It’s a battle of the exes like you’ve never seen before in the first full look at Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the new anime series from Netflix.
The two-minute teaser for the show, created for television by executive producers and co-showrunners Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski, debuted during New York Comic Con on Saturday. As part of the hour-long panel, O’Malley and Grabinski not only presented the trailer and teased the series, but confirmed that Julian Cihi will voice the Katayanagi Twins (Kyle and Ken).
The trailer takes fans back to Toronto “not too long ago” as Scott asks out Ramona Flowers, the “girl of my dreams.” But in order to date her, Scott must defeat her “seven evil exes.” Electric battles and even more electric guitar riffs set up a new chapter in the Scott Pilgrim saga, which sees the return of the live-action cast as their respective characters.

The series follows Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), three neighbors in a New York City apartment called the Arconia, who came together in Season 1 to record a true crime podcast about the murder of fellow resident Tim Kono (Julian Cihi). Season 2 saw them investigate the murder of Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), president of the apartment’s board. In Season 3, they seek the killer of Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), a famous actor who dies on the opening night of his Broadway debut in Oliver’s play. Meryl Streep stars as castmate Loretta Durkin.
Steve Martin and John Hoffman serve as co-creators of “Only Murders in the Building”, and executive produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

Bust out the gut milk, Arconiacs, because “Only Murders in the Building” is back (almost). Season 3 of Hulu’s charming comedy starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez returns August 8 with a two-episode premiere and then new episodes weekly.
Season 3 also stars Paul Rudd (first seen in the Season 2 finale) and Meryl Streep (revealed on-set with the cast via social media back in spring). The trailer debuted on July 26 and showed Oliver (Short) scrambling to mount a play and resurrect his Broadway career after Rudd’s Ben Glenroy — the leading man — dropped dead on stage opening night.
“Only Murders” delivers its fair share of serpentine twists and jaw-dropping guest stars in Season 1 and 2, some of which leave a killer impression, while others may have blurred together like Charles’ (Martin) many stories from the set of “Brazzos” (and the reboot). While the show resets to some extent with each new murder and guest cast,...

After solving Tim Kono's (Julian Cihi) and Zoe Cassidy's (Olivia Reis) murders — not to mention outing Teddy Diams' (Nathan Lane) criminal enterprise — the "Only Murders in the Building" sleuths finally got the chance to celebrate their investigative achievements. Of course, as soon as the crime-solving trio popped a bottle of champagne in Season 2, Mabel (Selena Gomez) discovers the body of the dreaded Arconia's building board president. Worse, whoever killed Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell) sets up Mabel, Oliver (Martin Short), and Charles (Steve Martin) to take the fall.
As "Only Murders in the Building" nears its Season 2 finale, it's fair to say that this sophomore outing has been a vast improvement overall. That's not to say Season 1 failed in its comedy-mystery approach: there's a good reason why the second season received 17 Emmy nominations, whereas Season 1 snagged none. Nathan Lane just made Primetime Emmy Awards history with his record sixth Best Comedy Guest Actor nomination, for “Only Murders in the Building, and now has a total of seven bids, but these marks just mean one thing for the three-time Tony winner. “I’m old,” Lane deadpanned to Gold Derby (watch above). “It means I’ve gotten very old, older than I’ve ever wanted to be. It’s a lovely thing. I mean, it sounds impressive until you actually realize I haven’t actually won. But it’s nice to be invited to the party and be part of the conversation for sure. It has a lot to do with the quality of the show, of ‘Only Murders in the Building.'”

JoAnne Yarrow was deep into work when she found out that she had received an Emmy nomination — her first — for editing “Only Murders in the Building.” “All of the sudden I started getting a bunch of text messages and I was sort of silent. “Only Murders in the Building” Season 2 is imminent, just shy of a year since the first season arrived. Taking note of the trend of true crime podcasts and the audience that consumes them, the Hulu show follows a trio of New Yorkers as they attempt to solve a murder mystery in their apartment building.
Starring Selena Gomez as Mabel, Steve Martin as Charles Haden-Savatge and Martin Short as Oliver Putnam, “Only Murders in the Building” combined thrilling suspense with moments of comic relief in its first season. The three Arconia residents bonded over Cinda Canning’s (Tina Fey) work on true crime podcasting, taking it one step further to investigate the murder of their neighbor Tim Kono.
But given that cliffhanger ending, here’s a recap of what happened in Season 1 before Season 2 debuts on June 28.

Last August Hulu released the first season of “Only Murders in the Building,” a whodunit that blended old-school detective storytelling with fresh characters expertly played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. The first season had a lot to recommend. The camaraderie between the trio of leads was infectious, with each individualizing themselves so well that viewers could be a Mab-iac or a Putnut depending on which character one loved the most. It also had some incredibly sharp writing that led to a bevy of one-liners, not to mention one of the best episodes of television of the year (“The Boy From 6B”).

Some good news from Broadway: Take Me Out, the well-received revival of Richard Greenberg’s baseball play, has extended its run by two weeks at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater.
The comedy-drama, starring Patrick J. Adams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jesse Williams, will now run through Saturday, June 11.
The extension, announced today by producer Second Stage Theater, comes just days after Take Me Out opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews on April 4.
Directed by Scott Ellis, Take Me Out also features cast members Julian Cihi, Hiram Delgado, Brandon J. Dirden, Carl Lundstedt, Ken Marks, Michael Oberholtzer, Eduardo Ramos and Tyler Lansing Weaks.
The play charts the aftermath when a big-time baseball star (Williams) comes out as gay.

They’re back! The dynamic trio behind Hulu‘s hit comedy Only Murders in the Building is tackling another mystery in the first official teaser for Season 2 — and they’re not alone. He added, “I’m in L.A. shooting a film now but I shot a couple of episodes before I left and I’m supposed to do a couple more when I get back to finish that particular storyline. It’s such a joy to be on the show...

As of now, there is a lot of uncertainty around Covid when it comes to Broadway. Within the past couple of months, several shows had to suspend performances due to positive cases in their casts, some others had to close permanently, and a couple more are taking hiatuses. The American Theatre Wing also hasn’t announced key dates for this year’s Tony Awards yet.
With that being said, we are now about halfway through the Broadway season, and there are currently 11 productions of plays set to open this spring. Could we be seeing any of them contend at this year’s Tonys? Below is an overview of each play as well as the awards histories of their authors, cast, and directors, plus the opening and (where applicable) closing dates.

Nathan Lane teases his Only Murders in the Building character Teddy Dimas could be back for Season 2—and Dimas’ son Theo (James Caverly) may not be too far behind.

[Warning: The following story contains spoilers about the Season 1 finale of “Only Murders in the Building.” Read at your own risk.]
“Does anyone else feel like there’s still a couple of loose ends?” Mabel (Selena Gomez) asks Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) in the Season 1 finale of “Only Murders in the Building” as they toasted on the rooftop after solving the murder of Tim Kono (Julian Cihi). In the world of the show, yes, there are loose ends as the trio was implicated in a different murder seconds later. And there are loose ends Irl as well because it would really be a true crime if “Only Murders in the Building” did not get any awards love.
Created by Martin and John Hoffman, “Only Murders” parodies true crime podcasts and their obsessive listeners while also being a joyful love letter to them. Mabel, Charles and Oliver are three tenants in the Arconia, a fancy New York City apartment building,...

At long last, we know the true identity of Tim Kono's murder.
Only Murders In the Building Season 1 Episode 10 is the straightforward finale to a show that has taken more twists and turns than we ever imagined possible.
Was it everything you had hoped for?
What a terrific god-damned finale this is going to be.

It was Jan!!! Charles's sweet bassoonist girlfriend was the cold-blooded killer. What's more, she was also sleeping with Tim Kono -- up until two days earlier, when he had broken up with her. Amy Ryan did such a fantastic job as Jan, both in her initial quirky incarnation as well as her demented killer persona.
I'm a sucker for lonely guys with notable age differences I meet on elevators.

Welcome to our weekly column Can’t Miss Episode of the Week! Every Saturday we’ll be spotlighting a different episode of television from that week that we thought was exceptional and a must-see. Check back to see if your favorite show got the nod — or to learn about a new one! Just a few weeks ago this column raved about Evil‘s incredibly well-done silent episode, and here we are again with another one! It’s from a very different type of show, but also worthy of all the accolades. On September 28, Hulu’s buzzy new comedy Only Murders in the Building dropped their own non-verbal episode, “The Boy From 6B,” shot from the perspective of a deaf character. As our three amateur sleuths – played by indomitable trio Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez — come up with new theories for what happened to murder victim and fellow-Arconia-apartment-building resident...

Behind the Scenes of the ‘Very Choreographed Ballet’ of ‘Only Murders in the Building’s’ Asl Episode
When director Cherien Dabis was prepping to helm the near-silent seventh episode of Hulu comedy “Only Murders in the Building,” actor James Caverly, who is deaf, steered her toward the 2007 documentary “Through Deaf Eyes” as research. In it, there is a clip that offers an example of what a person on the spectrum of hearing can experience audibly. To Dabis, it “sounded like a film reel whirring,” she recalls. That became the base of the soundscape for scenes told from the perspective of Caverly’s character Theo.
“He challenged me to say, ‘What is going to be different about the scenes from Theo’s point of view versus the scenes outside of Theo’s point of view?'” Dabis recalls about working with Caverly. “I really had to delineate the two worlds.”

Hulu’s original comedy series Only Murders in the Building has a lot going for it, namely the outstanding acting of its star trio. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez have found all the right notes to hit on comedically and dramatically to create a program that makes you feel warm inside while laughing your butt off. Let’s not forget what the main topic of the show is though: we’re trying to catch a murderer for God’s sake! Everyone loves a great mystery. The writers have done a clever job of giving the audience clues about who killed the victim of the show, Tim Kono (Julian Cihi), without ever getting close enough to the answer to spoil it for us.

The mystery continues to thicken on Hulu’s hit comedy Only Murders in the Building and we have an exclusive sneak peek at what’s ahead in Episode 6, “To Protect and Serve… Tamales.” Picking up where the last installment left off, a clip featuring the first few moments of the show’s next chapter teases a deeper dive into the evidence Mabel (Selena Gomez) unveiled at the tattoo parlor. Standing around the parlor’s pool table where she dumped out a bundle of jewelry she found in Tim Kono’s (Julian Cihi) apartment, she, Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), pal Oscar (Aaron Dominguez), and cousin Tavo (Esteban Benito) evaluate the goods. (Credit: Hulu) “We continued staring at the jewels for what felt like a beat too long,” Oliver says, beginning to narrate the moment in live time, no doubt in hopes of using it for the podcast he’s...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Episode 5 of “Only Murders in the Building,” titled “Twist.”)
“Only Murders in the Building” revealed one of the only — Ok, that’s a lie — mysteries that matters to Charles (Steve Martin) on Tuesday’s episode: the identity of Tie-Dye Guy. But more importantly, it also saw Charles and Oliver (Martin Short) learn the truth about Mabel’s (Selena Gomez) connection to the late Tim Kono (Julian Cihi) — and Tie-Dye Guy, who turned out to be her old pal and recently released convict, Oscar (Aaron Dominguez) — and have to reconcile with their feelings about her duplicity.
It’s not until the final moments of Episode 5, titled “Twist,” that Charles and Oliver actually catch up with Mabel and Oscar, who have gone to follow a lead about someone Tim was supposed to meet before his death and find out why he was collecting all that jewelry Mabel found in his apartment.

It’s not uncommon for stage actors to have less fame than movie stars. After all, it’s easier to show a movie or a television show in theaters across the world than it is to get the world into even the largest theater in any city. However, that doesn’t make stage actors and actresses any less talented than movie stars. In fact, there are many who believe that it’s a more difficult job. Performing live every single night of the week – sometimes twice – memorizing lines and having only one chance to get them right in front of a live

"Light my way in darkness, so I may spread your seed." There have been a handful of films that play with how an alien being would act if it inhabited a human body. What would it make of our strange fleshy bodies? Would it know how to interact? Would it know how to speak? Dominant Species is a short film that also wonders about these questions. Directed by Joseph Sackett, it's described as a "coming-of-age story about coming to terms with the ways you're different." The plot is about 10 aliens in human host bodies learning how to be "men". Short of the Week explains "most of the film is an examination of these new hosts' process of familiarization with the peculiarities of humanity and education in masculine stereotypes." Starring as the 10: Francisco Carrillo, Justin Chiao, Julian Cihi, Marchánt Davis, Vasile Flutur, Zach Fifer, Julio Lousav, Matthew Faroul, Julian Elijah Martinez,...
