It shouldn’t be a surprise that her next project takes place in New York City — but it isn’t exactly a comedic Cosmo-fueled study on women and their relationships with men. “Divorce” was nothing if not unique when it debuted in the winter of 2016. Dark, unflinching, and with a black sense of humor, Sarah Jessica Parker’s return to HBO dug into the nitty gritty details of an act nearly half of America’s married population will go through during their lives. Some viewers weren’t ready to deal with it, but those who were experienced a meticulous 10-episode investigation into the depths of long-term pain and newfound freedom.
Season 2 looks to capitalize more on the latter. As Parker’s divorcee Frances notes in the opening seconds of the new trailer, her divorce isn’t a bummer: It’s a fresh start.

“Divorce” is back on the table, and things will be different this time. Don’t worry: Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church are still together (and creator Sharon Horgan is still there, too), but the second season of HBO’s dark comedy brought in a new showrunner to mix things up — and a clever Season 2 trailer shows that even though Frances (Parker) and Robert (Church) are officially split, this “Divorce” is right on track.

“Westworld,” “Insecure” and “Divorce” will all be back for a sophomore season on HBO.
HBO announced on Monday that all three shows had been renewed. HBO programming president Casey Bloys told IndieWire that all three shows will be back with 10 episodes each, but it’s unclear whether Season 2 of “Westworld” will be ready to return by next fall.
“‘Westworld’ is such a big and ambitious show I’m not sure it will be fall 2017, it could go into 2018,” Bloys said. “We’ll have to see when we get it up and running.”
The pickup comes after creatively solid freshman frames for all three Sunday night series, which received generally strong reviews. “Westworld” is also a solid ratings performer, as its most recent episode attracted 2.7 million viewers in the Live+3 (which includes three days of DVR and VOD usage) ratings.
