The Young Turks (Tyt) is unveiling tonight the latest original set to air on its just-launched Twitch channel.
The progressive digital news network is premiering Common Room -- a non-political interview series that will live exclusively on Twitch. Common Room will feature Tyt hosts and friends having a conversation over drinks in what Tyt is billing as a digital campfire of sorts. Each episode will break down the week’s top news stories in realms like movies, music, gaming, and relationships.
Rotating hosts will include Tyt staples like Ana Kasparian, Jayar Jackson, John Iadarola, Brett Erlich, and Rick Strom. New episodes will arrive on Twitch on Mondays at 10 pm Et. Eventually, Tyt plans to offer 12 hours of exclusive content on Twitch every month. Common Room joins another Twitch-exclusive, Between Me And Uygur, in which Tyt co-founder Cenk Uygur and a guest will discuss life in quarantine.

Progressive news network The Young Turks (Tyt) is launching a Twitch channel.
The network, founded by host Cenk Uygur, already boasts a massive presence on YouTube (4.7 million subscribers) and Facebook (3.2 million followers) is foraying onto Twitch -- just as livestreaming is at an all-time high amid quarantine. The move means that Tyt’s eponymous news broadcast with Uygur and Ana Kasparian will be accessible to Twitch viewers, as will John Iadarola’s The Damage Report, and 12 hours of exclusive content each week. Additional shows will be unveiled in coming weeks.
“Tyt is a giant within independent media, and we pride ourselves as a digital campfire because of our lean-in audience,” Uygur said in a statement. “The launch on Twitch is an exciting opportunity to reach an interactive community of 17.5 million average daily visitors."

Digital progressive news network The Young Turks (Tyt) has launched a 24-hour linear channel on Comcast’s Xfinity X1, a set-top box and software platform that enables users to access a variety of streaming content.
This isn’t the first time that Tyt, which rose to renown on YouTube, has launched 24/7 programming. Earlier this year, the company launched comparable ventures on Ott service Xumo TV and the Viacom-owned, ad-supported Pluto TV. And prior to that, Tyt rolled out linear channels on YouTube TV, The Roku Channel, and Samsung TV+ devices. Across all platforms (not only TVs), Tyt says that its content generates 200 million monthly views.
Notable Tyt programming includes its flagship The Young Turks news broadcast, hosted by co-founder Cenk Uygur, as well as John Iadarola’s The Damage Report. The network has also interviewed 2020 Presidential candidates Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, as well as Andrew Yang.

Conservative firebrand and Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren on Thursday apologized for a comment about Sen. Kamala Harris’ personal life that she live-tweeted during Wednesday’s Democratic primary debate.
Instead of sticking to the debate like many media personalities, Lahren asked Harris a very personal question: “Kamala did you fight for ideals or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown??”
After widespread criticism for stepping over the line, Lahren backtracked by saying, “I apologize for my comment on Kamala’s personal relationship. It was the wrong choice of words. There are many other things to take her to task for and I will stick to those.”

As previously reported, The Young Turks (Tyt) and Tastemade have today launched 24-hour linear channels on YouTube TV -- the video giant’s $40 monthly live television service. The two digital media powerhouses join business publisher Cheddar, which was the first digital-native network to be added to YouTube TV in April.
As part of the launch, progressive digital news network Tyt will debut four new shows -- its largest concurrent programming addition to date. The lineup includes: John Iadarola’s daily morning series The Damage Report; an analysis and commentary series hosted by Ana Kasparian called #NoFilter; Happy Half Hour, which is focused on positive news stories; and Old School Sports, which will revisit classic games and rivalries.

To truly understand the impact climate change is having on our planet, it helps to take a trip to the True North. That's the philosophy espoused by progressive-leaning news organization The Young Turks, which has produced a new docu-series that has launched on Go90.
True North follows an Arctic expedition co-led by John Iadarola, who co-hosts The Young Turks' ThinkTank channel, and Chavala Madlena, an investigative journalist who has appeared on The Young Turks' news show in the past. Together, Iadarola and Madlena take a trip to the frigid polar region in order to take in the natural splendor around them, connect with some of the local natives, and examine the ways in which climate change has impacted our northernmost climate.
A preview of their journey can be seen in a trailer for True North. The trailer premiered last month.

Two journalists will venture through the Arctic to explore the science behind climate change for a new digital series from The Young Turks (Tyt Network).
Titled True North, the docuseries will star ThinkTank creator John Iadarola and investigative reporter and filmmaker Chavala Madlena -- who has worked with The Guardian and BBC. Over the course of 16 episodes, Iadarola and Madlena will explore the impact that climate change has had on the land and people of the Arctic, visiting an abandoned town, learning how to dogsled, hiking on glaciers, and more. True North will bow on Verizon’s go90 video platform on April 19, just ahead of Earth Day, while additional clips will also roll out weekly to Verizon-owned HuffPost.

Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will shut down two presidential councils after several business leaders resigned from their positions with the administration following Trump’s lackluster response to the deadly Charlottesville, Virginia, rally.
“Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both. Thank you all!” the 71-year-old president tweeted.
Trump’s announcement comes one day after news broke that members of the Strategic and Policy Forum decided to disband the group, Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

True North, which will consist of 16 11-minute episodes, will be led by John Iadarola, who co-hosts The Young Turks' ThinkTank channel. Alongside a retinue of scientists, cartographers, and other associates, Iadarola will report from remote Arctic locates in order to ascertain how climate change is affecting local populations and ecosystems.

No one could have predicted that the big story coming out of the first day of the Republican National Convention would revolve around speech plagiarism.
Earlier on Monday, the top news coming out of Cleveland was the group of anti-Donald Trump delegates attempting to force a roll call vote. When that was denied, the Colorado delegation left the arena floor.

But then came Melania Trump’s primetime speech. Blatantly obvious similarities between her speech and one Michelle Obama gave at the 2008 Democratic convention quickly became the top story coming out of the Rnc as Monday turned into Tuesday. (Yes, that means Scott Baio’s and Antonio Sabato Jr.’s quick speeches became quick afterthoughts.)

As the year’s election coverage continues to accelerate, The Young Turks has served as one of the Internet’s preeminent progressive voices. Now, the news network will bring its message back to TV as well. Tyt has joined forces with Fusion for a weekly show that will launch on September 5th ahead of this November’s presidential vote.
Tyt’s new TV show, which is currently titled, will be co-hosted by Ana Kasparian and John Iadarola. In each hour-long episode, Kasparian and Iadarola will engage with college students about the issues they find most relevant. Along the way, the two hosts will receive help from their colleagues, including Tyt founder Cenk Ugyur, who hosts the network’s main digital program alongside Kasparian, and Hannah Cranston, who hosts Tyt’s ThinkTank channel with Iadarola.
While Tyt’s digital programming has emerged as its centerpiece, the network has a long history with TV.

Our YouTube Millionaires column tracks channels that have surpassed YouTube's most significant milestone, but by the time some channels reach the million-subscriber plateau, they have changed dramatically from their initial concept. A great example is ThinkTank, which began in 2011 as Tyt University, a college-themed spin-off of The Young Turks (Tyt). In 2015, co-hosts John Iadarola and Hannah Cranston led a re-brand of the channel, molding it into a more general hub called ThinkTank. The pivot was a success, and now that ThinkTank is over one million subscribers, we sat down with Iadarola to talk about the process through which Tyt University morphed into something bigger.
