During the Paris Fan Festival, Taz Skylar, the actor cast to portray Sanji in Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action series, opened up about the initial wave of negative comments he faced on social media following the casting announcement.
During the festival’s Q/A session, Taz recounted his very first exposure to criticism and it was around the time when the One Piece casting news came out. He revealed that his friends informed him that his name was trending on Twitter alongside references to his resemblance to rapper Eminem.
“The best way to get me to do something is tell me I can’t do it,” Skylar stated, revealing that rather than being deterred by the negative feedback, he found motivation in the challenge. “I remember I laughed because I was like, you know what, they have a point. I do kind of look a little bit like Em,” he added.

Emperors of the Sea, or Yonko in the One Piece universe, are the strongest pirates who rule the seas. When the series started, the four Emperors who were introduced were Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and Shanks. Big Mom, Whitebeard, and Kaido were previously part of the same crew, with their captain being Rocks D. Xebec. Shanks was a part of Gol D. Roger’s crew.
The Yonkos – One Piece
However, as the new pirate era started, Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido were either defeated or killed by others to bring in the new age of pirates to take their place. The new and current Yonkos of the sea are Luffy, Blackbeard, and Buggy, with Shanks being the only one who has still retained his title.
The main sources of power among these emperors are either Haki techniques or Devil Fruits, which make them extremely dangerous. Among the four emperors, the strongest right now is Shanks.

From the beginning, Netflix's live-action remake of One Piece was always going to face some challenges. Television and anime are very different mediums, and there is always a certain amount of artistic license when adapting the latter for the former.
Most fans would agree that the producers handled this transition quite well. The show scores 85% on the Tomatometer and has a massive 95% rating from Rt viewers. But now it faces a new challenge.
Season 2 will see the Straw Hats venture further afield
The upcoming season of the show will see the crew tackle the Alabasta Arc. This means heading out to the Grand Line, a treacherous part of the ocean filled with potential dangers.
As they discover new islands and encounter some pretty nasty pirates, Luffy and his gang will encounter many new Devil Fruit users and a wider range of Devil Fruit abilities. This may be the biggest...

Dracule Mihawk, the man who holds the title of the World’s Strongest Swordsman, has been feared by many, even though he has never shown the true extent of his powers. He is deemed the rival of one of the Emperors of the Sea, Red-Haired Shanks, and even though he can become an Emperor, he chooses not to.
Dracule Mihawk – One Piece
This in itself speaks of the power he possesses. He was recently seen working together with Crocodile and Buggy, as they co-founded the organization called Cross Guild. Since then, no new update about the World’s Strongest Swordsman has been made in the series, and the fans eagerly await to see what he is capable of.
However, One Piece fans have one doubt regarding Dracule Mihawk that will decide whether he will be a part of the final battle. This doubt is whether Mihawk possesses the Advanced Conqueror’s Haki or not.

Monkey D. Luffy is currently busy battling the Gorosei on the Egghead Island. Defeating them seems to be an impossible task, but Sun God Nika coming out victorious could help the Straw Hats get one step closer to the One Piece. On the other hand, another Yonko, Blackbeard, is taking the easy way with ambushing Pirates to steal Road Poneglyps and Devil Fruit abilities.
Both of them are the closest to the One Piece. Shanks was a member of the Roger Pirates. So, the Red-Haired Pirates also have a chance to steal the title of the Pirate King. But, there is a particular pirate who fulfills every requirement to be a Pirate King. If he only had a proper crew to back him up, he could have easily conquered the Grand Line.

One Piece is based on Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to becoming the Pirate King. Throughout his journey, he has faced several adversaries and successfully overcame them. He also made several friends and has a loyal crew behind him. Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus has been running successfully for more than 25 years and is still one of the most popular anime of all.
Even though Monkey D. Luffy faces several adversaries, there are a few of his fights that have the fans confused. Lack of answers in certain situations confused. One such confusion arose during the Alabasta arc when Luffy defeated Sir Crocodile after failing to do it multiple times. The reason for the confusion is a massive plot hole regarding the introduction of Haki.

Dracule Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in the One Piece world is one of the most intriguing and mysterious characters in the series. Even after almost 30 years, there is not much information available about the character and he has never tried to talk about his past or his role in the future of the story.
Dracule Mihawk
Eiichiro Oda, the mastermind of One Piece, has introduced many such characters that have a mysterious feel to them. For example: Dragon, Imu, Shanks, etc. But Dracule Mihawk is a particular one because despite having some screen time, he is still as much a hidden character as he was at the beginning of the series.
However, Oda has recently made a major revelation about Dracule Mihawk that not only reveals some parts of his past but also draws a big comparison with Zoro who was his former student and possibly his future rival for...

Although it is not very typical for a protagonist in anime to pass away, there are a number of anime series where the protagonist’s demise plays a major role in the plot. The most significant event in the program is nearly usually the death of the main character, whether it’s through dealing a severe emotional blow or advancing the plot by giving the reins to a new character.
Even though some of them might live again in the future, their deaths had a profound effect on everyone in their immediate vicinity. The protagonist’s death doesn’t always mean the series is going to end. It just hands over the reign to someone who is either related to the character or becomes more significant to the series.

What is the One Piece? The one question that hasn’t been answered in 27 years and fans have been still eagerly waiting for Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to finally reach Laugh Tale and discover the treasure and reveal it to the world. But they still have a long way to go before they reach anywhere close to Laugh Tale.
One Piece
The anticipation of finding the reality of the treasure has driven fans to the point where they have developed countless theories about what can the One Piece treasure be. Some believe that it is the journey that the Straw Hat Pirates are going through, while some believe that it is a weapon that will destroy the Red Line.
While these theories have their flaws, there is one theory that has been shared on the internet and it will leave the fans stunned. According to the theory, Eiichiro Oda already foreshadowed the treasure.

When the One Piece live-action series was released, many One Piece fans expected that it would follow a similar emotional genre to the manga and anime. It will majorly be a humorous adventure with some amount of dark and villainous elements to it. And the only character that best adapted this was Buggy the Clown.
Buggy The Clown in Live-action
Buggy is played by Jeff Ward and he did a brilliant job in bringing out the insane and overly dramatic clown who wants to terrorize people and also has a big streak of selfish nature. However, the only difference between the live-action Buggy and the One Piece anime Buggy was that the live-action Buggy is much darker than Eiichiro Oda’s version.
Marc Jobst, the Director of One Piece’s live-action adaptation on Netflix, in an interview, explained the reason why he wanted Buggy to be much more darker and dense than the anime version.

After nearly 200 episodes, One Piece ’s Wano Arc has finally come to an end. In that span of episodes, the longest arc yet in one of the longest-running anime out there, the world of One Piece has changed in ways we’re only beginning to see, and rightfully so. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and forget that Wano marks the culmination of a plotline that began all the way back in Punk Hazard, which began over a decade ago. After such an unbelievably long and ambitious story, it’s only natural that the repercussions are felt all across the world. Starting with the most obvious change, two Emperors have been defeated, which completely rewrites the balance of power in One Piece ’s world. Ever since the Four Emperors were first introduced in the aftermath of Enies Lobby (over 15 years ago), they’ve loomed over the...

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s bestselling manga “One Piece” launched Friday, giving fans their long-awaited chance to compare the eight-episode first season to its print and anime versions.
The manga takes place in a fantastical world where pirates and marines battle for control over the Blue Sea. Young boy Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) grows up aspiring to be the next king of the pirates, despite his inability to swim — a side effect of the magical “Gum Gum” Devil Fruit he ate as a child, which gave him an extraordinarily stretchy body as a gift from the sea, along with the curse that he cannot survive in its waters. Previously, in Netflix’s One Piece Episode 2, Luffy and his crew were captured by the clown pirate Captain Buggy, who sought the Grand Line map Luffy had swallowed. Meanwhile, Koby decided to join the Marines despite having a friendship with the pirates. Luffy’s hat held sentimental value as a gift from Red-Haired Shanks, who lost his arm protecting Luffy. It turned out that Buggy also had a Devil Fruit, known as the Chop Chop Fruit, which allowed him to split his body into parts to avoid getting hurt. However, Luffy ultimately defeated Buggy by trapping his body parts and retrieving the Grand Line Map. In the third episode of the series, we met a new member of Luffy’s pirate crew, and while the crew found themselves in a dangerous situation, facing a treacherous pirate captain, they would have to fight.

One of Netflix’s most hyped originals has finally premiered on the streaming seas: “One Piece.”
From series developers Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, “One Piece” is based on the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. It follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), an optimistic young man who vows to one day be King of the Pirates. In eight episodes, Netflix’s adaptation was able to capture 95 chapters of the manga.
Because the live-action adaptation is so faithful to its source material, that means we can figure out roughly where “One Piece” wants to go if there is a future for this series. Wondering who that man was at the end of Season 1? Here’s what to know about Smoker and why he’s important to this show’s future.

There’s no shortage of visually astonishing scenes in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “One Piece.” If Zoro (Mackenyu) isn’t cutting someone down with a katana between his teeth, then Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) is tearing down a building, one rubbery punch at a time. But there’s one scene that was an especially big challenge for this ambitious show: the battle with Buggy the Star Clown.
“That actually was our scariest. That is the one that we spoke about the most,” Becky Clements, the partner and president of Tomorrow Studios, told TheWrap.
Luffy’s quest to become King of the Pirates takes him to Buggy’s (Jeff Ward) circus tent, complete with a captive audience. Buggy emerges as Luffy, Zoro and Nami’s (Emily Rudd) first big foe. After escaping the showman’s traps, Luffy uses his superpowered strength to punch Buggy’s head off his body. That’s...

Previously, in the first episode of the Netflix adaptation of One Piece, the story kicked off with the execution of Gol D. Roger in Loguetown, where he hinted at the existence of the One Piece treasure in the Grand Line. Monkey D. Luffy began his adventure, showing off rubbery stretching powers acquired from the gum gum fruit and teaming up with Koby. Together, they defeated Captain Alvida and continued their journey. Meanwhile, Roronoa Zoro’s run-in with Mr. 7 turned into a showdown, while the cunning thief Nami was on her mission to steal the Grand Line map. Luffy, Zoro, and Nami took on Captain Morgan to get the map and said goodbye to Koby. Garp learned about their actions, hinting at more exciting adventures to come, including Captain Buggy’s role. In One Piece Episode 2, Luffy and his crew confronted Buggy’s tyranny, and they managed to put an end to it.

Netflix’s One Piece live-action adaptation is streaming worldwide and has certainly taken fans by surprise with some of the notable creative changes, one of which is the introduction of Vice Admiral Garp. In true Shounen fashion, the leading faction of the manga series, pirates, must also face formidable mainstay adversaries, which in this context are the Marines, the peacekeeping administration deployed by the World Government to keep miscreants like pirates and bandits in check. Vice Admiral Garp is presented as the leader of the Marine fleet, chasing Luffy and his straw-hat crew through the East Blue.

When Marc Jobst came on as director and executive producer of “One Piece,” Netflix and Tomorrow Studios’ adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s iconic pirate manga, he had a clear connection to the gig early on, as he had directed multiple episodes of the high-seas drama “Black Sails.” That show, which ran for four season on Starz, features several of the ships that Netflix commandeered to refashion into the bright and colorful ones used in “One Piece.”
While the series’ crew was handling that overhaul, Jobst was working to create an overall aesthetic for the “blue skies” adaptation of “One Piece” that also allowed for the natural incorporation of the manga’s darkest elements, including villain Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward).

The following contains spoilers for Netflix's "One Piece."
"One Piece" is the biggest manga in the world for a reason. Eiichiro Oda's magnum opus crafts a vast and fleshed-out world with a sense of history and lore, a story with complex characters and themes, and an epic story told across over a thousand chapters (and counting). Because of the nature of the story and its intricate writing, to even try to condense the scope of the story into seasons of TV — especially the shorter season runs on streaming -- feels like one heck of a challenge.
This is why it was always inevitable that the live-action "One Piece" show on Netflix would make changes to the source material when telling the story of the East Blue Saga that kicks off the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his journey to becoming the King of the Pirates and find the legendary treasure One Piece.

Film and television adaptations of stories from other media consistently face uphill battles. Even the most faithful of adaptations can ruffle the feathers of the source material’s die-hard fans or lead audiences to question the point of the adaptation in the first place. Anime and manga have had an even harder time on this front as their live-action adaptations not only have to figure out how to ostensibly bring cartoons to life, but also take into consideration a multitude of sensitive cultural issues.
Audiences are used to writing off live-action anime adaptations after decades of being burnt by projects like Dragon Ball Evolution, Death Note, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and this year’s Knights of the Zodiac, with live-action versions of Yu Yu Hakusho and My Hero Academia already in development. There are shows that are hotly anticipated, but "One Piece" falls into more of a "feverishly needed" category. That's no surprise for those in the know: "One Piece" is one of the biggest and most popular franchises in the world. The manga, which first appeared in 1997, is still going strong with over 1,000 chapters. The manga has sold over 516 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling comic book series ever, Japanese or otherwise. The anime series has well over 1,000 episodes, too. That's only scratching the surface of just how beloved "One Piece" is -- there are 15 films and 56 (!) video games based on the series, and you can bet more of both will be coming. Heck, "One Piece" even has its own theme park in Japan.
With that in mind, it's clear that Netflix has a huge task on its hands by adapting the beloved manga and anime series into a live-action,...

Two years ago, Netflix debuted Cowboy Bebop, a live-action adaptation of the beloved Japanese anime about spacefaring bounty hunters in the 22nd century. I found this new version lively and thrilling, but I admittedly had never seen the original. For the most part, it seemed, the most interested audience for it were fans of the anime, and they did not like any of the changes made. Unsurprisingly, Netflix did not order a second season.

It rarely takes very long for Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), the irrepressible hero of Netflix’s One Piece, to announce his grand plan to everyone. “I’m going to be king of the pirates,” he declares, always with a bright smile that never seems to have known even a shade of self-doubt.
It sounds like a little boy’s fantasy the first time we hear it — and the second, and the third, and probably the hundredth too. But over eight hour-long episodes, that youthful pluck starts to seem less like a reason to doubt him than a reason to believe in him. One Piece is a celebration of the power of childlike wonder that itself feels like the delightful product of a kid’s imagination.
To be fair, there’s plenty of reason to be skeptical at first that the young man drifting alone in a run-down sailboat has what it takes.

There is a certain thrill that airplane films provide us with, and this feeling has been epitomized in recent times by “Top Gun: Maverick.” Aviation in films has achieved unimaginable heights, to the point where even the lingo of aviation has become quite familiar to us viewers. We do not need to look up the meaning of the words “Mayday” or “altimeter” every time we hear them. While “On a Wing and a Prayer,” based on a true story, deals with a layman trying to land a private jet, the film is about more than just aviation. Here’s how.
