It has been a big year for gamers, as plenty of announcements, cancellations, and other news have been made, but news regarding the upcoming Iron Man game and Battlefield has many gamers wondering whether or not EA is on the right tracks with its IPs.
According to a recent report, Motive’s, who were in charge of development for the Mass Effect 2 remake and the upcoming Iron Man title, have now merged with the wider Battlefield development team thanks to a decision from EA, but according to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, one of these projects may be in trouble.

After successfully bringing back Dead Space from cold storage, it would seem like a no brainer that EA and developer Motive would get to work on a remake of Dead Space 2. However, according to a new rumour, that may not be in the cards.
According to insider Jeff Grubb (who reported on the original remake’s existence prior to its announcement), on his Game Mess Mornings show, Grubb stated that Motive was working on concepts for Dead Space 2, but that work was ultimately shelved due to lackluster sales of the remake. EA Motive has in turn shifted work to Iron Man and Battlefield Universe.
However, per IGN, EA has responded to the rumour, stating that “We don’t normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story.”
Adding a twist to all of this is that EA hasn’t actually reported the sales numbers for the Dead Space remake.

EA recently announced that developer Motive Studio will be assisting in the development of the Battlefield franchise while continuing their work on an upcoming Iron Man game. Fans of that studio quickly realized that many of the people involved with Motive’s critically acclaimed 2023 Dead Space remake are now seemingly working on at least one of those two other projects. Yet, EA made no mention of the Dead Space 2 remake that Motive was reportedly supposed to be working on. That notable lack of information caused Dead Space fans to fear the worst.
Now, Jeff Grubb is reporting that Motive has essentially shelved their previously planned Dead Space 2 remake for a reason that has long haunted the Dead Space franchise like so many Necromorphs: disappointing sales.
“They were working on Dead Space 2, and they are no longer working on it,” said Grubb during a recent podcast regarding Motive’s upcoming projects.

Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
Ever since its announcement in late 2021, the remake of the legendary action role playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, there has been almost nothing but bad news. From the former writer of the game admitting to not being a fan of the source material, to the multiple delays, to moving studios from Asyre to Saber Interactive, to even rumors of cancellation over the announcement trailers being delisted, the dark side has clouded this game’s development.
Despite multiple rumors of its cancellation, fans have been assured that at least a handful of developers are actively working on it. We don’t know how much of the game has been reworked since its switch to a new studio or how much progress has even been made. All that we know is...

A glimpse into the next Gears of War might just be a couple of months away. The Coalition, the developers of the game, are said to be working on one, and rumors suggest it will be the continuation of the last mainline game’s story. In 2021, The Coalition seemingly parted ways from Gears 5 for an unrevealed project on Unreal Engine 5. The project might be a savior for Xbox, since there are rumors about a new console. This project appears to be the next Gears of War game, as some Xbox job listings by Microsoft suggest. The speculations arise from the latest conversation with insider Jeff Grubb on Kinda Funny Xcast.
The first three games in the series revolve around the protagonist, Marcus Fenix, while the next main title follows the story of his son, James Dominic Fenix, and then his friend, Kait Diaz. Cliff Bleszinski, who designed the first three installments, drew inspiration from games like Resident Evil 4, Kill Switch, and Bionic Commando.

Star Wars: KotOR Remake was officially announced in 2021 during the PlayStation Showcase and is currently in development at Saber. Sony shocked fans when it removed the trailer for the game from its YouTube channel, which it later addressed, saying it was due to an expired music license.
There were also speculations that the game might be dead. However, Saber Interactive’s CEO Matthew Karch recently said that the game is “alive and well,” but it seems like it may not be interesting enough for the investors as an insider claims that Sie has moved on from the project.

Gears of War is one of the most popular franchises exclusive to Xbox. The franchise began in 2006 and has seen numerous installments since then. However, the latest mainline game in the series dates back to 2019.
Since then, various Xbox exclusives have disappeared from the relevance compass because of their boundless mediocrity. Xbox doesn’t seem to have an answer for exclusive titles released on its arch-rival, Sony’s console lineup. However, as per some industry insiders, this might change, and the Gears of War franchise might see another installment reasonably soon.

Sony just confirmed that there will not be any “major” launches in games for the PS5 until 2025. But this does not mean that there will be no games at all. Some low-profile titles could launch this year, aside from Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade.
According to some new information, you could have another game of a very dear Sony IP, Astro. This could mean that some games with lower budgets will be coming this year. All this is thanks to the latest Giant Bomb podcast.

While the recent PlayStation and Summer Game Fest events were kind of a bust, expectations are justifiably high for Xbox’s upcoming showcase event. That’s partially because Xbox could really use a win right now when it comes to major new releases, but much of the hype is based on the fact that there are so many major Xbox titles that seem due for an update.
In fact, so many of the rumors and reports surrounding the upcoming Xbox event focus on games we already know are in development. While that sadly means we likely won’t get a lot of true surprise announcements during the upcoming Xbox event, you should expect to see at least some minor updates on a few highly-anticipated projects. Specifically, here are a few of the more notable things I think will appear during the show.

While some recent video game reveal shows have reminded us that a lot of big upcoming games still won’t be released for quite some time, Xbox and Bethesda’s 2022 Games Showcase figures to be the biggest digital event of the year so far. Indeed, it might be the only digital event of the year so far that will be on par with what its presenters would have brought to E3.
Actually, a big part of the reason why Microsoft purchased ZeniMax Media (Bethesda’s parent company) was to bolster Xbox’s lineup of exclusives and timed exclusives with the kinds of Bethesda-lead projects that typically steal the show at major events like E3. Of course, anyone who has been following Xbox’s production schedule over the last few years knows that they have quite a few other projects in their first-party pipeline that haven’t been properly showcased for quite some time.

Even though E3 2022 was canceled earlier this year, June is still shaping up to be “reveal season” for some of gaming’s biggest names. In fact, PlayStation will kick off the month with a special June 2022 State of Play broadcast that promises to offer a peek at what PlayStation fans can look forward to for the rest of the year and beyond.
Now, the PlayStation team has made it clear that their June 2022 showcase will not be their big first-party presentation (what you might call their “E3 substitute”). That means you shouldn’t expect to hear much (if any) information about some of the biggest upcoming PS4/PS5 exclusives. However, PlayStation has confirmed that the show will feature quite a bit of information about the Psvr 2 and some of its upcoming games. Furthermore, they’ve teased a few “third-party” reveals that could include quite a few major upcoming games.

In a recent episode of his podcast, industry reporter Jeff Grubb suggested that the previously rumored Last of Us Part 2 multiplayer project (commonly known as “Factions”) will likely not be released in its originally intended form. However, that’s only because the mode has reportedly grown significantly larger over the course of development.
“I think that no game called ‘Factions’ will ever come out, but not in a bad way,” Grubb says “[Naughty Dog] probably just decided they could do more. That’s the stuff I was able to source in multiple places and that I would feel ok in saying…it seems pretty well known in some circles that they are moving beyond their original smaller ambitions to something more and that’s as much as I can possibly say.”

Thirteen years on from its release, Dead Space is still regarded as one of the best horror games ever made, especially within the community of dedicated fans that to this day mourn the death of the franchise. Unable to meet publisher Electronic Arts’ increasingly ambitious sales expectations, the final death knell for the series was 2013’s Dead Space 3, an action-heavy sequel that abandoned the scarier tone and environmental storytelling of the original for co-op shooter gameplay meant to appeal to a wider audience.
“Survival horror is hard. Horror games in general are expensive to make and hard to sell. People would give us the feedback that they love Dead Space but don’t buy it because it’s too scary. Kind of works against itself,” former senior level designer Zach Wilson famously told Gamesindustry.biz in 2017, just a week after EA had shuttered Visceral Games for good. Wilson went on...

In case you hadn’t heard, Sony and Insomniac Games revealed a first look at Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered yesterday via a new trailer, and while what was shown was certainly pretty, the lion’s share of attention since its release has been squarely on Peter Parker’s new look. As a result of the developer’s desire to cast a face model whose appearance better suited voice actor Yuri Lowenthal’s performance, Insomniac made the unprecedented decision to replace John Bubinak – as seen in the original PS4 version – with Ben Jordan.

Based on the information that’s currently available, it sounds like those negotiations haven’t progressed much. The biggest problem at the moment seems to be the purchase price. Ever since the coronavirus pandemic brought about the cancellation of E3 2020, the video game industry seems to have been grounded to a complete standstill, and the PS5, still set to enter global markets by the end of the year, reduced to an object of myth and legend.
