The Joker has gone through many iterations–a comically diabolical goofball, a sadistic expert of mind games, an anarchist with mental health issues…Now, he’s a daddy, as the Joker is shown as being pregnant and giving birth in a recent issue of his latest comic book series.
In issue #4 of The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing, a storyline titled “Knocked Upside Down!” sees the Joker as a pregnant soon-to-be papa, complete with the actual birth of his little baby boy. According to Cbr, in the story, the Joker wonders what a baby of his and magician Zatanna would look like, prompting Zatanna to cast a spell on him. From there, Joker gives birth via vomiting, which sounds like a panel worth framing.
This has apparently caused some backlash from certain communities–who likely haven’t even read the comic to get any context. The outrage primarily stems...

DC Comics released a first look at its March comics, the first batch after the end of the multiverse-spanning Dark Nights: Death Metal and the pause-everything company wide reset Future State, and from our first glimpse of the solicitations, the big changes coming in Future State look like they might be sticking around.
With the sheer volume of change that DC underwent in the last year – new distributors, new release days, personnel changes, cancellations and FanDomes included – there was a lot of speculation about the future of the comics line. This first batch of solicitations provide an interesting answer to that speculation. It looks like, post-Future State, DC’s changing everything. By keeping some things the same.
Here are our biggest takeaways…

What does Avengers: Endgame mean for the Black Widow movie? We look at some possibilities.
This article contains nothing but Avengers: Endgame spoilers. Turn Back Now!
As the culmination of a decade of movies and the capstone of a phenomenon that started with the first Avengers movie, Avengers: Endgame’s focus was rightly on wrapping up the stories of the original six Avengers brought together by the Chitauri invasion. And nobody’s fate was more tied off than Black Widow’s - Natasha sacrificed herself to give Hawkeye the Soul Stone and give the Avengers a shot at saving an incalculable number of people.
But...doesn’t Black Widow have a solo movie coming out? We admit to being a little perplexed by the choice to have her die. How could Marvel put out a Black Widow solo movie with the star lying dead as disco in a Voromir valley?...

The Legends canon is creeping back into the Star Wars universe in the form of a new one-shot comic from Marvel which resurrects the publisher's classic Star Wars series. Star Wars #108, which is written by Matthew Rosenberg (X-Men) and drawn by a lineup of artists, with a cover from the legendary Walt Simonson, reintroduces characters who first appeared in the late '70s and early '80s. Yes, that means Jaxxon, the green rabbit dude who hung out with Han Solo in a series of Suicide Squad-like adventures, as well as Valance the Hunter, Amaiza Foxtrain, and Domina Tagge.

As awesome a character as Frank Castle/The Punisher is, he’s always had a problem with developing a rogues gallery to equal other Marvel superheroes. This is because he’s not exactly inclined to cart them off to the cops once he’s caught them. If he’s in a good mood, they’ll just get their brains blown over a wall. But if he’s really mad, he might feed them to a shark, suffocate them with a fat dude, smash them into bulletproof glass or simply nuke ’em.
Now, as seen in this week’s The Punisher #1 by Matthew Rosenberg, Szymon Kudranski, Antonio Fabela and Corey Petit, we find him waging war on the Marvel Universe while on the hunt for Baron Zemo, Hydra’s Supreme Leader. Standing in his way is the Mandarin, who’s been sent to the Un to speak on behalf of Hydra.

Welcome back to another installment of Panel Discussion – this time featuring a rundown of my picks of the Top 50 comics released in April 2018. This is part one, a countdown of books 50-26… But first the caveats:
First and foremost this is simply my list and with that comes a great deal of subjectivity. Any art form is a subjective medium and taste plays a major role. So if you feel my rankings are way off you probably have a legitimate point. My hope is to simply to highlight great books that deserve attention. We too often focus on the negative so why not take some time to celebrate the positive.
Since this is my list that also means I can only rank issues I have actually read. There may be a book that is in your top five that does not make the cut. Please let me know. I try...

If you’ve been following what Marvel’s been up to for the past year or so, then you know how much fun they’ve been having with the Punisher. Not only has he turned a lot of heads by donning the War Machine armor in his current series, but he’s also been revealed to be the Cosmic Ghost Rider in the wildly popular “King Thanos” story arc, which the House of Ideas have decided to spinoff into its own series.
As cool as all that is, the demand will always be there for a more traditional Frank Castle – not to mention the purists among you who probably scoffed at some of the stuff we just mentioned. Either way, one of comics’ greatest anti-heroes will soon be among those to get a relaunch as part of the publisher’s Fresh Start initiative this summer.

A change is coming to the Astonishing X-Men in the form of a new line-up – and an all-new creative team! Writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Greg Land (The Incredible Hulk) will take over the series starting with issue #13! And they’re taking Beast, Dazzler, Colossus, Havok and Warpath on a new and exciting adventure in a brand-new X-Men story.
“We’re taking a slightly different approach to our X-Men on this team,” Rosenberg teased to Marvel. “The reasons they are together and what their mission is means that they are playing a role in the Marvel Universe that the X-Men haven’t played in a while.”

Welcome back to another installment of Panel Discussion – this time featuring a round-up of the comics that have been peaking our interest recently…
Old Man Hawkeye #2
Written by Ethan Sacks | Art by Marco Checchetto
One common thread with Marvel comics as of late has been taking concepts that sound ridiculous or just plain awful and making them work. The Old Man Logan universe is one that will not go away. Not only has Old Man Logan taken the place of his younger counterpart we how have this series telling Hawkeye’s story prior to his epic adventure with Logan. Despite the lack of necessity to tell this story Ethan Sacks and Marco Checchetto are putting together a book worthy of its predecessor.
It starts with the art of Marco Checchetto. Sacks scripts have their moments but this is a prime case of art elevating story. Looking at the character of...

Weekly comic book events rarely work out well. It is one thing to have a story that crossover from series to series, but when you have a self-contained book with one writer and a group of artist the time crunch can lead to some mediocre work. As an event, Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey suffered from some of the problems that have been haunted Marvel for some time now, like the inconsistency in the quality of the art, despite those misgivings it provided a much-needed boost to the world of the X-Men.
I do not envy writer Matthew Rosenberg as this story has a lot of inherit challenges most would not be able to overcome. Based on its concept alone it is begging to be this nostalgia piece that simply reminds you of...

The Fly: Outbreak #1
Writer: Brandon Seifert
Artist: Menton3
Publisher: Idw Entertainment
Price: $4
Description: Years ago, a scientist had a horrific accident when he tried to use his newly invented teleportation device and became a human/fly hybrid. Now his almost-human son continues to search for a cure for the mutated genes. But a breakthrough turns into a breakout, and anyone exposed risks turning into a monster as well…
Our Take: Writer Brandon Seifert did well with his Witch Doctor comic but his most recent title, The Harvester, hasn’t fared as well. I have to add that I read an interview with Seifert recently in which he admitted that he didn’t handle gore well. I’m definitely taken aback by this. The guy seems to be catering almost exclusively to the horror fandom, yet he hadn’t even seen Either of The Fly movies before working on this comic?...

Vimeo has acquired Cameo, a free mobile-cloud based video creation app that allows users to shoot and share films, the company announced today. With Cameo, users can edit and customize their videos (called "Cameos") with effects such as video overlays, title cards, and custom fonts packaged into themes (inspired by classic films, music videos and other movies). Users can then share their videos via Cameo's cloud-based network."Vimeo is committed to empowering all creators, and the ubiquity of HD camera phones is driving the largest wave of video creation ever seen," said Kerry Trainor, CEO Vimeo. "What we love about Cameo is that it gives even novice video-makers the power to create beautiful, well-crafted videos."Read More: Do We Need Another Video App? Cameo Thinks So. "Vimeo to us is the benchmark of quality for video platforms and communities," said Cameo Co-Founder and CEO Matthew Rosenberg, who launched the company...

Another video app, you say. Do we really need a new video app? After all, we've got Vine and Instagram Video and countless other applications that are turning all of us into filmmakers (or at least wannabe filmmakers). Now Cameo has launched -- a new video app promising to do for videos what Instagram has done for photos. But what sets Cameo apart from the other video apps? "Instagram and Vine introduced people to video, but nobody has cracked long form video on mobile yet," Cameo founder Matthew Rosenberg told The Verge. Unlike Instagram Video and Vine, Cameo allows users to create a two-minute video (although no shot can be longer than six seconds). The app, which has been in beta for the past four months, has already spawned more than 3,000 videos. Users can shoot 720p HD videos on their phones or tablets and can then edit and reorder films,...

In April, Ghostface Killah partnered with composer Adrian Younge on Twelve Reasons To Die, an album-length narrative that showcased Ghostface's love of gritty B-movies and revenge fantasies, and now Black Mask Studios is offering up a companion piece to the album in the form of the Twelve Reasons To Die comic series. Writers Patrick Kindlon and Matthew Rosenberg constructed a six-issue arc that sees a veritable who's-who of illustrators contributing art, with Breno Tamura (Pigs) and Gus Storms (Space Creep) kicking off the first issue. Twelve Reasons To Die doesn't rehash the album's success. Instead, it ...
