The moment Amigo the Devil realized his life was entering its next phase came when his 1979 Ford E-150 van burst into flames and burned to the ground last December in a Nashville parking lot.
“This was only two and half weeks after I bought it,” the singer-songwriter, also known as Danny Kiranos, tells Rolling Stone. “I get in, start it, it catches on fire — the whole thing blows up.”
Kiranos shakes his head and chuckles in hindsight. At the time, the destruction of the vehicle was traumatizing and surreal. Now...

Amigo the Devil is prepping for the release of his new album, Yours Until the War Is Over, arriving February 23rd. In advance of the LP, the dark-folk troubadour has unveiled a new song, albeit in an unconventional manner.
Following the official release of the singles “Cannibal Within” and “The Mechanic,” the singer-guitarist also known as Danny Kiranos has leaked another new tune, “Once Upon a Time at Texaco (Pt. 1).” Although it was posted unlisted on YouTube a few days ago, many fans discovered the new track via a voicemail at the phone number (458) 867-1239.
That phone number came from a wild and wacky late-night TV commercial promoting “The Mechanic” that Amigo hoped to get aired on MTV and Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block. Unfortunately, the ad got resoundingly rejected for being “too violent.”
“We made a commercial for our little mechanic shop and it was clearly too hot for TV,...

Amigo the Devil has announced his third studio album, Yours Until the War Is Over, arriving February 23rd. The lead single “Cannibal Within” can be heard now.
As Amigo the Devil, singer-songwriter Danny Kiranos has garnered a significant following with his disarming, lyrically uncompromising brand of dark folk. “Cannibal Within” fits that description with its sparse banjo, haunted clink-clank percussion, and gripping poeticism: “All the parts we hate start adding up/ Until we find ourselves with more regret than blood.”
“There’s a tiny little cannibal inside of us all and it feeds on our insecurities,” commented Kiranos in a press release. “The more it feeds on doubt, jealousy and self devaluation, the bigger it grows until it becomes bigger than we ourselves are. And then we’re left with nothing. We lose the war.”

Last month, Danny Kiranos had enough of being stuck at home. The lack of movement during the pandemic over the last year was weighing on the singer-songwriter, who performs under the moniker Amigo the Devil.
“I got cabin fever so I packed a bag, put some stuff in the car and I’ve literally been driving,” Kiranos says. “I started going north, I didn’t have much of a plan.”
He headed out from his home base in Austin, Texas, drove through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, making a pit stop at Yellowstone along the way.
