Plane is an action thriller film directed by Jean-François Richet and starring Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, Yoson An and Tony Goldwyn.
Gerard Butler, the man that lives his film life (lately above all) this time around saves some passengers from the dangers in the jungle and their hostile inhabitants
About the Movie
This man who seems to be wearing blockbuster on his t-shirt, knows what he is doing and, although he tried his luck (with Katherine Heigl in The Ugly Truth) in romance, seems to fare better in living in danger and saving lives with his rough yet effective style.
Plane (2023)
Butler is not the kind of guy to be delivering kicks, his style is more about adapting to a situation and thanks to his kindness and his luck, saving the world like that because he can.
Plane is an excercise in making an entertaining action movie for all audiences...

Shin’ichirô Watanabe, a key member of the original Cowboy Bebop‘s creative team, has weighed in on Netflix’s recent live-action take — and it’s safe to say he wasn’t a fan.
“For the new Netflix live-action adaptation, they sent me a video to review and check. It started with a scene in a casino, which made it very tough for me to continue,” said Watanabe, who wrote and directed several episodes of the late-’90s anime series, in a recent Forbes interview. “I stopped there and so only saw that opening scene. It's been over a year since Netflix's live-action adaptation of "Cowboy Bebop" began then ended, but it was clear the project was a misfire long before now. The series was canceled three weeks after premiere, lightning speed even by Netflix standards. It turns out that one of those disappointed was the anime's primary creator, animation director Shinichirō Watanabe (he and his team are collectively credited as the creator "Hajime Yatate").
Before Netflix's "Cowboy Bebop" premiered, Watanabe revealed he'd been asked for his input: "I read the initial concept and provided my opinions, but I'm not sure if they will be reflected in the final product." He added that his suggestions being ignored would "leave a bad taste in [his] mouth," but to avoid making the crew's jobs tougher, he would simply hope it "turn[ed] out good." His hopes weren't met.

Plane isn’t stupid enough. The title of this Gerard Butler action thriller, which should only be said with the monosyllabic matter-of-factness of a toddler at an airport, is so boneheaded that it craves chaotic genius in return. But Plane is stifled by just how ordinary it is, and how closely it hews to the standard tropes of action films with longer, more descriptive – yet less ridiculous – titles.
Here, Butler is parachuted into the exact kind of cheap, vaguely racist action flick that dominated the Eighties and Nineties. He plays Brodie Torrance, a commercial pilot heading up a New Year’s Eve flight from Singapore to Tokyo. It’s a budget airline. There are only 14 passengers onboard – plus, of course, a convicted criminal named Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), who’s being transferred between prisons. The plane is caught up in a violent storm that Brodie is ordered to fly through.

The year 2023 boasts interesting, highly-anticipated movies, from action flicks to historical dramas. One of the newest films to hit theaters is Plane, starring Gerard Butler as a strong-willed commercial pilot. With the actor’s history of playing the tough, determined “everyman,” fans have been lining up to see his latest project. Interestingly, Plane is a movie that has been a few years in the making. With a release date that has changed at least once, many fans are curious about the process of getting the flick to the big screen and which stars are featured in the film.

Pilot Brodie Torrance saves passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island — only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When dangerous rebels take most of the passengers hostage, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare, an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI.
With the release of M3gan, Sick, The Old Way, and now Plane, it seems that we may be finally leaving behind the “January movie,” if you know what I mean. It’s notorious that Hollywood usually tends to dump the worst movies possible in the month of January to essentially bury them. You can imagine the committee meetings devoted to finding just the right title for primo action star Gerard Butler’s latest, in which he plays an airline pilot encountering lightning strikes that force him to crash-land on a rebel-infested remote island in the Philippines. As it criss-crosses the airline disaster genre and frightening jungle thriller, why not just tell the public what it really is. While it could be called Terror Island, or maybe Pirates Jungle, or Flight to the Death, the producers came up with the inspired plain Plane. That works well enough for anyone expecting Airport meets The High and the Mighty, but really it is just the first half that fits snugly into that category, nail-biting as it is.

January is rarely a time for blockbuster cinema. In the rare case that it is, we're dealing with a holdover from December released the previous year. Or, it's something so bad that the studio has little faith in that they decide to dump it early in the year rather than give it a confident, summer release. So, it's easy to look at "Plane," a new mid-budget action/thriller starring Gerard Butler and dismiss it as typical January schlock. It brings me enormous joy to tell you that is not at all the case, as this is a '90s throwback that comes as a breath of fresh air, even if it's not the most original air you've ever tasted.

Everyone has bad work days. Sometimes there’s just too much to do and not enough time to do it all; sometimes your coworkers can drive you up a wall; sometimes you have to land a commercial airliner somewhere in the Philippines because a lightning strike has rendered your plane flightless.
That last example is the plight of Trailblazer Airlines pilot Brodie Torrance, Gerard Butler’s character in the new action-thriller “Plane,” directed by Jean-François Richet (“The Emperor of Paris”). When his flight 199 goes down over the Sulu Sea, the grizzled captain teams up with an unlikely ally — the extradited murderer sitting at the back of his plane — to help his passengers and crew navigate a treacherous island. What follows is a ho-hum fight for survival peppered with carnage and, occasionally, pathos.

January is the time for campy horror movies (see: “M3GAN”), extremely late-coming Oscar contenders (International Feature hopefuls “Saint Omer” and “Close”), and of course, ridiculous action thrillers, preferably starring Gerard Butler.
And Lionsgate is more than happy to provide us with the latter via “Plane,” Butler’s newest action movie. The studio released the final trailer for the film Wednesday, a week ahead of its theatrical release.
As its title suggests, the story of “Plane” begins on an airplane, piloted by Brodie Torrance (Butler), which is carrying Louis Gaspare (“Evil” star Mike Colter), a man being extradited on charges of homicide. After the plane gets heavily damaged by a freak storm, Brodie is forced to crash-land in Jolo, an island in the Philippines overrun by anti-government militias. The second trailer for Plane tosses in all the standard action film moments, with Gerard Butler and Mike Colter as the good guys and a group of rebels as the villains. And although it’s named Plane, most of the action appears to take place on the ground rather than in the air. (Maybe the sequel will be called Boat and take place on land?)
Joining Gerard Butler and Mike Colter in the R-rated action thriller are Yoson An, Daniella Pineda, Paul Ben-Victor, Remi Adeleke, Joey Slotnick, Evan Dane Taylor, Claro de los Reyes, and Tony Goldwyn.
Jean-François Richet directed from a screenplay by Charles Cumming and J.P. Davis (story by Cumming). Butler, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Alan Siegel produce.
Lionsgate Films is releasing Plane in theaters on January 13, 2023.

Look, it's not every day that I get to flex my background as an aviation major and actually make it relevant with my obsessive love for film. So, for better or worse, I'm about to take full advantage of the opportunity here and go completely off the deep end with one of the more amusing movies on the upcoming calendar.
I've been frantically gathering as much evidence as possible to support the hypothesis that we're in the early stages of an aerial renaissance of sorts. "Top Gun: Maverick" emphatically proved that audiences still feel the need for speed, flocking to theaters to experience those visceral thrills for themselves. In a quirk of timing, the World War II-set movie about flying aces, "Devotion," also came out last year -- even sharing similar DNA with the "Top Gun" sequel, in fact, thanks to the casting of Glen Powell in both movies. Tim Blake Nelson is ready to put his dukes up for Bang Bang, an upcoming boxing drama from director Vincent Grashaw. Tales of the Walking Dead wrapped up its first season Sunday with a trippy episode that focused on a young couple claiming a house as their own after its owner dies.

Season 1 of Tales of The Walking Dead has just concluded with six episodes that took a varied view of the zombie apocalypse.
The latest installment set within The Walking Dead universe was an anthology series that took a look at six different stories.
From the familiar, where fans learned more about Alpha (Samantha Morton) before she joined the Whisperers, right through to the bizarre, when a couple of work colleagues get stuck in a zombie apocalypse version of Groundhog Day.
And in between were plenty of other new characters that explored the outbreak. Some were prepared, others were not.
Some stories even bordered on ghost tales and whodunnits.
Now that the season is complete, viewers wonder if AMC will renew the TV show for another season.

For the season finale of the first “The Walking Dead” anthology series, “Tales of the Walking Dead” delivers an unexpected supernatural haunted house story set amidst the zombie apocalypse. Directed by Deborah Kampmeier (“Clarice”), “La Doña” follows a survivor couple – Eric (Danny Ramirez) and Idalia (Daniella Pineda) – as they make an eerie, candle-lit home their new place of sanctuary away from the undead. With the shambling corpses of the outside-world at bay, the duo must face off against a new set of horrors nestled within their humble abode.
“La Doña,” which translates to “The Lady,” makes use of cultural elements to set the scene for its chilling main location. Candles, crosses, Jesus statues, and other spiritual objects line every nook and cranny of the episode’s setting. Aside from Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), the world of “The Walking Dead” hasn’t explored many other cultural and religious reactions to the rising of the dead.

Episode six of AMC’s Tales of the Walking Dead, the final episode of season one, opens with a couple standing in the dark. They’re in the woods and eerie screams and creepy whispers can be heard as they take off running.
Daylight arrives and the woman, Idalia (Daniella Pineda), makes note that Maria (a zombie) is still following them. She thinks she knows where they are and may know of a place they can stay, but just for the night. Eric (Danny Ramirez) wonders why they’d only stay one night and Idalia explains the woman who lives there is kind of a healer. She’s into spells and other mystical stuff.
It’s dark by the time they arrive at a gate surrounded by tall walls.

From doomsday preppers to annoying bosses, and nature documentaries, the show has offered vastly different stories for fans of the original series to chomp down on.
Last week we even got a murder mystery. Now, we end Season 1 with a ghost story.
Eric (Danny Ramirez) and Idalia (Daniella Pineda) have been living it rough to survive the zombie apocalypse, but they have managed to reach a secure location.
There’s just one problem — the woman who lives there doesn’t like them and won’t let them stay.

At just six episodes long, Tales of the Walking Dead certainly seemed to hope that its first season would leave us wanting more. But did it? Before you weigh in in the polls below, let’s go over the thrills and chills in Sunday’s finale, “La Doña.”
As the episode began, young lovers Dali (The Originals alum Daniella Pineda) and Eric (Top Gun: Maverick’s Danny Ramirez) sought shelter from walkers and the cold in the fortress-like home of the titular bruja (Julie Carmen). Though she was willing to let them stay the night, she wasn’t looking for long-term roomies,...

[Warning: The following contains spoilers for Tales of The Walking Dead Season 1 Episode 6, “La Doña.”] Halloween came a little early on Tales of The Walking Dead, as this episode sees two survivors trapped in a haunted house. Idalia (Daniella Pineda) and Eric (Danny Ramirez) stumble upon La Doña’s home one night as they struggle to survive in the freezing woods. Idalia says they should go inside and see if La Doña will help them — apparently, according to one of their late friends, she was something of a figure of legend among those in the area. But La Doña appears to be very much alive, as a woman is there in the house who’s willing to give them food and shelter. But when Eric demands they be allowed to stay in her home for more than a night, his outburst causes her to choke and then hit her head on the corner of the table,...

Tales of the Walking Dead is saying the spookiest story for last.
It's hard to believe it, but the season finale airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC.
The final chapter is a haunting tale of an apocalypse-traumatized couple who may or may not be tormented by a haunted house.
There, they encounter frightening memories coupled with inexplicable phenomena in the house that take a toll on the couple's psyche and relationship.
TV Fanatic has already screened the episode, and you're in for a treat.
The episode is very different from the five that came before it, highlighting the series' plan to experiment with varying techniques of storytelling.
Danny Ramirez plays Eric, while Daniella Pineda takes on the role of Idalia, our focal characters for this final story.
Their relationship is tested in many ways, and AMC was kind enough to share the first look for fans of the series.

Episode 6 of Tales of The Walking Dead will be the final installment for Season 1, and it looks like the TV show will conclude with a ghost story.
Already, viewers have been introduced to a prepper and hippy duo, as well as a naturist who felt the undead should be looked after and nurtured in nature.
In addition to this, a Groundhog Day episode saw one duo having to relive the same day over and over again in order to get things right.
Tales of The Walking Dead also took a trip down memory lane while exploring more of Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) backstory.
Finally, the penultimate episode of Season 1 saw Davon (Jessie T. Usher) having to unravel a murder mystery in a creepy town.
So, let’s take a look...

The “Jurassic World” comes to some kind of conclusion in “Jurassic World Dominion,” the latest film in the “Jurassic Park” franchise and the second sequel in the semi-rebooted “Jurassic World” series of films.
The franchise’s first film, “Jurassic Park,” was released in 1993 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. A massive box office hit at the time, the film spawned a franchise that includes sequels “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997) and “Jurassic Park III” (2001) and the reboot/sequel “Jurassic World” (2015) and its follow-up “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (2018).
Director Colin Trevorrow returns to the director’s chair for “Dominion,” which completes the story he began with “Jurassic World.” Find out everything you need to know about where and how to watch “Jurassic World Dominion” below.
