Guerilla filmmaker Ron Purtee is taking his unique approach to filmmaking in an entirely new direction. His new project The Sole Survivor is one man's look at surviving in a post-apocalyptic world.
The Sole Survivor stars Purtee in a series of video blog postings which are being done by a survivor of a horrific event. We're not sure exactly what happened yet, but we know the government was in on it. Yikes! Trying to reach out and contact others that may be in a similar situation, Purtee's character, John, is left with no choice but to behave in the same fashion as his tormentors.
Episodes 1 and 2 are currently available and we have them below. Never one to sit still for long, Purtee has also launched The Ron Experience webcast and has lots of other entertaining genre related stuff on his website RonPurtee.com. Check out the first two installments of...

He's given us a Nightmare. Subjected us to a Social Media Massacre. And taught us that Love Is Not Enough. Indie director Ron Purtee has crept into our psyche with his low-budget, high-tension films. Now he's at it again with a new web series entitled The Sole Survivor, and this time Ron is in front of the camera!
The Sole Survivor launches its pilot episode on March 15, and Purtee could not be more excited about it. "I really wanted to get in front of the camera for once. It's very rare that I'm given a chance like that, and I decided that I should take it now," Purtee said. "The vlog style really lends to me being able to direct and act at the same time."
Take a look at the trailer below, and head over to the Facebook page for The Sole Survivor and give them a like! You...

Okay, gorehounds, one of the busiest men in indie horror has a new offering for us. Ron Purtee, creator of The Social Media Massacre and Love Is Not Enough, brings us some clown-flavored horror with his newest short film, Nightmare.
Written and directed by Purtee and featuring Krystle Street as the target of aggression, Nightmare introduces us to Frankie the Clown (Brandon Nichols), who's definitely got a little Pennywise in him but sports a chin that is right out of The Killing Joke. Visual effects were done by Brandon Nichols and assistant Amber Rose Rodriguez (Love Is Not Enough).
And now, for all you fans of Ron Purtee's work, we give you a Nightmare. If you dig it, be sure to "like" Nightmare on Facebook

Once again, the busiest man in indie horror is up to his old tricks. The creator of The Social Media Massacre and Love is Not Enough, Ron Purtee, has a new trailer with which to haunt us. Be the first on your block to take a sneak preview at his new film, Nightmare.
As any good showman knows, you don't give away too much, you leave them wanting more, and Purtee does a great job of that with his new trailer. What we can glean from a viewing is there seems to be a some kind of homicidal clown with an extremely flammable axe and a girl trying to get away from him. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.
Scroll down and take a look. We'll keep eye out for more updates from Purtee and give you all the info we can find. Enjoy the teaser!

The twisted mind of Ron Purtee never stops working. Creating Becoming Undead and The Social Media Massacre simply wasn't enough for this iron horse of horror (if he keeps up this pace we'll soon have to refer to him as the Cal Ripken of rippage!). His newest offering is a short entitled Love Is Not Enough and, as we can expect from all Purtee's work, it cuts right to the heart (and I mean that in the most literal sense possible).
Written and directed by Purtee, Love Is Not Enough is a unique look at infidelity. And as horror fans, we all know that rubbing your neighbor's rhubarb is never a good idea. From old Tales From The Crypt stories to Fatal Attraction, horror has never been kind to the unfaithful, and Purtee's new film is no different.
Shot in a unique style with a voice-over providing narration instead of traditional dialogue,...

Fans of Ron Purtee's Social Media Massacre short film series will be delighted to know that the mind of the twisted director has been anything but idle since wrapping that project. In fact, Purtee just released a brief, but telling teaser trailer for his newest short film Love Is Not Enough.
Written and directed by Ron Purtee and starring Tina Renee Grace, Brandon Nichols and Amber Rose Rodriguez, with special F/X by Braindead FX, this film teaches us the same lesson as we learned in Fatal Attraction and any number of other films about infidelity. Never dip your brush in the wrong can. Love the one you're with? Not always the best idea.

These days, a lot of film-makers are taking their films to the digital world via outlets like YouTube. Sometimes they are terrible, other times they are surprisingly good. Whichever the case may be, it's exciting to see more underground films show up for free to watch. Variety is good.
With that said, check out an online web series called "From The Heart" under the official release and decide for yourself if this is something that you want to continue to see for free or not.

The creator of The Social Media Massacre webseries, Ron Purtee, has proudly announced that the newest episode of the series is now available online, and "From the Heart" is perhaps the most gruesome entry in the collection thus far.
Starring Shaun McGregor, Nikki Farce and Brandon Nichols, "From the Heart" was written by Garry Charles and directed by Purtee with visual FX by Nichols and Amber Rose Rodriguez. This film is certainly a twisted vision as to what could happen when jealously, insanity and social networking all collide.

Kelsey Zukowski is a talented young screenwriter/actress based in the Chicago area. In the past year the DePaul University graduate has made a name for herself in the indie film scene, especially in horror. I predict big things from Miss Zukowski! Check out my latest Versus with Kelsey Zukowski to learn more about her, some current projects and advice she has for you, oh and this thing called bacon.
Brian S- First off, who are you and where did you come from?
Kz- Hello, I’m Kelsey. I’m from Eastlake, Oh, a suburb outside if Cleveland. I’m extremely passionate about the horror genre and am a huge film fanatic. I really love writing and acting in interesting films that question the dynamics in human nature and societal norms. I tend to be attracted to the darker side of this, it’s just very enthralling for me to examine.

In a very short time, filmmaker Ron Purtee is becoming quite the expert on creating no-budget shorts. His first effort, Becoming Undead, garnered a lot of attention from Internet audiences and led to Purtee’s next project - The Social Media Massacre, which the filmmaker hopes will some day become a trilogy of films.
Dread Central recently caught up with Purtee to find out what some of his favorite independent genre flicks are.

Well, the kills are some of the most inventive things I've ever seen. Made me not want to do my laundry for a week. My family was less than happy.
