comes out at the beginning of June. What a champ. Here's her Facebook statement in full: Get well soon, Flo! (Wish her well by watching the official-slash-new "Ship to Wreck" video, maybe.)...

Florence and the Machine just debuted their fourth song from the forthcoming album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (out June) on BBC Radio. "I was thinking about my own self-destructive side, and how you can make something only to tear it down," Florence Welch said in a statement. "When you're in that whirlwind, you often end up breaking the thing you love the most." The song's on YouTube now, and the lyrics are fitting. It's all recklessly lovely, and it makes wrecking stuff sound like a majestic sort of ball. (If you want a visual, maybe play the song over this clip.)...

Florence and the Machine have a new album coming out, which means we're currently being gifted with one stunning new video after another. Their latest is for a wrenching new song called "St. Jude," dedicated to the patron saint of lost causes — fitting for a cinematic visual that's a continuation of the band's video for "What Kind of Man." It finds Florence Welch doing some intense soul-searching after parting with a lover. Some stunning imagery coupled with Florence's lovelorn expressive dancing makes for one hell of a tearjerker.
