Tourmaline (Karla Crome) inherits supernatural powers that threaten her fate and the future of The Row. And, after escaping The Burgue and her vengeful brother Ezra (Andrew Gower), Imogen Spurnrose (Tamzin Merchant) and her partner Agreus Astrayon (David Gyasi) encounter a radical new society which upends their plans.

“Carnival Row,” the Prime Video series starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, will conclude after two seasons on the streamer. The second season of the fantasy show premieres on February 17, Amazon announced Monday.
The series first premiered in August 2019 and focuses on the titular city of Carnival Row, where mythological beings exist as oppressed refugees in a human-dominated social order. Bloom stars as Rycroft Philostrate, a detective in the city and a half-fae, who begins investigating a conspiracy involving a group of fae known as the Black Raven — one of whom is his former lover Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne). Season 2 picks up where the first left off, with Rycroft off the force but still investigating a series of murders, while the Black Raven escalates their plans to protest oppression in the city.

The first season of Carnival Row was released through the Amazon Prime streaming service way back in August of 2019, so it would make sense if you thought the show was already cancelled years ago. But a second season of the show was ordered before the first season had even premiered, and it’s finally going to be released on February 17th. Not surprisingly, given the long delay between seasons, Amazon has confirmed that Carnival Row season 2 is going to be the end of the show.
Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, Carnival Row is set
in a Victorian fantasy world of mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. Bloom plays human detective, Rycroft Philostrate, while Delevingne stars as a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss. In Season 1, they rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society and Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo...

It's been a long, long wait since season 1 of "Carnival Row" debuted on Prime Video to generally positive reactions (/Film's Vanessa Armstrong reviewed the first season here). Fans have anxiously waited since August of 2019 to find out what happens next in the dystopian fantasy series that doesn't seem that much more heightened than our own world. With the recent news that season 2 will bring the series to a grand conclusion, Prime Video subsequently dropped a brief but evocative new teaser for the next installment of the show.
Focusing on issues of immigration, oppression, power grabs, an ongoing murder-mystery, and even a will-they/won't they romance at the heart of it all, "Carnival Row" quickly made itself feel wholly relevant to our own turbulent political times ... though with the added distinction of exploring these topics through characters who happen to be mythical, wing-sprouting "fae," goblins, fauns, and other mythological creatures.

Early talk about Carnival Row seemed determined to compare it to HBO powerhouse Game of Thrones.
The idea was that fans of the fantasy genre hoping to find their next obsession need look no further than Carnival Row to get their fix.
Carnival Row is no Game of Thrones. It's not even close.
Created by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham, Carnival Row follows mythical creatures who have fled their war-torn homeland and gathered in a city called The Burgue. Tensions are simmering between citizens of The Burgue and the growing immigrant population.
If it sounds a lot like a heavy-handed political message crafted into a fantasy television series, that's because it is.
Featuring a star-studded cast, Carnival Row nonetheless plods laboriously along while pounding viewers in the head with a mallet to get their point across.
Essentially, white old men bad, everyone else good.
I wish I could say that's an exaggeration,...

The race to replace “Game of Thrones” has its latest entrant, with Amazon’s new “Carnival Row,” a series that combines fantasy, melodrama, ultraviolence, and strained political allegory. But, for now, the “Thrones” legacy seems safe: This new series reaches for credibility with gruesomeness and exaggeration, falling flat at every turn. It’s painful proof that a genre success cannot be reverse-engineered.
That engineering does seem solid: “Carnival Row,” renewed for a second season before its first has aired, was built to last in our current Comic-Con-fueled universe. Its marquee stars are Orlando Bloom (of the “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” cinematic universes) and Cara Delevingne, and it tells a story whose nastiness would appear, in theory, to be ameliorated by the dreamy magic at its margins.
The show takes place in a sort of fantastical Victorian era in which guns and bombs are real, but...

‘Nekrotronic.’
Kiah Roache-Turner’s Nekrotronic opened in the Us last weekend as a multi-platform release.
Momentum Pictures launched the sci-fi horror comedy starring Monica Bellucci, Ben O’Toole, David Wenham, Caroline Ford, Tess Haubrich and Bob Epine Savea in cinemas in 10 cities and on VOD and digital HD.
The eOne-owned distributor did not share box office figures, which are typically modest for day-and-date releases. The benefit of the theatrical exposure is that the reviews and publicity give the film a profile which pays off in ancillary revenues.
The director trimmed five minutes of exposition scenes after the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, resulting in more favourable reviews, particularly from genre websites.
For example, We Are Movie Geek’s Marc Butterfield hailed the film as “hilarious, fun, action packed, and full of gross, splashy, gooey moments; in other words, fantastic.”

Coming from writer and director Kiah Roache-Turner, I was very much looking forward to new Australian horror comedy Nekrotronic. His previous movie Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead was a fantastic all action kick up the ass that the zombie genre needed, so a new movie from him about demons sounded even more intriguing. And we’ve had to wait five long years for it!
It would be too simple to say this is a movie about ghosts. Even if you opened that up a little and said it was a ‘supernatural’ movie, that would be too simple. Because this involves demons, the Internet, zombies (kind of), possession and yes, ghosts.

From Guerrila Films and Hopscotch Features, directed by Kiah Roache-Turner, debuted in 2018 Canada during the Toronto International Film Festival.
This is a B movie by even the most generous standards, but like it’s predecessor, Wyrmwood, it’s a great one, depending upon how much you like these kinds of movies. While Wyrmwood took on the zombie apocalypse, Nekrotronic takes on demons, demonic possession, and the dangers of cell phone life. Movies out of Australia always seem to have a better sense of humor about these things than the stock American films (with Zombieland being a notable exception). The cast handles their roles with appropriate amounts of gravity and incredulity. The plot, in a nutshell, is about Howard North, a sewage maintenance worker who by chance finds out his true identity in the middle of an attempt by demons to gain dominion over the world by...

Amazon Prime has launched a new trailer for their neo-noir fantasy ‘Carnival Row’ starring Orland Bloom and Cara Delevingne.
Based on Travis Beacham’s ‘A Killing on Carnival Row’, Carnival Row is a series set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing population struggles to coexist with humans — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate (Bloom), and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbours a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.
Joining Bloom and Delevingne, the series also stars Simon McBurney (The Borgias) as Runyan Millworthy, an eccentric travelling showman who leads a...

Momentum Pictures has released an official trailer for Nekrotronic, the next indie horror comedy film from the Australian director of Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, Kiah Roache-Turner. A film about an internet demon and the secret hunters who bring them down, the film looks like a surreal descent into wacky, neon-soaked madness. Ben O'Toole plays Howard 'Howie' North, a down-on-his-luck sewage worker dragged into a global conflict, while the great Monica Bellucci plays the villain, an evil demon who absorbs people's souls to gain more power. The rest of the cast includes David Wenham, Caroline Ford, Tess Haubrich, Benedict Hardie, and Epine Bob Savea. Nekrotronic premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. Now Momentum will release it in select...

Following its crowd-pleasing premiere at Tiff last year, the supernatural cyber-centric horror thriller Nekrotronic will be unleashed this August from Momentum Pictures, and ahead of its release, the film's official trailer teases plenty of high-tech, demonic carnage in the latest movie from Kiah Roache-Turner (Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead).

"Suck on this!" Momentum Pictures has debuted an official trailer for the indie action horror comedy film Nekrotronic, made by Australian filmmaker Kiah Roache-Turner (Wyrmwood). This wacky, trippy, neon-filled demon hunter film is about a man who discovers that he is part of a secret sect of magical beings who hunt down and destroy demons in the internet. Ben O'Toole plays Howard 'Howie' North, a down-on-his-luck sewage worker dragged into a global conflict. Monica Bellucci plays the villain, an evil demon who absorbs people's souls to gain more power. The full cast includes David Wenham, Caroline Ford, Tess Haubrich, Benedict Hardie, and Epine Bob Savea. This reminds of all these amazing films I'd find in the back corner of my local VHS rental store, totally weird & badass & so fun. This actually looks mega cool. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Kiah Roache-Turner's Nekrotronic, direct from YouTube: Howard 'Howie'...

Ben O’Toole.
After graduating from Waapa in 2011, Ben O’Toole played policeman Pete for three seasons of Love Child, had supporting roles in The Water Diviner and Hacksaw Ridge and co-starred in the Us movies Detroit and 12 Strong.
The Brisbane-born actor plays the leads in Alister Grierson’s comedic thriller Bloody Hell and in Kiah Roache-Turner’s horror-comedy Nekrotronic, yet he is far from satisfied with where he is at in his career.
“I still have a lot more to learn; I have much further to go,” says O’Toole, who has bases in Sydney and Los Angeles, the latter with actor-director housemate Kick Gurry.
Working with Mel Gibson on Hacksaw Ridge and with Chris Hemsworth on 12 Strong were great learning experiences.
“Mel was incredible and very powerful in communicating what he wanted us to do, and he encouraged Vince Vaughn and me to improvise,” he says.

‘Nekrotronic.’
Kiah Roache-Turner’s sci-fi horror comedy Nekrotronic will be released in the Us in select cinemas and on VOD and digital HD on August 9 by Momentum Pictures.
“I’m really excited: I think day-and-date is the future for most independent films in the Us,” Kiah tells If. “Some say it is the end of cinema but it’s not: it’s a different way of delivering films to eyeballs.”
One advantage of the day-and-date strategy is limiting the potential for piracy. The Roache-Turner brothers’ Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead was available on iTunes in the Us before the Australian release. “Piracy killed us,” he says.
Produced by Andrew Mason and Troy Lum for Hopscotch Features and Tristan Roache-Turner for Guerrilla Films, Nekrotronic stars Monica Bellucci as Finnegan, CEO of the sinister Daemokon corporation, who is determined to feast on every human soul on the planet via a new smartphone app.
