Following a tragic incident in New York City on Tuesday that left eight people dead and 11 injured in what police are calling a terrorist attack, thousands of people lined the streets of Greenwich Village for the 44th Annual Village Halloween Parade.

Late this summer, a doorway to Guillermo del Toro's imagination will be opened when a new exhibit, "At Home with Monsters", debuts at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Lacma). To celebrate the new showcase of what inspires the filmmaker, Insight Editions will release Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters: Inside His Films, Notebooks, and Collections, a new art book featuring photos of the exhibit, pages from del Toro's journals, and insightful interviews from art experts.

Being a fan of black animation like... all my life, I find this new exhibit exciting! In Harlem, New York, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has an exhibit that looks at the appearance of black characters on Saturday morning cartoons in the 70s, through drawing and production cells. As NY1's Roger Clark reports, "Strong, positive black characters like Lt. Uhura from "Star Trek", Peter Jones from "The Hardy Boys" and Verb from "Schoolhouse Rock" became cartoon favorites along with animated real life entertainers and athletes like The Jackson Five, Muhamed Ali and The Harlem Globetrotters."
