The 2011 Cricket World Cup was a completion of a lot of dreams for a lot of people. The Indian supporters got to see their team lift the trophy on home soil, the players got to lift their ‘god’ Sachin Tendulkar on their shoulders and in the background was the fictional simmering story of The Zoya Factor. Based on the book by Anuja Chauhan, Sonam Kapoor (advertising agent Zoya Singh Solanki) becomes the love interest of Dulqeer Salman (playing as Indian team captain Nikhil Khoda) and in doing so provides the luck that completes the preparation of a finely-honed team.
Obviously, in a space where there is so much politics, greed and religion, this is bound to cause ructions with all. Thus, this heavy romantic comedy has been given a full album by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy coming off the back of the success of one beautiful song in Saaho. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy,...

Dil Dhadakne Do is the eagerly awaited Zoya Akthar venture, hot on the heels of Zindagi Na Milengi Dobara. It re-assembles the winning musical-lyrical combination of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Javed Akhtar and features vocals from Siddharth Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhwinder Singh, Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra amongst others. Given the success of Zindagi Na Milengi Dobara, the expectations for Dil Dhadakne Do are more than reasonable and Bollyspice is keen to see how it fares.
The title track certainly starts things off with bang. The techno-rock track features an infectiously catchy hook with decent lyrics to boost. Priyanka Chopra encapsulates the attitude and confidence of the track perfectly but Farhan Akhtar’s vocals sound rather strained at times. Otherwise, the track has all the making of a chartbuster.

Film: "Aatma"; Music Directors: Sangeet Haldipur, Siddharth Haldipur; Singers: Sangeet Haldipur, Nikhil Paul George, Anahita Irani, Suraj Jagan, Alyssa Mendonsa, Anusha Mani, Shefali Alvares; Rating: **1/2 - music entertains, but not out of the box.
The music album of director Suparn Verma's psychological thriller "Aatma" has six tracks. Going by the genre of the movie, the songs fit the mood of the movie. Although the compositions are above average and lyrics are apt, the album is not so delightful.
Sung by Sangeet Haldipur, the first song "Aaja nindiya" is slow. As the name suggests, it is like a lullaby. Going by the lyrics,.

2011 was a great year for music in the Hindi film industry with an eclectic mix of styles, moods, vibes, beats, fresh new sounds and cool grooves. The songs ranged from romantic ballads, to full on rock, to the playful, the funny, the traditional, the internationally flavored ones and everything in-between and even some with the track tinged with a little bit of each. So many of the soundtracks this year were so good that it was not just one song that was killer good, it was most of them. Because so many albums this year were such a good collection of brilliant songs, think Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Delhi Belly, Rockstar and more, we had a tough time limiting ourselves to 25 Best Songs of the year, so we thought why try and decided to go with 50! We now present the 50 best songs of 2011!

Our leading ladies and item girls will be nowhere near half as attractive without the talented singers that voice their musical numbers. What’s more, while our cinematic experiences with our on-screen goddesses have a time limit, our playback goddesses are always with us in iPods, tablets, computers, radios and more. This year Bollyspice salutes the 10 female playback singers who astounded us with their vocals throughout the year.
10. Neha Bhasin
Ms, Bhasin (of ‘Viva!’ and ‘Kuch Khaas’ (Fashion) fame) epitomised the image of a Punjabi rock chick and commanded a nation to rock and roll with her in ‘Dhunki’ (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan). While Katrina Kaif may/may not have done justice to her vocalisations, Neha sure did make a place for herself in our hearts and on this list.
9. Nandani Srikar
Ms. Srikar successfully vocalised a classical indian/rock fusion with ‘Bhare Naina’ (Ra.One) this year and proved that...

Once again our guest columnist Miss Malini brings us the inside scoop on what's hot and this time she lists the five songs that are getting the most spins at the clubs! Check it!
MissMalini's Top 5 Bollywood Songs to Dance to (right now now now!)
So I just burnt a CD (or two) for a friend of a friend who wanted some tunes to play at her wedding sangeet, which got me thinking that really I should keep you posted on the hot tracks in B-town just in case you are a) also getting married or b) know someone who is and have to do the customary synchronized song-and-dance right? Bear in mind this is entirely based on the stuff that I'm currently tripping on (and what I’m hearing pretty much every weekend at my favorite clubs in Bombay.) Here are the Top 5 Bollywood songs to bust a move right now!
