"You didn't tell me she's funny." RadioactiveGiant has debuted an official trailer for an indie film titled By the Rivers of Babylon, previously known as Caretaker, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Albert Sandoval. The description for this is a bit vague but sets up the plot of this psychological thriller: dementia and deceit haunt a widow as her estranged son and the new caretaker share her home. The dark drama stars Crispin Glover, Connie Stevens, Mark Boone Junior, Sam Quartin, Joely Fisher, Adam Tomei, and Dakota Buchanan. This looks unsettling, quite a few creepy things going on. Glover looks gnarly with that big burly mustache, but his accent is a bit hokey. Not sure what else I can say about this. Watch below. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Albert Sandoval's By the Rivers of Babylon, from YouTube: Dementia and deceit haunt a widow as her estranged son...

Indie company RadioactiveGiant has acquired the rights to develop, produce and distribute "Miskatonic," a feature film inspired by the works of acclaimed horror author H.P. Lovecraft.
Not a direct adaptation of one of his works like "The Call of Cthulhu" or "The Shadow Over Innsmouth," instead this will be an original work created in the Lovecraft tradition which melds science fiction and horror in a period setting.
Miskatonic refers to a fictional university located in the fictional Massachusetts town of Arkham. First appearing in Lovecraft's "Herbert West: Reanimator" story, references to the school and its various professors popped up in numerous works from his Cthulhu Mythos including "The Dunwich Horror," "The Shadow Out of Time," "The Dreams in the Witch House," "The Whisperer in Darkness" and "At the Mountains of Madness".
Albert Sandoval will direct from a script by Devlin Mann and Stephen Dare. Sandoval and Daemon Hillen will produce.

A few details have emerged for the mysterious thriller Caretaker. This film is being developed by production house Radioactive Giant and their subsidiary RG360. In the film, a son returns to his childhood home and his mother is struggling with dementia. A caretaker is hired to look after the family grounds, but no one is as they appear to be. This horror title is expected to complete in 2015. A concept poster is available here, with more crew details below. The poster shows the film's central setting, an ancient mansion. The darkness on the grounds alludes to the film's inner mysteries, which involve identity. Strange clouds are brewing in this early graphic. As well, a second graphic at the Radioactive Giant website focuses on this remote setting, but the mansion looks even more menacing. Perhaps, Caretaker will be a haunted house feature. More details on the film will be posted as they become available.

We return with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes details on a Wes Craven art exhibition, the first sighting of Megafoot, a 100 zombie films graphical print, first photos from Australian Horror film, Barrow, an interview with actor, writer, and filmmaker Sean Stone, and much more:
The Horror Legacy of Wes Craven Exhibit Details: “Wes Craven has been feeding our collective horror consciousness since 1972, when his first feature, “The Last House on the Left,” debuted. That film was gritty, raw and terrifying, it still causes a guttural reaction some 40 years later. In his career, Wes has created some of the most memorable moments in horror cinema, from the torture scene in “The Serpent and the Rainbow,” to the Johnny Depp’s explosive scene in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” to the first glimpse of Michael Berryman’s savagery in “The Hills Have Eyes.

I love a good dark comedy so Killing Winston Jones sounds like a good one based on the casting news. Variety reports that Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Masterson, Danny Glover and Jon Heder have joined the cast.
Joel David Moore (Bones, Avatar) is directing based on a script from Justin T. Winter. Story follows "a sixth-grade English teacher (played by Masterson) who's on a mission to get the newly constructed junior high gymnasium named after his father (Dreyfuss) despite the fact that the person so memorialized must be dead -- leading to a bitter contest over the naming rights with his old rival (Glover)."
Killing Winston Jones is being produced by RadioactiveGiant's Albert Sandoval and Daemon Hillin. This is the first feature film for the company. Tom Somerset and Peter Winther are serving as exec producers. Filming begins Monday in Savannah, Ga. The film will be released in theaters and the typical platforms.
