After picking up three wins earlier this month at The Game Awards 2023, Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 picked up another three wins at The Horror Game Awards 2023 earlier today. The event also had world premiere trailers for over 20 new titles, as well as a few titles that have already been released that you should check out.
Alan Wake 2 earned wins for Best Narrative, Best Soundtrack (Petri Alanko), and of course, Horror Game of The Year. Alan Wake 2‘s rival this year in Capcom’s Resident Evil 4, which had the unfortunate task of being nominated in many of the same categories. RE4 still earned wins in Best Performance (Nick Apostolides for Leon Kennedy) and Best Survival Horror, while Capcom itself won Best Developer.
The Player’s Choice Award this year, having been pared down from an initial list of 30 titles, ended up going to Black Tabby Games’ Slay The Princess, while...

After the first day of big reveals, Feardemic’s Fear Fest 2023 concluded last night with the Horror Game Awards. Spread across 13 categories (and one lifetime achievement award), the big winner last night was Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake.
The acclaimed remake of the 2005 classic nabbed all five of its nominated categories, including Horror Game of The Year. Meanwhile, Capcom’s other Resident Evil title, Resident Evil Village, snagged the award for Best VR/Ar Horror.
The title closest to equaling RE4‘s total wins was rose-engine’s Alien-esque Survival Horror title Signalis, which snagged the awards for Best Narrative of the Year and Best Indie Horror of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Horror Game Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award went to Mikael Hedberg, lead writer for the upcoming Alone in the Dark remake, as well as Amnesia: Rebirth and Soma.
Here’s a complete rundown of the winners:

First announced back in May, Feardemic’s voting for the Horror Game Awards is now open for you, the fans, to decide the best of 2022’s crop of horror video games. It’s up to you to decide who receives Golden Bats in each of the 13 categories between all of your favorite games.
The Horror Game Awards are part of Feardemic’s horror extravaganza, Fear Fest, which is being run in partnership with IGN, and will take place on September 6th & 7th. The event will showcase the most anticipated horror games coming your way for the latter half of 2023 and into 2024, plus “a ton of indie horror” from indie publishers.
The next night will see Feardemic and IGN present the Horror Game Awards, celebrating the best horror games of 2022, and honoring the developers who made them. That does not, however, mean that you have months to cast your votes, because...

Many fans and critics agree that Resident Evil 4 Remake is a nearly perfect game. The remake improves the original’s controls and mechanics, and, unlike its enjoyably campy source material, Resident Evil 4 Remake is also pretty scary. However, some gamers are displeased with one of the title’s voice actors, and they’ve decided to take it out on her in some despicable ways.
Small spoiler alert: Resident Evil 4 Remake still includes the Resident Evil franchise’s femme fatale of mystery Ada Wong. This time, though, she has traded in her cocktail dress for something more suited to sneaking around a village infested with parasite-infested zombies. Ada Wong is also played by another voice actress. Actually, not counting spin-offs and cameos, Ada Wong is on her fourth actress. Originally, Sally Cahill played Ada Wong, but Courtenay Taylor replaced her for Resident Evil 6. When Capcom remade Resident Evil 2,...

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to order a second season of Resident Evil, its action horror series loosely based on the popular video game franchise. The news, which comes a month and a half after the series’ July 14 release, is not entirely surprising as the drama did not have a particularly strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 and cost vs. viewing is the streamer’s leading renewal criterion.
Running partly in the shadow of mega genre hit Stranger Things, which was released within the same time frame, Resident Evil debuted at No. 2 with an Ok 72.7 million hours viewed. But It did not deliver the big Week 2 bump one would like to see for a new series as word of mouth spreads, raking in 73.3M hours viewed in its second week for a No. 3 finish before dropping precipitously and falling out of the Top 10 after only three weeks. This Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness article contains spoilers.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness explores a time of change for its main characters. Years removed from the Raccoon City disaster that first brought them together, Leon S. Kennedy (Nick Apostolides) and Claire Redfield (Stephanie Panisello) are still leading the fight against bio-organic weapons but from different angles. Set after Resident Evil 4 but before the Kijuju incident in Resident Evil 5, Leon has embraced his role as President Graham’s top security man after saving his daughter from Los Iluminados. Meanwhile, Claire is overseas, working for an Ngo in the war-torn country of Penamstan, where a bloody civil war has left the nation in crisis.
But these heroes don’t stay apart for long. By the end of the first episode, they’re on a new mission that’ll take Leon to Chinese soil and Claire to the very depths of a...

At best, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is a curious detour, non-required viewing for even the series’ most hardcore fans. Set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5, the four-part miniseries tells a story about shady government cover-ups that lacks substance or anything particularly interesting to say. Even series favorites Leon S. Kennedy (Nick Apostolides) and Claire Redfield (Stephanie Panisello) can’t save this CG monstrosity from animated mediocrity.
Infinite Darkness sees our heroes covering familiar territory from opposite directions. Leon is now fully under the employ of the U.S. government after saving the president’s daughter from Los Iluminados in Resident Evil 4, and he even wears a suit while stopping a zombie outbreak inside the White House. Meanwhile, Claire works for an Ngo in the fictional nation of Penamstan, which was torn apart by a civil war fueled by American interests and a few biological weapons. Despite hardly...

Also joining the John Wick and Bosch actor are Adeline Rudolph, Siena Agudong, Poala Nunez, Tamara Smart and Ella Balinska. Netflix revealed its leading cast in the gaming news-filled final day of its Geeked Week event.
The eight-episode drama series, inspired by Capcom’s hugely popular horror game franchise, hails from Supernatural executive producer/co-showrunner Andrew Dabb and produced by Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movie. The series will feature a new story across two timelines.
In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it...

While it remains firmly in speculative, unconfirmed territory, it seems that the genre-defining masterpiece that is Resident Evil 4 will soon join a number of its predecessors in getting a highly-anticipated remake. That’s what previous comments provided by insiders appear to suggest, at least, and given their track record for providing accurate intel before it’s made official, we’re inclined to believe exactly that.
We’ve heard quite a bit of chatter online lately of Capcom’s plans to recreate the series’ most acclaimed installment, rumors that have since been corroborated by several outlets as well as reputable source Aesthetic Gamer, arguably the authority on all things Resident Evil where leaks are concerned. Regardless of how likely it may seem, of course, even the most believable hearsay can wind up leading to an unfortunate dead end, though in this instance, we imagine such an outcome to be incredibly unlikely,...

Two bank robbers take their unwanted hostage into a seedy coastal motel in the dead of winter. When their boss doesn’t show up and their tickets to freedom go missing, the three of them must battle through their deteriorating mental state and find a way out before they turn on each other.
Among Them kicks off with a heist that has gone wrong… Ahhh those naughty heists, they rarely do what they are supposed to! Paranoia and cabin fever set in on our little band of merry men and things slowly unravel. As the opening credits roll, we can hear the soundtrack of the heist, and it is effective. you see. this is what clever film makers do when they do not have the budget.

Sometimes when you’re at a cross roads in life, you do some crazy, misguided things, like head to a rural farm owned by a creepy elderly shut-in. This is what happens in the new independent horror film “The Suffering.” In the film, property appraiser Henry Dawles (Nick Apostolides) has a diminished bank account and a baby on the way with his estranged wife (Elizabeth Deo). Realizing his personal life is in shambles, he decides to take a lucrative offer from elderly shut-in Mr. Remiel (Phil Amico) to appraise his rural estate. Once he arrives, he explores the vast and beautiful estate only to discover that not everything is as it seems. Soon, he closes in on the dark truths of the land, and must fight for his sanity amidst sinister beings and Remiel’s menacing, eccentric behavior. McFarland & Pecci present the teaser trailer for The Dead Can’t Be Distracted. This visually stunning fan film is a brand new take on the Punisher inspired by the recent series by Greg Rucka. The film stars newcomer Nick Apostolides as a younger, more rugged, Castle who shares screen time with Evalena Marie (Steve Niles Remains) as Sargent Cole-Alves. Looks pretty damned good, eh? Filmmakers Ian McFarland and Mike Pecci are aiming to release "The Dead Can't Be Distracted" later this summer. It will take inspiration from Greg Rucka's superb run - pencilled by Marco Checchetto for the most part - which was sadly cut short for Frank Castle to be made a part of the critically panned "Marvel Now!" Thunderbolts series. More promotional images can be found over at Comic Book Resources.

Scorpio Film Releasing, creators of The Disco Exorcist and Nun of That, have provided us with the official trailer for their latest feature film, Murder University. It delivers suspense, thrills, and a bloody good time in the spirit of a 1980's slasher.
Synopsis:
