Roger Alan Gindi is the head of the theatrical producing and general
management firm of Gindi Theatrical Management. He won the 2007 Tony
Award for producing "Jay Johnson: The Two & Only!" on Broadway after
producing the show off-Broadway the previous season, followed by a
national tour. He recently produced "Dust" by Billy Goda, starring
Richard Masur and Hunter Foster. Last season he was general manager of
"The Milliner" and "Fugue" off-Broadway, along with "Tall Grass" by
Brian Harris, which he also produced. He recently managed Whoopi
Goldberg and Charles S. Dutton in August Wilson's "Ma Rainey's Black
Bottom" on Broadway as well as "Jolson & Company," "Burning Blue,"
"Class Mothers '68" and "Heat Lightning" Off-Broadway. The previous
season he was represented by the Off-Broadway productions of "Thunder
Knocking on The Door" and "Endpapers;" and the season before that, he
was represented on Broadway by both August Wilson's "King Hedley II"
and "The Gathering," and by "I Sing!" and "If It Was Easy"
Off-Broadway. He was a producer of "Maybe Baby It's You" and
"Shakespeare's R&J," the hit four-man adaptation of Romeo And Juliet
Off-Broadway. He managed August Wilson's award-winning "Jitney" and
supervised its London production at the Royal National Theatre followed
by a tour of Seattle and San Francisco. He was General Manager of
"Nunsense A-Men!" Off-Broadway and the hip hop musical "Jam on The
Groove" on an international tour. He was General Manager of "Warp,"
"The Amazing Metrano," Dan Butler's one-man play: "The Only Thing Worse
You Could Have Told Me..." and "Lust," the musical. He also managed
both of Dan Goggin's hit musicals, "Nunsense" and "Nunsense 2: The
Sequel," the Broadway engagement of Famous People Players in "A Little
More Magic" and David Mamet's controversial hit off-Broadway play,
"Oleanna," as well its National Tour. Also on Broadway, Mr. Gindi
produced Abraham Tetenbaum's "Crazy He Calls Me" starring Polly Draper
and Barry Miller, was the Associate Producer/General Manager of Alan
Ayckbourn's "A Small Family Business" and was General Manager of
Richard Baer's Broadway Alliance comedy, "Mixed Emotions," starring
Katherine Helmond and Harold Gould. Off-Broadway he was General Manager
of "The Cover of Life," "Smiling Through," "The Destiny of Me," "Raft
of The Medusa," "Balancing Act," and Martin Charnin's "Loose Lips." Mr.
Gindi was General Manager of "A Change in the Heir," a new Broadway
musical at the Edison Theatre. Additionally, he managed the Broadway
Alliance production of "Our Country's Good," which was nominated for
six Tony Awards including Best Play. He has also served as Theatrical
Manager for the past ten "Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows" on CBS.
For the past twenty-seven years, Mr. Gindi has been General Manager of the long-running musical comedy "Nunsense" and its offspring. "Nunsense" has been performed in hundreds of theatres of all sizes across the country and around the world and was recently on a highly successful National Tour. To date, "Nunsense" has returned a profit of almost 4,000% on its original investment. He managed a National Tour of "Nunsense" starring Sally Struthers, and last season, a tour of "Nunset Boulevard" starring Cindy Williams.
Gindi Theatrical Management recently produced the off-Broadway thriller "Dust" starring Richard Masur and Hunter Foster. Last fall he managed "The Last Smoker In America," a new musical. In his capacity as General Manager, he serves the function of "line producer" for plays and musicals: negotiating with agents and attorneys regarding authors' options, theatre leases, directors, designers, cast and crew; preparing the production and operating budgets and making sure such guidelines are strictly adhered to; conferring with the productions' design teams and the scenery, costume and lighting shops on all technical aspects of the productions; working with press agents and advertising agencies to develop the marketing and publicity plans proper for each production and generally being available to the producers as consultant on all production and financial matters.
Mr. Gindi began working independently as a General Manager in 1982 with "It's Better With a Band" at Sardi's. He has served as General Manager for numerous showcase productions and workshops, one of which became "Nunsense."

He spent eight years with the New York Shakespeare Festival serving as Company Manager on such shows as "Runaways," "For Colored Girls...," "A Chorus Line" and "I'm Getting My Act Together...," including their Public Theater runs as well as their commercial transfers off and on Broadway. In 1981, with the commercial transfer of "March of The Falsettos" from Playwrights Horizons, Mr. Gindi began his association with Gatchell and Neufeld, Ltd., where he worked as Company Manager on numerous shows including "Beyond Therapy," "Hurlyburly," "Song & Dance," "Smile," "Cats" and "Starlight Express."
