Sally David received her BA in English from Mount Holyoke College, her
Masters in Teaching from Boston College, and a certificate in
Professional and Technical Writing from The University of
Massachusetts. Her poems have appeared in publications that include The
Worcester Review (MA), Anthology (AZ), Athena (CA), and New Voices
(Anthology; Israel); one poem earned an Honorable Mention from Writers
Digest, and another an award and praise conferred by Pulitzer Prize
winner Mary Oliver in 1983. Sally's opportunity to reside at the VCCA
to complete her book was supported in writing by two-time Pulitzer
Prize winner Richard Wilbur and by award-winning poet David Wojahn,
with whom Ms. David studied in 1985.
Sally David taught for the Johns Hopkins University CTY Program and Maimonides School (MA) as well as Westfield State College (MA) and the Massachusetts School of Law. She is the mother of two girls; her daughters and many former students [Etan Cohen; Joel Tauber; Abby Beshkin; Roz Dzelzitis Dorelli] are highly successful writers and thinkers.
Sally David currently serves on the board (2014) at Billions Rising Self Reliance Foundation and is CEO at writersforgood.com, an organization she founded in 2010 to mentor and fund writers whose work inspires or contributes to society. Sally is finally completing her book of poetry.
