As Deadline revealed exclusively in April, the upcoming third season will be the supernatural thriller series’ last. Netflix also released a teaser trailer that gives a first look at Locke & Key‘s final chapter.

Exclusive: The upcoming third season of Netflix’s Locke & Key will be its last. But fans of the supernatural thriller based on the Idw comic books by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez should not fret — they will get a proper conclusion since Season 3 was conceived as the show’s final chapter. In fact, I hear that, following the breakout success of Locke & Key‘s ten-episode first season, Netflix approached the series’ creative team with a plan for a three-season run consisting of a 10-episode second season and an eight-episode third season. That fit the vision of Locke & Key executive producers/co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill for how to tell the story and when to wrap it.

There will be much more trauma for the Locke family before this story comes to a close!
Netflix has dropped the full-length trailer for Locke & Key Season 2, and it teases a lot of big moments for the family.
Dodge is still well and truly a part of the story, taking over bodies and causing a lot of mayhem for everyone concerned.
But Nina Locke has primarily been in the dark about what the kids have been getting up to, and it looks like she'll be getting some answers throughout the second season.
Nina has been none the wiser about many things, but it's clear she can't shake the feeling that more than she's being led to believe is happening.
It also begs the following question:
How will she react to everything that has happened?

When Daily Dead took part in a Locke & Key roundtable call earlier this year, co-showrunner (along with Carlton Cuse) Meredith Averill said that they have "...stories for a few seasons to come percolating in our brains...", and it looks like that statement is becoming a reality, because not only was the show renewed for a second season back in March, it's now been renewed for a third season by Netflix before the second season has even premiered.
Multiple outlets are reporting the renewal news, including The Hollywood Reporter, along with the announcement that Meredith Averill has signed a deal with Netflix for "TV and other projects."
Here's what co-showrunner Cuse had to say about the season 3 renewal (via THR):

(Warning: This post contains major spoilers through the Season 1 finale of Netflix’s “Locke & Key.”)
For the better part of the first season of “Locke & Key,” the Locke children — Bode (Jackson Robert Scott), Tyler (Connor Jessup) and Kinsey (Emilia Jones) — know they have one very serious enemy: the demon Dodge, played by Laysla De Oliveira.
More than halfway through the season, the siblings make the shocking discovery that enemy is actually two in one: an echo of the deceased Lucas (Felix Mallard), who uses the Identity Key to shift into the form of the alluring young woman they know as Dodge.
But come the finale, titled “Crown of Shadows,” the viewers are hit with an even bigger twist about Dodge’s identity that the Locke kids don’t know: not only is she Lucas, but she is also Kinsey’s boyfriend, Gabe (Griffin Gluck) — and has been this entire time.

Netflix dropped the trailer for “Locke & Key” on Wednesday morning, which is the first look at the streaming service’s long-awaited TV adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’ best-selling Idw comic book series about the Locke family and their magical home.
In the trailer, which you can view via the video above and this link, we see the Lockes — mother Nina (Darby Stanchfield) and her children, Bode (Jackson Robert Scott), Tyler (Connor Jessup) and Kinsey (Emilia Jones) — move into Keyhouse, their ancestral home, following the mysterious murder of their father, Rendell (Bill Heck).
It’s not long before the siblings discover the house is filled with magical keys, each with different powers, that could somehow be connected to their dad’s death. That would be cool and all except they also find out that, as Tyler puts it, a “crazy evil” demon is trying to steal them.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “The Good Doctor” episode, “22 Steps.”]
“The Good Doctor” is a way for viewers who have never met a person with autism to get to know more about the differences in neurology and behaviors that may accompany the disorder. For the show’s central character Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a surgical resident with autism and savant syndrome, he hasn’t met anyone with autism either, at least not until Monday’s episode.
When a young man named Liam (Coby Bird) is wheeled in on a gurney, Shaun immediately understands why the boy is struggling with the nurses. Far from needing to be restrained, it turns out he has autism and doesn’t like to be touched. Shaun proves to be instrumental in understanding Liam’s needs and relaying them to the hospital staff. After years of development, the TV series adaptation of Idw horror comic Locke & Key is headed to Netflix soon.
The Locke & Key TV series sailed troubled waters before landing on Netflix.
The live-action adaptation was initially set for Hulu, which ordered (and shot) a pilot adapting writer Joe Hill's Idw horror comic book series, with Carlton Cuse (Lost) set to serve as showrunner. Auspiciously, Andy Muschietti directed Hulu's pilot after Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson had to withdraw. Unfortunately, after all that, Hulu ended up passing on the project!
Netflix, however, came in for the rescue; a rescue that involved scrapping Hulu's pilot. Regardless, the Locke & Key TV series will finally arrive in February!
