Lifetime is known for its original 'Ripped From the Headlines' movies that retell the events that grip the nation and even the world.
If you have ever seen one, you know it can be challenging to get over the low-budget production and corny writing, but that's part of their addiction.
They tend to get filmed quickly, air quickly, and hire people looking to make a breakthrough acting debut.
However, the astonishing cases they feature are the ones that had a stranglehold over the media for their horrifying uniqueness, and the ones we recommend have some surprisingly big names.
These movies somehow come together in a way that makes them 'so bad, they're good,' just like the breeds of dogs that are 'so ugly, they're cute.'
No matter which side of the fence you may land on, here are the Lifetime movies that genuinely hit the mark.
Believe Me...

Alexi Hawley’s The Rookie, a popular ABC show centered around a rookie cop navigating the streets of Los Angeles, found itself in the midst of controversy after an African-American star accused them of racism. These allegations sparked a firestorm of discussions and debates online and offline, bringing attention to the complicated issues regarding diversity and representation in the media industry.
The controversy began when Afton Williamson, who assumed the role of Talia Bishop on the show, announced in 2019 that she would not be reprising her character for the second season. And why? Because of a hostile work atmosphere that included instances of racial discrimination and “s*xual harassment”.

A few main cast members have left ABC‘s The Rookie over five seasons. Mercedes Mason, who played Zoe Andersen, and Afton Williamson, who played Talia Bishop, exited the series during and after the first season. But the most heartbreaking departure came when The Rookie killed off Titus Makin Jr.’s character Jackson West in the season 4 premiere.

The Rookie introduced Titus Makin Jr.’s character Jackson West during the series premiere. He, Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan, and Melissa O’Neil’s Lucy Chen were all rookies assigned to the Mid-Wilshire station in the LAPD. Jackson’s training officer was Angela Lopez, and the two developed a close friendship over their time together.
Jackson also trained in the academy alongside Nolan and Chen, so they had a close bond.

The Rookie does not shy away from putting beloved characters in danger.
Early on in The Rookie Season 4 Episode 1, we learned that Officer West (Titus Makin) had been killed.
While Makin did not return for The Rookie Season 4, the show still had the lofty task of bringing his character's arc to a close.
The episode in question showed Sergeant Grey (Richard T Jones) reviewing security footage.
It showed Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and West being hurled into getaway cars after being kidnapped.
We got to see West resisting, and chillingly, he was shot, revealing his untimely death.
If you watch The Rookie online, you know the bulk of the premiere focused on the team finding Angela and her unborn child.
"It's heartbreaking," Alexi Hawley explained to TV Line about the shocking exit.
"But I didn't really have a choice. He wasn't coming back, and because of the way we set things up with the [season three] finale,...

Disney Television Studios mounted a panel Thursday at the TCA press tour entitled “Inclusion is Not A Spectator Sport” — a panel on which five of the participants were white and two were Black. According to Tim McNeal, vice president, creative talent development and inclusion and Dma (Donna Michelle Anderson), director, creative talent development and inclusion at Walt Disney Television, that structure was intentional.
“Because these panelists represent decision-makers, producers and executives, a majority of whom are still white, who have the ability and accountability to significantly change mindsets and practices,” McNeal said.
The panel also featured Alexi Hawley, executive producer and writer, “The Rookie”; Brian Morewitz, senior VP, drama development, ABC; Carol Turner, executive VP, production, ABC Signature; Jonathan Groff, consulting producer, “Black-ish”; David Renaud, producer, “The Good Doctor.” Both McNeal and Dma spoke to why Hawley, Morewitz, Groff and Renaud, all white men, and Turner, a white woman, were...

"Each day that passes I can feel her getting further away from me..." Blue Fox Ent. has released an official trailer for an indie mystery drama titled Still Here, marking the feature directorial debut of Romanian-American filmmaker Vlad Feier. Set in New York City, the film is about the heartbreaking story of a twelve year old missing girl and the pain of her family. Following a journalist who is assigned the story, risking his career and his own life taking the matter into his own hands. Based on true events. The film stars Johnny Whitworth, Maurice McRae, Afton Williamson, Larry Pine, Jeremy Holm, and Zazie Beetz. This looks so very tragic and heartbreaking, the somber score in this trailer really bringing out all the emotions. But I think it's ultimately a story about the goodness that we can find in our hearts if only we stop and look. Here's the...

Exclusive: Once Upon a Time alumna Mekia Cox is returning to ABC with a series regular role on the upcoming second season of the network’s light cop drama The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion.
Cox will play Detective Nyla Harper. After a four-year stint working undercover, Nyla Harper nearly lost herself. Now she’s putting the uniform back on, hoping to find normalcy again as she takes on the role of training officer. However, with her home life in disarray, and the demons of undercover life still in her head, Nyla’s got as much to learn as she does to teach. While this is a brand new character, the addition of Cox will likely help fill the void left by the departure of original series regular Mercedes Mason, whose character was killed off in Episode 19 of Season...

Just when you thought the terrorist attack was over, The Rookie Season 2 Episode 1 revealed that it's never a good idea to let your guard down.
It also highlighted that celebrities are a part of everyday life in Los Angeles, which is the only reason why I don't find their guest appearances more annoying, that and the fact that they tend to keep them blessedly brief.
No offense meant to Mr. Cuban, but I don't tune in to see famous faces; it's the stories of these police officers I'm more interested in seeing.
Speaking of which, we might as well address the elephant in the room as quickly as the show did.
Officer Talia Bishop took a job with Atf believing that she'd never have the career she wanted with Lapd after lying on her application.

ABC’s The Rookie reported back for duty this Sunday — on a brand-new night and minus his training officer.
As well reported over the summer, original cast member Afton Williamson exited the light procedural ahead of Season 2, after claiming that the handling of allegations made by her during Season 1, against a crew member and a costar, were mishandled. (A third-party investigation did not support the actress claims; you can read all about it here.) As such, Officer John Nolan was suddenly without his To, Talia Bishop, following a two-week time jump.

Canadian entertainment giant Entertainment One, which is in the midst of a $4B acquisition by toys company Hasbro, has forecast “slightly lower” film and TV revenues for the period April-September 2019.
In a trading update to the London Stock Exchange today, the Peppa Pig firm said the drop was down to “variances in the timing and mix of deliveries compared to the prior year period.”
The film, TV and music division was bolstered by the music department, which reported growth. This was in part down to the $215M acquisition of UK music production-library firm Audio Network, which the company said offset the decline in film and TV revenues.
The company noted that it continues to pivot its film operations to focus more on in-house production. The company pointed to Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, which it co-financed with CBS, as a recent success with $65.8M domestic gross. John Wick...

The actor accused of sexual misconduct by former The Rookie star Afton Williamson has spoken out personally three days after being cleared in an investigation by producers eOne.
Westworld alum Demetrius Grosse took to social media tonight in his first direct public statement since being implicated with harassment by Williamson on August 5, who quit the Nathan Fillion starring show the day before too.
On September 17, eOne said that they had an independent investigation conducted on Williamson’s claims and concluded “that those identified in Ms. Williamson’s allegations did not conduct themselves in an unlawful manner or demonstrate behavior inappropriate for the workplace.”
Williamson responded to the investigation conclusions with “what saddens me the most is that the lengths that were taken to Deceive, Lie, and Cover Up the Truth, were far greater than those made to Protect and Maintain a Safe Working Environment for Employees.”
