How do you like that? Orlando Bloom and I have something in common: we’ve both tried to erase Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy from our memories. Well, not exactly. While participating in Variety‘s “Know Their Lines” video series, Bloom drew a blank when asked about a line by his Troy character, Paris. Bloom thought the dialogue came from his Kingdom of Heaven character, Balian de Ibelin, or Legolas Greenleaf, his elven archer from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. To his surprise, the line came from Troy, a movie he’s tried to wipe from memory.
“Oh my god, ‘Troy.’ Wow. I think I just blanked that movie out of my brain by the way,” Bloom explained. “So many people love that movie, but for me playing that character was just like [slits throat]. Am I allowed to say all of these things? I didn’t want to do the movie.

Orlando Bloom is willing his memory of starring in “Troy” to wilt.
Bloom, who portrayed Paris, the Prince of Troy, whose affair with Queen Helen (Diane Kruger) ignited the Trojan War, revealed that he “didn’t want to do the movie” at all, despite the 2004 historical feature being a box office success.
During a career retrospective interview with Variety, Bloom admitted he “blanked out” the film from his own career and mind.

Many audiences were first introduced to British actor Orlando Bloom thanks to Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of The Rings” trilogy playing the charismatic and cocky Elf archer, Legolas. One of Bloom’s first major follow-up roles was in the Greek epic “Troy,” directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Brad Pitt. However, Bloom says he wasn’t all that thrilled about the less-than-heroic character in the movie, which focuses on the epic war between the armies of Greece.

Famously known for appearing in franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings, Orlando Bloom has acquired a fanbase out of his iconic characters. But not always did the actor appreciate the projects he appeared in. Take, for example, Bloom admitted blocking out Wolfgang Petersen’s 2004 historical epic Troy, from his mind.

Appearing for Variety’s Know Their Lines video series, as Orlando Bloom failed to recall one of the lines said by his Troy character Paris, the actor admitted absolutely loathing the film. So it seems Brad Pitt isn’t the only one who expressed his dissatisfaction towards the 2004 movie, there’s also Bloom who despised it.

Orlando Bloom has fond memories of making movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Lord of the Rings,” but Wolfgang Petersen’s 2004 historical epic “Troy” is a different story. During an interview for Variety’s “Know Their Lines” video series, Bloom blanked on one of the lines said by his “Troy” character Paris (he thought it must be from “Kingdom of Heaven” or “Lord of the Rings”) and admitted that he has mostly blocked the movie out of his mind.

Time travel movies are tricky things to pull off. You want the science in your story to make a certain amount of sense, but you don’t want to put so much effort into your timelines that you start to confound the audience. If the tale being told is compelling enough, the viewer won’t feel the need to pick apart every single detail. When it comes to Looper, a terrific example of the time travel genre, director Rian Johnson said he didn’t want the audience to feel like they were doing homework. Johnson got it just right, since Looper works on its own terms, doesn’t condescend to the viewer, and uses the time travel conceit as a clothesline upon which it hangs the really important things, like its characters and the drama they’re tangled up in.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most celebrated works of fantasy and has been regarded as one of the greatest films ever. Director Peter Jackson spent years bringing to life a novel series that was considered to be unadaptable. The final film of the trilogy The Return of the King won eleven awards at the Oscars, including Best Picture.
Many actors in the fantasy trilogy have gone on to become stars. While lead actors such as Elijah Wood and Viggo Mortensen became synonymous with their roles as Frodo and Aragorn, other actors such as Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, and Andy Serkis saw new levels of stardom. Bloom, who would go on to star in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise reportedly received a very low salary for playing the role of Legolas in the trilogy.

The Met Gala has come and gone, and many celebrities were there, but not Meghan Markle. Despite being “hugely tempted” to climb the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the annual fashion benefit, according to an author, the Duchess of Sussex didn’t. Why? It fell on the same day as Prince Archie’s birthday.
Meghan reportedly declined a Met Gala invite because of Archie’s birthday

As true fans of cinema will know, the three-year period from 2001 to 2003 has given us three films that are today considered to be among the most memorable works of modern cinematography. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and the trilogy became a massive hit, earning praise from fans and critics, a lot of money, and numerous awards. The Hobbit prequel trilogy was released later, bringing back some old faces to the franchise, and with the future also looking bright, we are going to go back down memory lane as we have received some nostalgia-inducing photographs.

Father Time comes for us all in different degrees. Now one sees countless ads for wrinkle creams, hair colouring, replacements or surgeries linked to boosting confidence. The most offensive is getting children as young as twelve to use skin rejuvenation products. Anubys Lopez’s film Aged (2023) takes a huge page of countless films where glands are harvested and injected more strongly. The film uses motifs of Countess Dracula (1971) and Cocoon (1985) to bring terror to the onset of gray hairs and fading memories. More importantly, it is what family members would do to make sure the clock is forcibly turned back.
Aged (2023) is oddly constructed and misdirected in places with some poor direction missing key plot moments. Bright scenes of rural landscapes and a meeting in an antiseptic stilted coffee shop with Charles Bloom (Dave McClain), meeting with Veronica Grey (Morgan Boss-Maltais) to interview as a caregiver for his ailing mother.

A muse, a mother, a fashionista, an actor, a rock ‘n’ roll icon — it’s hard to describe exactly why Anita Pallenberg remains such a compelling figure more than a half-century after the captivating blonde sang backing vocals on the Rolling Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil” and starred in movies like “Performance” and “Barbarella.”
The new documentary “Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg” delves into both the beautiful and tragic moments of her eventful life with the help of a treasure trove of home movies and interviews, as well as an unpublished memoir penned by Pallenberg and narrated by Scarlett Johansson. The footage is coupled with interviews of the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, with whom she had a significant relationship, their children Marlon and Angela Richards, director Volker Schlondorff, who cast her in some of his films, and her former friends and associates.

Over its four-season run, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend gave us more than 150 original songs paying homage to every musical genre out there, courtesy of writers Adam Schlesinger, Jack Dolgen and the show’s two co-creators, lead actor Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna.
The series used its musical conceit to take audiences along for the ride as Rebecca Bunch (played by Bloom) abruptly leaves her high-powered New York life and moves to small-town California to be near her childhood crush. And while the songs all expanded the lives of Rebecca and her friends in hilarious, introspective and occasionally self-aware ways, the best of them can be listened to again and again, even outside the context of the episodes they appear in.
Suffice to say, the bar for creating this list of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songs was high — but the result is...

You can’t always get what you want, unless you are a Rolling Stones fan hungering for documentary deep-dives into the band’s storied history. Indeed, it is spectacularly serendipitous that Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg arrives just a few months after The Stones and Brian Jones. The latter doc, from Nick Broomfield, centered on Jones, the band’s founder and leader until Mick Jagger and Keith Richards snatched that mantle. Catching Fire and The Stones and Brian Jones cover much of the same ground, use some of the same archival footage, and even feature the same anecdotes from delightful Tin Drum director Volker Schlöndorff. The films are even released by the same distributor, Magnolia.
Catching Fire and Brian Jones should, of course, be judged on their own merits, yet it’s impossible not to consider them in-tandem. The perspectives are obviously quite different, as are––to some degree––heroes and villains.

Orlando Bloom wanted to push himself for his Peacock docuseries “Orlando Bloom: To the Edge” — but that also meant those along for the shoot were stretching the limits of what they thought themselves capable of, too. After all, how are you going to capture footage of Bloom wingsuiting if you’re not up there with him?

Orlando Bloom takes himself to all-new heights and depths in his new three-part docuseries, Orlando Bloom: To the Edge. The actor may be best known for roles in big-budget blockbusters like the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, but it seems his truest passion is finding and testing his own limits—physically, mentally, and emotionally. In each episode of the series, Bloom challenges himself to accomplish a very difficult and dangerous activity after just a few weeks of training. First, there’s the matter of learning to wingsuit solo; then, he decides to dive 100 feet into the ocean while holding his breath; and, finally, he climbs a massive peak that forces him to confront his deepest fear. Each challenge is draining and revelatory for Bloom, and we learned so much about the actor (and apparent adrenaline fiend) watching it all play out. He was very moved...

Roku is one of several companies partnering with Innovid on a new suite of connected TV advertising measurement and effectiveness products called Harmony. (Courtesy photo)
Software firm Innovid is launching a new initiative called Harmony that aims to bring greater transparency to the measurement and effectiveness of advertising campaigns across connected platforms.
The aim of the Harmony initiative is to “streamline the supply path to its purest form, ensuring more advertiser dollars go toward working media, increasing revenue opportunities for publishers, and creating a more sustainable, transparent path,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The overall goal is to ensure that one company does not become a dominant player in the measurement and delivery of advertising. Instead, Innovid believes it is best positioned to offer a suite of measurement solutions tailored to connected video systems that bring a higher level of transparency and sustainability to advertising campaigns across multiple platforms.

The Survivor medical team checked him over and let him continue playing the game.

Randen was officially medically evacuated from Fiji on Day 7 of the season. He became the third person eliminated from the game.
After the episode concluded, a short segment had Randen speaking to the cameras again. He spoke about doing much better after receiving treatment. But there’s more to the story.

Lord of the Rings is one of the most iconic and culturally significant fantasy series of all time. Having one of the most dedicated fans, a story like no other, and a world-building that is deeply immersive for the audience, it is no wonder the film series is so loved. The three films were released back to back between 2001 and 2003, having some of the most visually stunning sequences at the time.

Review: After 2020’s Fatman, I’ve been patiently waiting to see what the Nelms Brothers would get up to with their next venture. Their more low-budget approach to action has a lot of potential, especially with the right lead. And while they don’t have Mel Gibson, they do have Orlando Bloom re-entering the action genre. But this isn’t some bombastic, new take on blockbusters. Red Right Hand is similar to the action fare you’d find in the bargain bin at Walmart. The action itself is very staged and low impact. And the story fails to surprise, following down the same expected path that these movies often take. But there are some moments that stand out.

For generations, every reader repeated the same phrase, “The book is better than the movie.” The phrase became a critical reflex to some of the most mediocre adaptations until Hollywood decided to not cut corners and genuinely pay more attention to the source material. As a result, fans raised questions when books turned into movies. Until the entertainment industry did justice to the books justice by creating memorable movie or TV Series adaptations such as The Lord of The Rings, The Godfather, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, and so much more.

Orlando Bloom-narrated documentary series “Earthbound” has been picked up by Keshet International for global distribution.
“Earthbound,” which Bloom also executive produces, is a six-part docu-series that explores apparently ordinary people tackling potentially life-changing environmental challenges.
Farhoud Meybodi (“My Last Days”) wrote, directed and produced the series. Keshet International will screen the doc to buyers at Berlinale Series Market Selects Screenings next week and at London TV Screenings later this month.
Each episode profiles a single environmental visionary, such as 32-year-old engineer, Nzambi Matee, who founded Gjenge Makers, a company that recycles plastic waste into paving bricks.
“This optimistic and solution-orientated series aims to both entertain and inspire viewers around the world to create impact within their community,” reads the logline.

Watching the extended director’s cut DVD of Kingdom of Heaven nearly 18 years after its release (and nearly 20 in the case of the film’s original theatrical run) is a curious thing. Among Ridley Scott’s many insights into what may still be his most beautiful looking historical epic to date, the director muses on the commentary track that the home media market is something of a godsend. Because even two decades ago, the modus operandi was “faster and simpler.”
“I think the value of this digital market is people are more willing or more ready to sit at home and enjoy the longer version,” Scott reflected. “Thank God for DVD.”
That long lost home market of yore really was a gift to filmmakers, and few of them benefited from it better than Scott. The British director famously achieved a kind of absolution when he was able to re-edit Blade Runner...

TikTok is using AI to increase its already significant influence in the music world. The ByteDance-owned platform has launched AI Song, a tool that writes music and lyrics based on user suggestions.
AI Song is currently available to a limited number of users. TikTok told TechCrunch that the new feature is powered by Bloom, a large language model that informs AI Song’s lyrical decisions. The tool pairs those words with music it pulls from a preexisting audio library. At launch, AI Song can deliver tunes across three genres: Pop, hip-hop, and Edm.
A TikTok spokesperson told The Verge that AI Song is still in the testing phase, and since it doesn’t actually write music itself, it could get a new name soon. “It’s not technically an AI song generator,” the spokesperson said. “Any music used is from a pre-saved catalog created within the business.”

The Hoth scenes in "Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back" weren't easy to film. It was largely shot in Finse, Norway, as well as a nearby glacier. They dealt with avalanches and trains that stopped running because of the weather. They even had to shoot the tauntaun scene right outside their hotel (with people watching from the balconies), because they couldn't get to the original shooting location. However, it was human error involving some dynamite that caused one of the issues while filming on what is supposed to be depicted as a bitterly cold ice planet.
If you recall, at the beginning of the film, Imperial forces send down a probe to see if the Rebels are on the planet. (You may remember the probe because it's actually a surprisingly cute droid for something with evil intent ... or I'm just a sucker for anything that looks like it has a face.

The episode of Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie covering Wolf Creek was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Mike Conway, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
One of the biggest and some would say overused tropes in horror movies is the killer stalking people in an outdoor setting. The main series for this is, of course, the Friday the 13th series but we have nearly countless other examples to pull from. Sometimes, like today’s entry, or The Burning, these stories and movies can be based on true events and make it even more frightening. Unlike The Burning, which is based on an urban legend with the true story being far from fact, Wolf Creek (watch it Here) had an original script that was tweaked to be based on the real life killers Ivan Milat and Bradley John Murdoch...

A judge has ruled in favor of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom over a $14 million Montecito, California, mansion that was previously owned by disabled veteran Carl Westcott.
In the verdict, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Joseph Lipner found that Westcott lacked evidence that he did not have the mental capacity to enter into a contract for his property.
“This proposed decision is crystal clear — the judge has concluded that Mr. Westcott was in full possession of his faculties when he engaged in complex negotiations with multiple parties to finalize the lucrative sale of the property, which ultimately brought him a substantial profit,” Eric Rowen, who was Perry’s and Bloom’s attorney, said in a statement. “The evidence overwhelmingly shows that Mr. Westcott breached the contract simply because he changed his mind. We eagerly anticipate resolving this matter during the scheduled damage trial phase set for February 13 and 14, if not sooner.
