Dallas’ third season, which wrapped up just last week, will apparently be its last.
'Dallas' Canceled
TNT has decided not to renew Dallas following its shocking season three finale.
“We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga,” a TNT spokesperson told Deadline. “We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Dallas was a spinoff of the CBS 1980s evening soap opera that followed the Ewing family. Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Larry Hagman reprised their roles in the reboot, while Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe emerged as the new series stars, playing John Ross Ewing and Christopher Ewing,...

When TNT began teasing that a lead character would die on the season 3 finale of “Dallas,” there was always a chance that the chosen Ewing could be a minor character who wouldn't mess with ongoing dramatic tensions amongst the group. AnnaLynne McCord is poised to be the queen of series reboots, but her TV visibility means something greater to her.
After a five-year run as Naomi Clark on The CW's "90210," the actress joins TNT's "Dallas" update in its Season 3 premiere Monday (Feb. 24). She plays Southfork ranch hand Heather, a single mom whose strong spirit attracts Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe) ... and mirrors the highly philanthropic McCord's own spirit.
"The CW let us know in the beginning that they do one season of press" for a new show, McCord tells Zap2it, "and after that, it is up to the actors if they feel inclined to engage their fans. It's not the ideal, because we have a lot on our plates as it is, but what really came out of it for me was a deeper connection with the people following me.

The new posters for TNT’s “Dallas” revival will have viewers not caring a lick about who shot J.R. Ewing. The sexy, though probably messy, photos were tweeted out by the soap opera’s official Twitter account on Friday. “You can’t strike oil without getting dirty” one reads, as John Ross Ewing (Josh Henderson), Elena Ramos (Jordana Brewster), Pamela Rebecca Barnes (Julie Gonzalo) and Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe) bath in a pool of oil. See photos: 20 Years of Vanity Fair ‘Hollywood Issue’ Cover Controversy “Get into bed with big oil,” the other says, with John Ross Ewing chest-deep in the crude stuff.

Sure to surprise and please fans and admirers alike, AnnaLynne McCord of hits series "Nip/Tuck" and "90210" is coming to TNT as a long-lasting guest star on TNT's "Dallas."

When Larry Hagman passed away late last year, longtime "Dallas" fans were deeply saddened and wondered how the TNT reboot, which hadn't even begun its second season, could go on without J.R. Ewing?
Having only shot five episodes, the news later surfaced that executive producer Cynthia Cidre and the "Dallas" writing staff decided to launch a "Who Killed J.R.?" mystery in the wake of Hagman's passing, giving the beloved TV icon a proper sendoff.
"Cynthia [Cidre] never hit a wrong note as far as I'm concerned," Hagman's best friend Patrick Duffy, who plays Bobby Ewing, told HuffPost TV.

2012 was a terrific dozen months in television. But even more so for some actors and actresses than others.
In our year-end countdown - which thus far has included the Funniest Show of 2012, the Best Character, the Best Episode, the Best Male Performance, the Best Female Performance, the Best Couple, the Best Villain, the Best Feud and the Best New Show - we've now arrived at the following question for our staff and readers:
Who was the breakout star of 2012?
Christine Orlando: Josh Henderson as John Ross Ewing III on Dallas. Playing Jr Ewing's son is no small role, but Josh manages to infuse John Ross with the deviousness of his father and still makes me believe there's a big heart inside this character. I went into the new Dallas thinking I'd be rooting for Christopher Ewing, but it's been John Ross all the way since Henderson hit the screen.

Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) and John Ross (Josh Henderson) are at full-on war with each other, exchanging tasty one-liners ("They don't drink sake in this bar cousin. The August 8 season finale of TNT's Dallas revealed that Christopher Ewing's estranged wife, Rebecca Sutter, is really Pamela Rebecca Barnes — the daughter of Cliff Barnes and his ex, Afton Cooper (who is also the sister of Lucy Ewing's ex-husbnd, Mitch). Got all that? Oh those frisky Ewings just can't stop sleeping around.
Among the viewers shocked by the reveal was Audrey Landers, who played Afton on the original CBS series on and off from 1981 to 1989. Like many fans, Landers wonders what this could mean for her. While Landers, still stunningly gorgeous at 56, hasn't yet been approached about a return, she admits she's anxious to step back into the world she knew so well.
TV Guide Magazine: Audrey, I know you're close friends with Ken Kercheval (Cliff). Did he clue you in to Rebecca's true identity?
Audrey Landers: Absolutely not! Not a word or hint. I'm amazed they kept the secret so well.

The title for Wednesday's Dallas finale easily could have been a spoiler within itself: "Revelations." The label was also appropriate, given that the episode delivered the biggest bombshell yet to detonate on the TNT show - that Rebecca Barnes Ewing is actually Pamela Rebecca Barnes, as in the daughter of oil tycoon J.R. Ewing's original rival, Cliff Barnes. It was a revelation Julie Gonzalo had to keep to herself when she first signed on to play Christopher Ewing's wife in the oil and cattle-ranching primetime soap opera that is a reboot of the immensely popular 1978-91 CBS series.

In last week's episode of "Dallas" (Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Et on TNT), Rebecca learned that she is pregnant with Christopher Ewing's child. Given that they just got married, you'd think that would be terrific news. But this is Southfork, so things are complicated.
In this clip, Rebecca and Christopher talk about her pregnancy, and it's not the joyful conversation you might imagine. Christopher is still reeling from the revelation that followed his wedding: Rebecca and her brother got close to the Ewings in an effort to make a fortune off the family.
Rebecca says she still loves Christopher and she regrets being part of the scam, but can Christopher believe her? That's still open to debate. And that's part of the reason "Dallas" is cable's most enjoyable soap.

"Dallas," TNT's relaunch of the primetime CBS soap that ran from 1978 to 1991, isn't a reboot of the original series -- it is, as the network's been careful to point out, a continuation. The setting and basic stuff of the show remains the same -- it's about feuding families, wealth, cattle and oil -- thugh focus has been shifted to a spry younger generation, played by standard issue attractive actors as carefully manicured as a high society lawn. The leads are now rival cousins, the shifty John Ross (Josh Henderson) and the earnest Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe), who compete for possession of the family's sprawling Southfork Ranch and the love of Elena Ramos (Jordana Brewster), but plenty of characters from the original run are still around, including John Ross' scheming dad J.R. (Larry Hagman) and Christopher's adoptive father Bobby (Patrick Duffy). This approach isn't unprecedented -- there have been.

Despite TNT’s nearly un-ending hype of Dallas revival, the characters that originally made the show the pop-culture phenomenon it became—Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy), Sue Ellen (Linda Gray), and J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman)—feel more like bookends than actual fleshed out characters, well-known personalities who appear long enough to remind you “oh, it’s those characters from that TV-show your mom used to watch.” It’s clear that the focus here is on the next-generation as two new characters are thrust under the spot light: Bobby Ewing’s adoptive son Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe), and J.R.’s son John Ross Ewing (Josh Henderson). Considering that each son is a carbon copy of his father, it’s safe to assume that TNT looks to be replicating the original family feud—to a less effective extent.

Dallas is back! And so are scheming brothers J.R. and Bobby Ewing. TNT's reboot of the classic primetime soap kicked off with its series premiere Wednesday night, and the backstabbing brothers did not disappoint. But the new version of the show focuses on their sons, John Ross Ewing (Josh Henderson) and Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe). These two good-looking cousins pick up right where their feuding fathers left off. Like his dad, John Ross is ambitious and wants to stick with the family business: oil. But Christopher, who was adopted by Bobby and his first wife Pam, is seeking an...

With a starring role in 2011's record-breaking movie "Fast Five," and a lead role in TNT's "Dallas," which premiered last night, actress Jordana Brewster is in big demand in Hollywood. But that doesn't mean the beautiful Brazilian actress—who married movie producer Andrew Form in 2007—is too busy to think about starting a family.
The sweet actress also spoke to The Huffington Post about motherhood, her Brazilian roots, and why "Dallas" is must-see TV. Check out our interview with Brewster below!
Tell us about your Brazilian roots?
My mom is Brazilian and I lived in Brazil from the age of six to 10. I consider it a huge part of myself, because those were formative years growing up. And as a kid, it was funny, because when I came to New York at the age of 10, I always felt very Brazilian, and then in Brazil, I always felt very American—so...

The first time we see J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) on "Dallas," which premieres Wednesday, June 13, on TNT, he's a frail old man living in an assisted living facility following an emotional breakdown. And for anyone who was a fan of the original series, which became an American pop culture phenomenon during its 1978-91 run on CBS, the natural reaction is: "Oh, no. I knew this was a mistake."
Luckily, we're being set up in that scene, because by the end of this two-hour premiere episode, Hagman's J.R. is a revitalized lion in winter, ready and eager to renew his long-running family feud with brother Bobby (Patrick Duffy) over the future fortunes of the Ewing family ranch, Southfork.
Given the long list of failed attempts to revisit former TV hits -- here's looking at you, "Charlie's Angels," "Knight Rider," "Bionic Woman," "Fantasy Island" and countless others -- it's easy...

Sometimes I find myself wondering, 'have all of the good television shows died out or been killed off?' Favorite shows like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer seem to be just dust in the wind and fond memories. While it doesn't seem like there is any hope of resurrecting these gems, it appears that dusting off the shelf may be just what the doctor ordered to bring a smile to the face of TV watchers. Formerly finite show Dallas is getting a revamp and you won't want to miss a moment.
This summer TNT is giving fans a gift. They've brought back a true fan favorite show and put a modern twist on the continuation of this beloved blockbuster. Unstoppable and powerful show stars like Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Larry Hagman stay center stage and front and center, but the show also gets a boost...

I was just a kid when the original Dallas premiered, but I can distinctly remember my aunts and uncles arguing over Who Shot J.R.?
So when I heard the show that I literally grew up on was making a comeback I was thrilled... and a bit skeptical.
But I recently spoke with Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing), Linda Gray (Sue Ellen), Josh Henderson (John Ross Ewing III) and Jesse Metcalfe (Christopher Ewing) and realized they shared my concerns. Fortunately for all of us, any hesitancy was quickly swept away with introduction of a great script and a high end production. Whether you were a fan of the original, or just curious about the new creation, here's what you can expect from the new Dallas.
-------------------------------------------
Did you ever believe they'd bring Dallas back?
Patrick: No, because I didn't think that anyone knew how to do it as a series again.

Jr, Bobby and Sue Ellen are back. The daddy of Us soaps, Dallas, returns rebooted and repolished on TNT tonight (June 13). Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy all return to breathe life into the infamous backstabbing and belligerent Ewing and Barnes families. But Dallas wouldn't be Dallas without a touch of glamour, sex and youth, so Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe play the two new kids on the block John Ross and Christopher Ewing. Watch the new extended trailer for Dallas: Dallas originally aired between 1978 and 1991 on CBS. (more)...

Just as it makes sense for Netflix, the home of many kinds of niche fare, to fund a new season of "Arrested Development," it was smart of TNT, a very mainstream cable network, to revisit to the "Dallas" franchise. The network and the show, as evidenced by the pleasingly cheesy reboot that debuts with a two-hour episode 9 p.m. Et Wednesday, are a perfect fit.
TNT is all about satisfying most of the people most of the time, and the channel does a good job of churning out the kind of crowd-pleasing, reliably decent, not-too-challenging fare that the networks used to air two or three decades ago. That's not a dig; it's just a statement of fact to say that when you tune in to a TNT program, you know what you're getting and it'll probably be reasonably competent (which is more than I can say for a fair number of broadcast network shows,...

You can’t keep a good thing down. 14 years after their last public debacle, the Ewing family is returning to the primetime limelight in the resurrected “Dallas.” The show officially went off the air in 1991 after 13 seasons, a miniseries, and a TV-movie. TV-movies reunited the Ewings in 1996 and 1998, proving that fans couldn’t get enough drama from Texas’ first family of oil. Now they’re back again and they’ve dragged the kids into it.
The new series premieres Wednesday, June 13 on TNT. It revolves around the continuing family infighting of the Ewings. However this time around, J.R. (Larry Hagman), Bobby (Patrick Duffy), and Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) are the referees to the scheming battles between their sons John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe). Their significant others are caught in the crossfire and no doubt add to the trouble the dysfunctional family makes for themselves.

In TNT’s sexy “Dallas” reboot, actress Julie Gonzalo ("Eli Stone," "Veronica Mars") plays Rebecca Sutter, the love interest of Christopher Ewing (Jesse Metcalfe).
We asked the Argentinean actress what it was like to make out with the handsome Metcalfe (who is best known for his role as Eva Longoria's lover John Rowland on ABC's "Desperate Housewives.") Here's what the 30-year-old actress revealed exclusively to The Huffington Post.
"To be honest, those scenes, the kissing scenes, or the more passionate scenes, are always more uncomfortable to do. Those are the ones that you're like, 'oh no, oh God.' But we make it really fun and we make it very easy on ourselves. We just laugh along the way," she said.
Asked how she managed to get through those "uncomfortable" scenes, Gonzalo said, "It's difficult. Those scenes are always uncomfortable—no matter who you are. At least in my mind I think they are.

Chicago – Dust off your cowboy hat and power bolo ties, the legendary TV show ‘Dallas’ is about to launch again, June 13th, on the TNT Network. Returning as the Ewing family are Larry Hagman (J.R.), Patrick Duffy (Bobby) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen), joined with the new Ewings, Jesse Metcalfe (Christopher) and Barbara Strong (Anne).
Metcalfe and Strong both have television cache as cast members of the recently departed series “Desperate Housewives.” Metcalfe played John Rowland – the hot gardener friend of Eva Longoria’s Gabrielle – for five seasons. Brenda Strong was the voice and conscience of the show, she portrayed deceased Wisteria Lane resident Mary Alice Young, who narrated each episode.
Both actors joined this “continuation” of the TV series “Dallas,” which originally ran on CBS-tv from 1978 to 1991. TNT Network has picked up the show as if it never left the air, with Metcalfe and Strong as members of the Ewing clan,...

"Dallas" heads to TNT next week, and one of the new stars of the rebooted series is a familiar face to primetime soap watchers - Jesse Metcalfe.

Summer used to be a time when your TV choices were pretty limited. But then then the cable networks wised up and realized it was a perfect season to launch new programming, since their broadcast competition had little to offer besides reruns. Whether your idea of great summer TV is light drama, ridiculous reality, supernatural angst or smartass comedy there seems to be something for everyone. Here are the new shows that have our curiosity piqued and the returning shows we're excited to see back.

Actor Jesse Metcalfe was initially hesitant to sign up for a starring role on the new Dallas revamp because he felt the TV industry was already flooded with too many series remakes.
The former Desperate Housewives star had just filmed another new TV show in Texas when he was approached to join the original castmembers of the 1980s soap, Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray, for an updated version of the drama.
But Metcalfe was "critical of the idea" and wasn't convinced a modern-day Dallas would be a hit - until he gave the script a proper read through.
He tells PR.com, "Ironically, I was shooting another series in Dallas that was called Chase, on NBC. We actually didn’t get a full season. We did 18 episodes and I got a call asking if I wanted to put myself on tape for the new Dallas.
"Initially, I was reticent. I was definitely critical of the idea. There’s been such a huge wave of remakes over the last five to 10 years, most of which had failed. I wasn’t looking to come off of one show that was being cancelled and do a pilot that I thought had a great chance of being cancelled.
"But after I read the script and saw the strength of the writing, and how well developed and complex these characters were, I was interested."
Metcalfe actually auditioned to play John Ross Ewing, the part that eventually went to Josh Henderson - but he insists he's happier portraying Christopher Ewing, the son of Duffy's iconic character Bobby.
He says, "I had done an audition for John Ross and there was some interest there, and we were going to negotiate a test deal. But they decided to test Josh Henderson and they held on to him for the role. I think that’s just great casting and perfect. When they came back to me for Christopher, I was thrilled because I really identified with that character even more."...

You're not dreaming: The cast of TNT's "Dallas" 2012 reboot is naked. Together.
In an homage to the famous shower scene during the original series' eighth season -- in which Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy), lathered up and greeted Pam, revealing all of Season 8 was a dream -- TNT had its stars, both new and old, strip down to towels to promote the show's revival.
TNT's "Dallas" picks up years after the original series ended. Original series stars Duffy, Larry Hagman and Linda Gray are joined by a new crop of young Hollywood actors including Jordana Brewster, Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson. Metcalfe plays Christopher Ewing, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam. Henderson plays John Ross Ewing III, the son of J.R. (Hagman) and Sue Ellen (Gray) Ewing. Expect the younger Ewing boys to clash just as much as J.R. and Bobby did, and not just when it comes to oil.
