Robbie Klaesi

A graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Robbie has
been involved in large-scale stadium events, theater, film & television
productions in Australia, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Canada and China
over the last 15 years. Recently, Robbie was the Producer of Digital
Media for the Opening Ceremony of Shanghai 2010 World Expo, and the
Ceremonies for both the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games & the Doha
2006 Asian Games.
Prior to specializing in digital media content creation for theatrical and live events, Robbie was appointed Technical Manager at the City of Sydney for the Sydney New Year's Eve Celebrations from 1999 - 2003. For Sydney's Millennium Celebrations, Robbie was responsible for the lighting design & execution of "Eternity", the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge effect, and went on to become Australia's youngest appointed Technical Director, executing the Closing Ceremony Harbor Spectacular as part of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. In 2003, Robbie took the lead role as Technical Director for the United Nations Independence Celebrations of East Timor, working directly with Ignatius Jones, Xanana Gusmao and Jose Ramos-Horta.
His theatrical credits on London's West End include close technical involvement with the creation of Andrew Lloyd Webber 's Woman in White, first staged in the Palace Theater London for the Really Useful Theater Group. Robbie spent over 3 years on the West End bringing his creative and technical expertise to the stage for several other well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber and Royal Shakespeare Company productions, All's well that ends well & Tell Me On A Sunday just to name a few, working with actors such as Michael Crawford & Dame Judy Dench.
Most recently, Robbie was nominated for a Green Room Award for his work as Creative Director in the design and execution of digital content for the newly re-staged musical, Hairspray, directed by David Atkins which opened in Melbourne Australia October 2nd 2010. The overwhelming success of the production has seen the move to the 2000 seat Lyric Theater in Sydney Australia which opens June 23 2011.
