Over the last few years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded beyond films and into TV. We've had Disney+ shows like "Ms. Marvel," "WandaVision," "Moon Knight," and more, with varying degrees of success. I've enjoyed many of them, and I like the idea of stretching out stories that need it rather than shoving everything into a two- to three-hour film. Some of the series we've seen made me wish a show was longer or shorter, but the center holds. Flexibility in the length of storytelling gives you more options to tell a full tale rather than have it rushed. For example, I wanted to see Loki get more time than he did as just a movie villain, and the "Loki" series was wonderful.

"Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania" takes us back into the Quantum Realm, but this time we're staying there for most of the film. The world "underneath ours," as Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) tells us after her 30-year stay, is a wild place full of refugees from other worlds. There are strange creatures, including one that looks like walking broccoli. There is a guy with a light for a head named Xolum (James Cutler), a red blob-y thing called Veb, rideable flying creatures that look like stingrays, something that looks like a baby Ewok, and sentient buildings.
Some of the actors who play these roles are big names, from William Jackson Harper's ("The Good Place") telepath Quaz to Bill Murray's ("Ghostbusters") Krylar. However, the entire film is so packed with events, characters, and set pieces that we barely get to know them.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s sting is working.
Marking the first studio event pic of 2023, the third film in Marvel Studios and Disney’s standalone superhero series is headed for a franchise-best domestic debut of 110-120 million at the Presidents Day box office, including 100 million for the three days.
Friday’s haul of 46 million from more than 4,300 theaters includes 17.5 million in Thursday previews.
Ant-Man 3′s estimated three-day number of 100 million would put it 30 percent ahead of the last film.
The first Ant-Man launched to 57.2 million domestically over its first three-day weekend, the lowest start of any MCU offering, on its way to earning 519.3 million globally. Three years later, the second film, Ant-Man and the Wasp, started off with 75.8 million in North America before topping out at 622.7 million worldwide. The preview earnings for the two films were 6 million and 12 million, respectively.
The threequelreunites director Peyton Reed with actors Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.

The first bonafide Hollywood blockbuster of 2023 is upon us in the form of Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." Not only is this the first blockbuster of the year, but it's also the beginning of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is a pretty big deal for hardcore fans of the franchise. That being the case, moviegoers are turning up en masse to see the tiniest Avenger do his thing, with the film posting record-setting Thursday box office numbers.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, director Peyton Reed's "Quantumania" took in 17.5 million in Thursday preview screenings. That represents a record for the "Ant-Man" series, besting 2015's "Ant-Man" (6 million previews/57 million weekend) and "Ant-Man and the Wasp" (12 million previews/76 million weekend). As it stands, the latest MCU adventure is tracking for 110 million over the full President's Day weekend, which would include Monday. However, these preview numbers strongly indicate that the...

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania — the first Hollywood studio event pic of 2023 — started off its domestic box office run with a strong 17.5 million in Thursday previews, well ahead of the previous two films. Shows began at 3 p.m.
The Marvel Studios threequel is tracking to collect at a franchise-best 110 million over the four-day Presidents Day frame (Friday-Monday) to score one of the top showings for the holiday. Black Panther remains the crownholder with 242.2 million followed by Deadpool with 152.2 million and Fifty Shades of Grey (93 million), not adjusted for inflation.
Generally speaking, Quantumania‘s preview gross is on par with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which debuted to 147 million over the May 5-7 weekend in 2017. Preview grosses aren’t always reflective of how a movie will play out, since some releases can be more front loaded than others.
The 110 million estimate for Quantumania includes a three-day gross of 95 million. Overseas,...

Marvel Studios is feeling presidential.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is hoping to open to at least 110 million domestically over the four-day Presidents Day weekend, including 95 million for the three days. More bullish estimate services show the movie coming in at 100 million to 105 million for the three days, and 115 million to 120 million for the four.
However sharp its sting, the Marvel and Disney release will easily score the top box office opening of 2023 to date (granted, the year is only six weeks in) and top the holiday weekend chart.
Quantumania is the third title in the more low-key superhero franchise and the 31st entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Reflecting back on what Arrow has accomplished over the years, it’s very difficult not speaking of Deathstroke when doing so. After all, Manu Bennett’s take on the world’s deadliest mercenary was among those first making the character a household name after decades of being known only to comic book readers and viewers of the Teen Titans animated series.
Strangely enough, Bennett has been altogether absent from Arrow‘s eighth and final season, most likely due to Slade Wilson currently being played by Esai Morales over on DC Universe’s Titans. Still, the Deathstroke persona itself has been permitted to be utilized on The CW – it’s just that other guys have been donning the iconic mask.
So far, we’ve seen Charlie Barnett taking up arms as John Diggle Jr. in the flash forward segments, so it was naturally assumed that he’d be the new Deathstroke...

"This is gunna be harsh!" Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for the most absurd, ridiculous movie of 2018 - The Hurricane Heist. So here's the concept - thieves attempt a massive heist against the U.S. Treasury as a Category 5 hurricane approaches one of its Mint facilities. And this is made by director Rob Cohen, of the infamous Stealth and xXx and Fast and the Furious. Stay away, stay far far away. The cast for The Hurricane Heist includes Maggie Grace as the one and only Treasury Agent who has the code to the vaults, plus Toby Kebbell as a terrified meteorologist (seriously?), as well as Ryan Kwanten, Ralph Ineson, Melissa Bolona, Ben Cross, Jamie Andrew Cutler, and Christian Contreras. Yes, this looks as crazy as it sounds, and not in a good way. I mean, sure, the concept is a tiny bit fun, but this looks...

The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen has settled on his latest pair of storm-chasers, with news emerging today that Ryan Kwanten and Taken star Maggie Grace have landed roles in upcoming disaster pic, Category 5.
Kwanten and Grace now join a cast that already features Ben-Hur and Fantastic Four‘s Toby Kebbell, who closed a deal to headline the drama late last month. He’ll play the part of a meteorologist who, alongside his ex-Marine brother (Kwanten) and a Us Treasury agent (Grace), must pull together to thwart a devastating hack on the U.S. Mint Facility during one of the greatest storms on record.
Blending genres in the hope of creating a pulse-pounding thriller, Category 5 is based on an original script penned by Cohen himself, with help from Scott Windhauser, Jeff Dixon, Anthony Fingleton, and Carlos Davis.
Here’s the official pitch for the feature film:...

Arrow's Stephen Amell makes a guest appearance in Legends Of Tomorrow’s mostly-ace future jaunt, Star City 2046…
This review contains spoilers.
1.6 Star City 2046
Set in a futuristic Star(ling) City with new versions of the Green Arrow and Deathstroke duking it out across an almost-totally-destroyed cityscape, this week’s Legends Of Tomorrow had a lot going for it. Unlike most of the prior episodes, Star City 2046 wasn’t shackled to the ongoing quest to defeat Vandal Savage and instead allowed the Waverider crew to cover all-new ground.
And, when they were out exploring this catastrophically-ruined locale, a lot of fun was had by all. For one, we got to see Dominic Purcell’s Heat Wave and Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold showcasing how different they’ve become, as the former wished to stay in this criminal’s paradise while the latter wanted to get back to saving the world.
