Italian sculptor. Considered one of the greatest exponents of Neoclassicism. Among his works are the tombs of popes Clement XIV, and Clement XIII, and statues of
Napoléon Bonaparte. In 1815, he was named Minister Plenipotentiary of the Pope, and was tasked with recovering various works of art that were taken to Paris by Napoléon. His "Mars and Venus" is at Buckingham Palace.
