Linda Hamilton will be making an appearance in the upcoming Stranger Things, which poetically takes place in the era when she catapulted to fame thanks to The Terminator. Her defining performance as Sarah Connor sealed her in pop culture as one of the best sci-fi characters of all time. However, even though she would make a return to the series with the sequel Terminator: Dark Fate, Hamilton has definitively stated that she is no longer interested in reprising her iconic character.
The Beauty and the Beast TV show star recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about her projects. It was inevitably asked if she would come back for another round with the cybernetic organism when they inquired what was more likely: an AI-written Terminator sequel or her reprising the role of Sarah Connor. Hamilton answered, “AI writing the next Terminator movie. And they kill me off before we start.

James McAvoy may have a murderous intent in the new trailer for Speak No Evil, a horror film based on 2022 Danish hit Gæsterne. James McAvoy leads the cast in the upcoming remake of the Danish psychological horror Speak No Evil, due for release later this year.
In cinemas, horror in 2024 has taken a little time to grind into gear. The first couple of the months didn’t offer too much for fans of the genre, with Imaginary and Night Swim failing to set the box office alight (even if the latter possessed a certain charm and had Stephen King happily cheerleading it).
Still, the last month saw a double dose of fun nun horror in the form of Immaculate and The First Omen and now it finally feels like we’re up and running, even if in the US, audience numbers for the usually reliable genre are said to be down. This year still has the likes of Abigail, Smile 2 and MaXXXine to come, not to mention the release of Speak No Evil in September.

Since Barbarian put the fear of weirdness into us all about AirBnBs, what are we to do for holiday ideas? Surely agreeing to stay with the seemingly charming couple you met while travelling is a good idea, right? If new horror movie Speak No Evil is to be believed… absolutely not. Check out the first trailer:
The Woman In Black's James Watkins is the writer/director here, with Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis (Halt And Catch Fire reunion klaxon!) as Americans Louise and Ben Dalton, holidaying with daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler). They meet Paddy (James McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) and their furtive, mute son Ant (Dan Hough) and seem to hit it off. Paddy invites them to stay at his and Ciara's house, and Louise and Ben eagerly accept. But after they arrive at the isolated, definitely not-creepy-at-all farmhouse, things soon turn a lot darker. What secrets is Paddy hiding?...

Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of F.W. Murnau’s silent classic Nosferatu is one of the more highly anticipated horror movies of the year, and the lucky folks at CinemaCon got a look at an exclusive first look at the chilling production.
The first look at Nosferatu was suitably terrifying with a heavy gothic tone. Classic-looking tall, dark castles, scurrying rats, blood gushing from necks, and full-on bleak horror. The footage included looks at Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol) and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things) but sadly only featured quick glimpses of Count Orlock himself. Perhaps that’s for the best, but I can’t wait to see Bill Skarsgard (Boy Kills World) disappear into the character.

"What is wrong with you?!" Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have revealed the first official trailer the unsettling horror remake Speak No Evil, a Hollywood take on the Danish horror film Speak No Evil from 2022. This takes the same disturbing plot and spins in a bit, though it does stick fairly closely to the other film. Two families meet while on holiday, and one invites the other to their country estate. After they arrive at an idyllic English country house, it morphs from a dream vacation into a psychological nightmare when Paddy takes over. This new Speak No Evil movie stars Mackenzie Davis & Scoot McNairy as American couple Louise & Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler), accept a weekend holiday invitation of Paddy (James McAvoy), and his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi), and their furtive, mute son Ant (newcomer Dan Hough). One of the most upsetting horror films of recent years is getting the Hollywood treatment, and the trailer is finally here. Christian Tafdrup's "Speak No Evil" debuted in 2022, with the Danish filmmaker zeroing in on our shared desire to avoid conflict and remain polite in social situations, revealing some discomfiting truths about our capacity for self-destruction in the process. The "Speak No Evil" remake from Blumhouse, then, will attempt to translate what was already a startling effective film for English audiences, with "Eden Lake" director James Watkins at the helm.
Just how the James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis-starring remake will manage to match the original is perhaps the biggest question here, mainly because the 2022 movie was already brilliant, but also because Tafdrup has spoken numerous times about how he was inspired by his own culture and thought "suppressing feelings and being dictated by social behavior was a very Scandinavian problem.

Kristen Stewart is opening up about filming Happiest Season, saying it was “fucking annoying” getting “so many” notes from studio executives about her style in the movie.
During a recent interview with Them magazine for her new film Love Lies Bleeding, the actress briefly looked back at filming the 2020 holiday rom-com, directed by Clea DuVall, that featured an LGBTQ love story.
“The identity was beaten out of my goals there,” she said of the film. “I was getting so many studio executive notes about my hair and my clothes. I was like, ‘You did read the script. You did hire me. What are we doing here?’ It was fucking annoying.”
Stewart continued. “And it’s fine, because I guess there are ways that you need to shroud things for everyone to easily digest. And I’m down with that. And honestly, fucking hats off to Clea, because I don’t have the patience [to do] that.

Jumper, Justin Anderson’s first short, opened on a naked man bathing in a pool. Conceived in 2014 for the tenth anniversary of British fashion designer Jonathan Saunders, the film was a riff on Pasolini’s Teorema; it followed a lunar stranger who shows up uninvited at a luscious Spanish villa and upends the frigid lives of its tenants. Ten years later, the same idea and shot survive more or less intact in Anderson’s feature debut, Swimming Home, based on a 2011 Man Booker-shortlisted novel by Deborah Levy. Except this time the setting is a summer home on an unidentified Greek island, the nude intruder a young woman, and her target is not a whole family but its taciturn, haunted patriarch.

There’s a luxuriantly sensuous quality to the prose of British novelist Deborah Levy — a tactile grasp of land, weather and flesh — that feels intensely cinematic while reading it, as well as an elliptical, concentrated interior psychology that feels liable to trip up any potential adapters. Those rewards and risks hold true in “Swimming Home,” a seductive but opaque adaptation of Levy’s Man Booker-shortlisted novel of the same name, in which the author’s knack for epigrammatic character portraiture and hothouse emotional conflict yields more superficially enigmatic results on screen. In his feature directing debut, British video artist Justin Anderson carries over a chicly serrated, off-kilter audiovisual sense from his commercials and short-form work; his scripting is less assured, as is his command of a fine but under-tested ensemble led by Christopher Abbott, Mackenzie Davis and Ariane Labed.

Rotterdam film festival: A self-conscious adaptation of Deborah Levy’s novel makes glib reference to the Bosnian war while it focuses on unsexy erotic tension at a luxury villa
Lugubrious, laborious and ridiculous – this movie version of Deborah Levy’s celebrated novel Swimming Home is frankly uncomfortable in the most wrong way possible. Film-maker and artist Justin Anderson has established himself as a creative visual talent but for this feature debut he has somehow conjured awful, torpid performances from his excellent cast, perpetually crowding up to them with pedantic, over-determined closeups. His film insists on a bafflingly unsexy and uninteresting type of erotic tension and conflates the result with a supposed repressed agony from the Bosnian war – which is invoked in the most glib and perfunctory way.

Marriage Story: Justin Anderson Serves Up An Enigmatic Challenge Is His Feature Debut
A marriage in crisis cooks under the summer sun in filmmaker Justin Anderson’s enervating feature debut Swimming Home. Stripping away the narrative thrust and many of the characters in his adaptation of Deborah Levy’s excellent acclaimed novella, the director attempts to grapple more directly with the enigmas at its haunted core. But saddled with deliberately alienating and obfuscating symbolism, the resulting effort is a tedious, overly earnest po-faced slow burn.
Vacationing in a luxe villa in the Greek countryside, Joseph (Christopher Abbott), his wife Isabel (Mackenzie Davis), and their teenage daughter Nina (Freya Hannan-Mills) have barely had time to welcome the arrival of family friend Laura (Nadine Labaki) when the mysterious Kitti (Ariane Labed) is found pleasantly floating naked in their swimming pool.…...

Award-winning artist Justin Anderson’s debut feature “Swimming Home” has its world premiere in competition at International Film Festival Rotterdam. Variety has secured access to the first clip from the film.
The film, an adaptation of Deborah Levy’s 2012 Man Booker Prize shortlisted novel, centers on poet Joe (Christopher Abbott) and war photographer Isabel (Mackenzie Davis), whose marriage is dying when Kitti (Ariane Labed), a naked stranger found floating in the pool at their sunny holiday villa in Greece, is invited to stay. Oscar nominated Lebanese actor-director Nadine Labaki plays a significant role in the film as does emerging actor Freya Hannan-Mills.
In 2014, Anderson directed “Jumper,” a short inspired by Pasolini’s “Teorema,” about a man emerging from a pool and standing naked in the window during a family dinner. A friend saw the film and suggested that he read Levy’s novel. The book resonated with Anderson and he contacted Levy.

James McAvoy has reteamed with his Split and Glass producers at Blumhouse for a psychological thriller called Speak No Evil, which Universal Pictures will be giving a theatrical release later this year. More tweaking to this year’s film schedule continues with Blumhouse/Universal’s James McAvoy thriller, Speak No Evil, going from Aug. 9 to Sept. 13, where an untitled Blumhouse movie already has dibs.
Speak No Evil, which we are hearing very hot things about, moves away from Liongate’s feature take of videogame, Borderlands, and MGM’s Flint Strong to a new date where it’s up against Paramount/Hasbro’s animated Transformers One and an untitled Angel Studios movie.
Speak No Evil is a feature adaptation of acclaimed Danish horror title Gæsterne (Speak No Evil), about a family invited for a weekend at an idyllic country house—a dream holiday that warps into a snarled psychological nightmare. James Watkins, the fimmaker of Woman in Black, is the writer and director here based on the screenplay of Gæsterne by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. That movie was released in 2022, and earned 11 Danish Film Awards nominations,...
