"Salvation comes in the blink of an eye." Lightfold, a new animation studio based in Atlanta, has unveiled the first official trailer for their debut short called Godspeed. This is the latest creation from the animation filmmaker behind the popular Final Space sci-fi series, and it involves yet another space adventure sci-fi story. Godspeed follows a young woman named Iris, voiced by Bryce Charles, and her adorable karaoke-bot sidekick named Bowie as they navigate the desolate landscape of their crumbling world (sounds lot like Earth once climate change ravages everything). She must survive a planet-ending storm in hopes of finding a message that will help her escape this place. The voice cast also features Troy Baker (The Last of Us), Claudia Black, Coty Galloway & Olan Rogers (both from Final Space), and a few surprises. As most readers know, we're big fans of any and everything sci-fi, which is why we're posting this trailer.

I’m not gonna lie, being a TV fan is hard right now. Not only do we have to worry about the shows we love getting canceled before the story is complete, but now we also have to worry about shows being canceled at random stages of production, or worse getting erased from their streaming platforms entirely. HBO Max has been the worst at erasing its own shows from existence with around eighty total original titles taken off of the streamer last year as Warner Bros. Discovery plans to merge the service with Discovery+. But we can’t even call HBO Max’s great erasure a one-off moment, because now that Showtime and Paramount+ are merging into one streaming service, there are several Showtime originals that have been canceled with plans to erase them from the platform entirely.

The cosmos is vast and unpredictable, so it’s no surprise that “Final Space” has been able to find a steady stream of humans, aliens, robots, and all-powerful metaphysical behemoths to fill out its roster. Plenty of them have multiplied, some have taken different forms. Regardless of how they’ve manifested, they all contribute to the idea that this series slides comfortably right alongside plenty of its other peers in the animated sci-fi subgenre. Now entering Season 3, “Final Space” has managed to sharpen all of its component parts on both logistical and emotional levels. And there’s plenty of room for it to keep going.
The season’s opening sequence plays out like a bonus ending to where the show left off, with human adventurers Gary (voiced by series creator Olan Rogers) and Quinn (Tika Sumpter) fully reunited, but still stranded in the Negative Zone-esque reaches of space. The details...

This year’s virtual Comic-Con@Home has announced its schedule for Friday, July 24. The highlights are below.
The virtual event replaces the annual San Diego Comic-Con, the largest fan convention in North America, which was to be held July 22–26 at the San Diego Convention Center, until the Covid-19 pandemic forced its cancellation.
In June, Comic-Con International — the non-profit organization that oversees Sdcc and its sister event, WonderCon in Anaheim, Calif. — announced it was moving forward with the virtual event on the same dates. This time, however, the event is free and open to all.
Friday’s events include panels for all three of AMC’s “Walking Dead” series, Hulu’s new Marvel series “Helstrom,” and creatives like Charlize Theron, Joss Whedon, and Robert Kirkman.
The Comic-Con@Home schedule — including Wednesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 23 — is being announced daily through Sunday.

According to Variety, which first reported on the new project, the pilot will join an augmented reality (Ar) app that has already been launched as a Final Space tie-in. The Vr spinoff will be an appeal to Rogers' audience, who subscribe to him on platforms like YouTube. “His brand is built on the internet,” Engelman told Variety, speaking with regard to Rogers. “This is absolutely the kind of property to experiment with.”

Will Final Space be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. Final Space is the latest TV series created by a YouTube star, and it's off to a promising start. The animated sci-fi show, which comes from the mind of Olan Rogers, premiered to mixed reviews and positive ratings on TBS on February 22.
Born out of one of New Form's incubator series, Final Space embarked on its journey to TBS after Rogers inked a deal with Conan O'Brien. The show follows a dopey astronaut named Gary as he goes on adventures with a super-powered space creature called Mooncake. The first episode premiered on Reddit on February 11, after which it received its first review: a pan from Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter. "It's hard to ask people in the Peak TV era to stick with an animated comedy that's not exactly working on any level," Goodman wrote.

At some point, within minutes after the last episode of “Final Space” airs on TBS, some enterprising YouTuber will take every Mooncake moment from Season 1 and edit them all into one supercut (and then minutes after that, someone else will make a ten-hour long version because that’s how the internet works now). That endless loop of the tiny squishy alien’s little anxious squeals and joyful reassurances will be a true and pure gift. Mooncake is here to become both a beloved green savior and the TV world’s new best friend. Prepare yourselves accordingly.
Good thing there’s still a pretty wonderful show happening in between each “Chookity.” For starters, “Final Space” — based off the previous web work of creator and animator Olan Rogers — has a human protagonist named Gary. YouTube Star Olan Rogers’ Series ‘Final Space’ To Premiere On Reddit 11 Days Before It Arrives On TV
When it was still just a wee pilot, Olan Rogers' Final Space received a lot of free promotion thanks to Reddit. Nearly two years later, Final Space is set to premiere as a full-fledged animated TV series, but before it does, it's making another trip to the so-called "front page of the internet." The first episode of Final Space is coming to Reddit on February 15, eleven days before it makes its TV premiere on TBS.
Final Space follows the adventures of a spaceman named Gary, who joins forces with an adorable, omnipotent green creature named Mooncake. The show's pilot, shared in April 2016 by Rogers and New Form, was a hit on the /r/videos subreddit, where it received more than 3,300 upvotes. The top comment on the corresponding post was simple: "I'd watch that," said Reddit user TornMeAsunder.
Good news, TornMeAsunder. Now you can watch it, and you don't even have to leave Reddit.

The emergence of festivals as a launching pad for television is relatively new, but Scad aTVfest, an annual celebration of the small screen, has its place as an early pioneer. The students of Scad, the art and design university founded in Savannah, Georgia, are helping shape a festival that draws its success not from just its featured programming, but from the people who actually attend the festival.
Founded six years ago, the three-day event has become a launching pad for acclaimed series like Fox’s “Empire” and ABC’s “American Crime.” This year brought the creators of shows like “The Chi,” “Mozart in the Jungle,” “Black Lightning,” and more to Atlanta.
As opposed to Sundance, where this year’s Indie Episodics lineup was focused on shows available for acquisition, the ATVfest lineup is largely dedicated to series that already have an established network home.

Yes, the TV season kicks back in full swing following the winter hiatus that often seeps into the first half of January – which means what, exactly? How about a few high-profile premieres (including welcome regular gigs for small-screen favorites Glenn Howerton, Christina Hendricks and Parks and Rec alumna Retta)? Or the self-proclaimed "Cocoa Khaleesis" of 2 Dope Queens breaking out on their HBO? Here's what you'll be tuning in to,...

Like many before him, a YouTube star is attempting the jump to TV, and he is doing so with the effusive support of big name in late-night programming. Olan Rogers and Conan O'Brien appeared together at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour in order to promote Rogers' series Final Space, which will premiere on TBS on February 26.
Final Space is an animated series that follows the adventures of a human prisoner who befriends a super-powerful space creature. Together with other companions, they head out on adventures across the universe, some of which are teased in a Final Space trailer that arrived on January 11.
Though TV projects led by YouTube stars often struggle to attract audiences, Rogers believes Final Space will be able to succeed because he works well with others. Other YouTubers "can’t get away from the ‘You,'” he said. “They have a hard time collaborating."

In April 2016, as part of New Form's third batch of pilots, the production company teamed up with Olan Rogers for an animated project called Final Space, which ultimately landed a development deal from TBS.
Now, the partnership that yielded that success story is back in business. Rogers, whose channel has close to one million subscribers, has released The Lion's Blaze, another animated pilot created alongside New Form.
The Lion's Blaze follows a group of friends who have been stuck inside a video game for 15 years. In the pilot (spoiler alert!), one member of the group dies, and his companions vow to collect the remaining pieces of the titular plot device in order to win the day.
Rogers' work would not be out of place on Adult Swim, and a press release invoked that network's most beloved show, Rick & Morty, in its attempt to sell The Lion's Blaze to fans of adult animation.

New Form, the studio known for working on long-form projects led by online video stars, is shifting its focus somewhat. As first shared by The Hollywood Reporter, New Form will focus on producing programs to sell to other platforms at the expense of the content it releases on its personal social channels. As a result, the company has laid off several of its employees.
Much of New Form’s work has been spread across “incubator” series, which consist of several pilots released at once on YouTube. From those batches, New Form sells individual projects to distributors like YouTube Red, Go90, and Vimeo. The studio also recently picked up its first TV deal when it sold Olan Rogers’ Final Space to TBS.

For those of you bummed by the lack of Academy love for Saving Mr. Banks or bummed that Tom Hanks’ portrayal of Walt Disney in that film comprised such a small part of the running time, you may like this following bit of news. I love fan films. Even the bad ones are so earnest I can applaud the effort if not the execution. I’ve been listening to The Protomen a lot lately, which means this fan film caught me in just the right frame of mind.
Created by Olan Rogers, the fan film isn’t perfect, but really cool nonetheless; as a project that cost less than a thousand dollars to make, it beats some of the stuff that makes it to network television.
