Drawing on breath-taking archive and interviews shot with astronauts, cosmonauts, family members and colleagues, the film revels in the remarkable achievement of technology, international collaboration, scientific endeavour and human bravery that the Iss has encapsulated during its time in space, and provides an insight into the beauty and majesty of witnessing earth from above. The nation’s TV-news outlets have spent countless hours covering the coronavirus pandemic. On late Wednesday afternoon, for at least a little while, they will focus on something entirely different.
CBS News, NBC News and ABC News are preparing to break into regularly scheduled programming a few minutes before 4:30 p.m. eastern Wednesday in a bid to chronicle the launch of a joint mission between Nasa and entrepreneur Elon Musk’s SpaceX that will represent the first time American astronauts will take off from U.S. soil since 2011. Both Fox News Channel and MSNBC are planning to break away from regular programming at that time in order to bring viewers coverage of the spectacle. Fox News will offer Fox Broadcasting affiliates special coverage of the event at 4:25 p.m. with anchor Leland Vittert.
Some news divisions are using the launch to highlight emerging business ventures and new means of distribution.

Nasa astronaut Chris Hadfield has been to space three times, has participated in two space walks, and has served as the commander of the International Space Station. Hadfield joined Vanity Fair this week to review space films such as Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar,” James Gray’s “Ad Astra,” and Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey,” but no movie is the object of the astronaut’s scorn as much as Alfonso Cuarón’s “Gravity.” Hadfield admits Cuarón’s 2013 Oscar winner boasts great visual effects and a magnificent depiction of a space walk in its opening scene, but that’s about it when it comes to praise. Much of “Gravity” is “so far from reality that I want to turn my head,” Hadfield says in the video below.
Hadfield’s first major criticism is how extremely “Gravity” violates the laws of physics. Take the scene where a satellite crashes into the International Space Station.

United Talent Agency has signed Cindy McCain in all areas, the agency announced Thursday.
McCain’s daughter, The View panelist Meghan McCain is another prominent client.
Cindy McCain, widow of the late Sen. John McCain, is an advocate of early childhood education and activist in the fight against human trafficking, UTA said in today’s announcement. McCain, meanwhile, said she is “thrilled to work with UTA to leverage my charitable passions” and carry on her husband’s legacy, hoping to reach new audiences.
McCain was in the news last month after President Trump renewed his attacks on her husband, complaining he gave the late Arizona Gop senator the kind of funeral he had wanted, but never got thanks for it. That was factually inaccurate in that it is not up to Potus if a deceased senator lies in state in the Capitol, and not up to Potus what funerals are held at National Cathedral,...

Exclusive: Peggy Whitson, the astronaut who retired from Nasa last month as the U.S. record-holder for the most cumulative time in space at 655 days, has signed with UTA to help set the orbit for the next phase of her career.
Among her numerous records, Whitson, a biochemist, twice commanded the International Space Station after becoming the Iss’ first science officer; she has contributed to hundreds of experiments that have had impacts on the fields of medicine, artificial intelligence, agriculture, engineering and more. She also holds marks for the most spacewalks by a female (10). Her last Iss mission, which set the cumulative record, ran from November 2016-September 2017.
That’s plenty of fodder for a memoir, which is in the works. UTA will help shepherd that project as well as her public speaking opportunities, along with other projects across TV and film.
She’s already had some practice with on-air hosting:
#Fitness is critical in space!
