The social media embargo just lifted for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and it sounds like filmmaker George Miller has done it again. Given his phenomenal pedigree, we aren't surprised; does the prequel improve on 2015's classic Mad Max: Fury Road, though?
That was always going to be a tall order and, based on what we see below, it doesn't quite match the rights of that gloriously demented ride. In its own right, though, Furiosa's origin story sounds like a worthy addition to the long-running series which kicked off with 1979's Mad Max.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth are receiving widespread praise for their work, with the latter's transformation once again making it clear there's more to him than playing the McU's God of Thunder in the Avengers and Thor franchises.
Tickets for Furiosa reportedly go on sale later today, so another trailer could be imminent. At the very least,...

George Miller’s “Furiosa” is already riding high with first reactions.
The prequel to 2015 film “Mad Max: Fury Road” stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character warrior in an epic saga that spans 15 years for her origin story. Per the official synopsis, a young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth. As they trek across the Wasteland, the gang come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war over dominance, Furiosa faces many trials to find her way home.
While “Furiosa” is set to premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival May 15, early screening first reactions have already gone viral. Both Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth’s respective performances are especially highlighted by critics.

The time has come for audiences to start witnessing George Miller’s newest action epic to see if it takes them to Valhalla or leaves them scrounging for food in the desert. The latest installment of the Mad Max saga spins off from Mad Max: Fury Road and sees Anya Taylor-Joy taking up the role from Charlize Theron. It had recently been confirmed that Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will also be the franchise’s longest film, with the Cannes Film Festival website confirming its 2 hour and 28 minute runtime. While that means the film is significantly longer (by a half hour) than Fury Road, it’s worth noting that this prequel tells a truly epic tale that takes place over decades. Fury Road only took place over two days.
The reactions to the new Wasteland fairy tale have now hit social media. Our own JimmyO posted, “#Furiosa brings us back...

As the audience prepares themselves to witness one of the most thrilling post-apocalyptic world films, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga featuring Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy in the limelight. Being one of the most heavily anticipated films of 2024 as well as the prequel to George Miller’s legendary Mad Max: Fury Road delves deeper into the backstory of the series.
A still from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
The excitement for the film is intensifying as the first reactions of the prequel are rolling out and critics have much to say about the film which made its viewers wait for several years. However, that’s not all as the reviews forecast the prequel is going to surpass Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two featuring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, another film that was released earlier this year that left a lasting impact on film connoisseurs.

The first reactions are here for George Miller’s latest venture into the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
The embargo broke for social media reactions to Furiosa, the eagerly anticipated prequel to the 2015 stunner Mad Max: Fury Road.
This new entry has Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa (taking over for Charlize Theron) and Chris Hemsworth as a devious warlord in a story that takes place 15 years before the previous film.
Early social reactions (below) can sometimes be a bit different (typically more enthusiastic) than official critic reviews, and surely there are many more to come soon. But based on the first batch Monday evening, Furiosa is a visual stunner with “ferocious, wild and unrelenting” action and a story that “spans decades” and boosts strong performances from the two leads.
The question going into the movie’s Memorial Day weekend launch is whether Miller’s epic can jump start the Hollywood box office after a sluggish few months,...

The first reactions for George Miller’s “Furiosa” have trickled in on social media ahead of the movie’s world premiere later this month at the Cannes Film Festival, and it appears the “Mad Max: Fury Road” director has another amazing action epic on his hands.
“Brings me great joy to report that ‘Furiosa’ is really, really fucking good,” IndieWire film critic David Ehrlich wrote on X. “Operates in an extremely different gear than ‘Fury Road’ (in ways that i suspect will frustrate some people), but also manages to make that movie even richer while carving its own legend in the wasteland.”
Entertainment writer and New York Film Critics Circle member Esther Zuckerman called the film “great,” while Fandango’s Erik Davis called the movie “powerhouse action filmmaking at its absolute best.”

What’s so civil about war anyway? Well, nothing, but if we’re talking about Alex Garland’s new movie, Civil War, there is a lot of common ground to be found, as social media’s first reactions out of its SXSW premiere have heaped a ton of praise on the film, citing the sheer tensity, timely themes and a final act that isn’t to be missed.
Check out some of the reactions to Civil War below:
I swear when I tell you I was on the edge of my seat for the last quarter of this film. Insanely tense stuff. A cautionary tale? Sure. Lots to discuss & debate, but the film doesn’t have an agenda except to remind us that when it all falls apart, the journalists will be there to… pic.twitter.com/x79nwcUS6M

One of the most anticipated movies in a contentious Red vs. Blue election year, A24’s Civil War made its grand splash Thursday night in the Texas democratic stronghold of Austin — and the media, on which this feature casts a spotlight, savored it like a stack of beef ribs.
The dystopian future movie is set in a U.S. in which a three-term demagogue president rules (sound scary familiar? He’s played by Nick Offerman). Civil War follows a war journalist, played by Kirsten Dunst, as she traverses a very hostile America.

Screening to a packed audience at Austin’s Paramount Theater, Civil War was revealed to be a tribute to war journalism that veers away from explaining the politics that led to its central conflict. The movie instead depicts the practicalities and horrors of a civil war in modern-day America. The first-blush audience reactions (below) are raves, with viewers calling the film a riveting and haunting movie, while the first round of critic reviews have the film earning an 83 percent “Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Audiences have finally gotten their first look at The Marvels, the latest project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On Sunday, critics and reviewers teased early reactions to “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” many of which are overwhelmingly positive. The prequel debuts in theaters on Nov. 17 — full reviews are set to drop Tuesday.
TheWrap’s own Scott Mendelson joined those who enjoyed the movie. He wrote, “The new #HungerGames is pretty great. Superbly constructed and exquisitely acted, it wrestles with the franchise’s complicated pop culture legacy while thriving as a ‘money’s on the screen’ Imax blockbuster. Zegler gives a full-on movie star turn and Davis is a macabre hoot.”

Early reactions for the latest Disney+ "Star Wars" series, "Ahsoka," are rolling in, and critics and "Star Wars" fans who caught the first two episodes seem to be fairly impressed by the latest series — if not immediately blown away. So far, the Disney+ live-action "Star Wars" shows have been hit or miss, with "Andor" and "The Mandalorian" embraced for their uniqueness and stylistic flair, while "Obi-Wan" and "The Book of Boba Fett" garnered more mixed reactions.
"Ahsoka" in particular has a lot riding on its success, given that the animated series featuring Ahsoka Tano are some of the most beloved "Star Wars" properties of the 21st century. Rosario Dawson's live-action take on Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan was initially introduced in "The Mandalorian," but while Jon Favreau holds the reigns for that show, it's "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" mastermind Dave Filoni who's set to shepherd the new series as showrunner.

Could Taylor Swift be turning superhero?
Plenty of rumours have been spreading lately about the upcoming “Deadpool 3”, including one picking up steam suggesting Swift may be making a cameo.
Read More: All The Celebs Who Have Attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour
According to the rumour, which has been around for years, Swift would be playing the Marvel character Dazzler, who was first introduced in the “Uncanny X-Men” comic series in 1980.
Dazzler is a mutant with the power to turn sound vibrations into light and energy beams in order to battle enemies.
While the rumours are completely unsubstantiated, film journalist Erik Davis lent some credence to the idea, citing a conversation he once had with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, who said Dazzler would be his pick for the Marvel character he’d most want to direct a movie about.

We're a little over a week out from the release of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" — the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2018 Oscar-winning movie — and the first reactions to the film have arrived on social media. And according to critics who were lucky enough to catch an early screening, "Across the Spider-Verse" is "terrific," an "incredible accomplishment," and the "ultimate Spider-Man experience." As you might've expected, everyone is going ga-ga over the work put into the animation, noting how it's "impossible to see it all [and] experience it all in one sitting."
Collider's Steven Weintraub echoed that with his reaction: "Absolutely loved ['Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.'] Wanted to push pause about a hundred times to study the incredible artistry on display. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” first reactions set social media abuzz following its Los Angeles premiere, but Marvel’s first Phase 5 installment saw many critics underwhelmed by the story… and delighted to greet Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily return as Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, and Hope van Dyne, aka the Wasp, with a new mission to further explore the Quantum Realm. Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer reprise their respective roles as the van Dyne scientists and original Ant-Man and the Wasp, while Kathryn Newton (“Freaky”) makes her Marvel debut as the older version of Scott’s daughter Cassie.
Yet it’s clear “Quantumania” belongs to ruler Kang, with Majors’ performance marked as a standout turn. Rounding out the cast are David Dastmalchian, William Jackson Harper, Katy O’Brian, and Bill Murray, with Peyton Reed returning to direct. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” opens in theaters...

The first reactions to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are in following the Marvel movie’s Monday night world premiere, with many citing its weirdness and saying Jonathan Majors steals the show.
Our own JimmyO called Quantumania the best of the Ant-Man movies, tweeting it’s “a beautiful and wildly entertaining flick” that boasts “a great balance of humor, visual effects, and thrills.” He also hit on what looks to be one of the most compelling elements of the movie: the relationship between Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton).

You’ve got big dreams. You want Marvel. Well, Marvel costs. And right here is where you start paying: in sweat 2023 theater tickets and Disney+ subscription fees.
With a divisive Phase 4 of the MCU wrapped and shipped, it’s almost time to clap our eyes on the first of Marvel Studios’ Phase 5 entries: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd reprises his role as the little guy who could, Scott Lang, in a threequel that appears to be taking a tonal diversion. Where both 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp were fun, family-friendly capers that Marvel was happy to churn out despite their relatively low box office payoff, Ant-Man 3 has the Quantum Realm on its shoulders as it kicks off a serious and deadly new dynasty. It’s also handling the job of properly introducing Phase 5 and 6’s big bad: Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

The first reactions to "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" are here — and they are largely about the new villain. Everyone loves Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who is being described as "excellent," "a force," and "fierce, yet nuanced." According to several critics, the 33-year-old actor "conquers," "kills it," "completely rules," and is "having the best time." Others believe Majors is "great as Kang," and Marvel Studios has "found the perfect actor." The new "Ant-Man" film is his second appearance in the role -- Kang is a variant of He Who Remains from "Loki" who needs access to Pym Particles to get out of the Quantum Realm, a subatomic dimension that was first introduced in "Ant-Man and the Wasp."
There's a significant amount of praise for Michelle Pfeiffer too, who returns as Janet van Dyne from "Ant-Man and the Wasp", the original Wasp lost in the Quantum Realm for three decades before she was rescued.

A full-length trailer for writer/director Drake Doremus' Like Crazy -- which won the Grand Jury Prize for a drama at this year's Sundance -- has arrived, and it's heart-rendingly perfect if you feel like sobbing a little on a Wednesday afternoon. Ingrid Michaelson's cover of Can’t Help Falling in Love (get thee to Spotify!) sets the tone for a look inside Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones' long distance relationship that gets put through the wringer when the young British woman is separated from her boyfriend after facing problems with her visa. Our own Erik Davis recently spoke with Doremus, who describes the film as a classic love story with a '70s sensibility to it – something that will hopefully separate Like Crazy from the...
