“Project Runway All Stars” concludes its sixth season on Thursday, April 5, with a battle between the three final designers: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But are those the best three designers from the whole season? We asked our readers which of the 13 eliminated contestants they would bring back, and more than half of them were split between just two names: Ken Laurence and Amanda Valentine. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.
Laurence led our poll with 26% of respondents saying he deserves to return to the competition, which is impressive considering that he only just left. He was eliminated in fourth place in the penultimate episode of the season, “History in the Making,” in which he had to design a six-piece collection, then show the judges one signature look, and then compete in a surprise one-hour design challenge, but after jumping through...

For the first time in “Project Runway” history — including both “All Stars” and the original series — the final five designers are all men: Edmond Newton, Fabio Costa, Anthony Williams, Stanley Hudson and Ken Laurence. That was a statistically improbable outcome given that women outnumbered men nine-to-seven at the start of the season. The only men eliminated were Carlos Casanova and Joshua McKinley. So we asked our readers what they thought of the lopsided victory for the male designers. Did the judges get it right, or did the women deserve better? Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Our respondents actually thought the judges did a good job picking the final five. A slight majority (53%) said the remaining designers really are the best of the best. That’s a little surprising given how passionately our readers have disagreed with some eliminations, including Amanda Valentine and Helen Castillo.

“Project Runway All Stars” eliminated Helen Castillo in Thursday night’s episode, “Rock Your Face Off.” That leaves five designers in the competition: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. All five of them are men, which is not only unusual but historic. This is the first time one gender has swept the top five in the history of “Runway” — not just the 6 seasons of “All Stars,” but also the 16 seasons of the original series.
It’s all the more surprising in this season of “All Stars” because the women actually started out with the numbers advantage. There were an even 16 contestants at the start of the competition, but 9 were women while only 7 were men. However, over the course of the last 10 episodes all 9 women were eliminated compared to only 2 men who suffered the same fate. Carlos Casanova was booted in the season premiere, and then...

Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” is nearing the home stretch. The series entered episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” with its final six designers: Helen Castillo, Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. So who rocked on to the top five, and who had to face the music? Scroll down for our live blog with minute-by-minute updates of all the episode’s developments.
“Rock Your Face Off” challenged the designers to create performance looks fit for a music superstar. So where “Posen on the Red Carpet” last week demanded Oscar-caliber chic, this challenge required edgy Grammy glam. It’s too bad Lady Gaga wasn’t present as a guest judge given her history of wearing famously provocative dresses made of meat and Kermit the Frog dolls — though in that case she might be a better fit for an unconventional materials challenge. Instead the designers were...

Joshua McKinley was eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in “Posen on the Red Carpet,” and it proved to be one of the rare instances this season when the judges and our readers were on the same page. We asked “Runway” fans who really deserved to be sent home, and 60% of them said the judges made the right call by dismissing McKinley. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
McKinley flew under the radar this season until “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” which was the first challenge where he received any critique from the judges at all — and he won. Though many of our readers thought his provocative design was a curious choice for the victory. The very next week, in “A Kick in the Astro,” he got his very first low score of the season, and he responded defensively to the judges’ criticisms. But he was spared,...

As of this writing “Project Runway All Stars” season 6 is down to its top 6 designers, whittled down from 16 after nine episodes of challenges where the panel of judges have knocked out the unsuccessful fashion hopefuls one by one. But what do you think of the judges themselves? Scroll down to vote in our poll.
Actress Alyssa Milano has hosted the show since season three in addition to serving as a judge. She evaluates the designs every week alongside famous fashion designers Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman, who have been with “All Stars” from the very beginning. But despite their professional expertise our readers have objected to many of the decisions they have made on the way to the top six.

They say pride comes before a fall. That may have been what happened to designer Joshua McKinley on “Project Runway All Stars” in the ninth challenge of the season, “Posen on the Red Carpet.” Always outspoken and self-assured, McKinley’s ambition got the better of him when he chose a difficult method for his design, and he was eliminated. Do you think the judges were right to send him home? Scroll down and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The remaining seven designers were tasked with creating a red-carpet look that showcased their signature design technique using fabrics selected from guest judge Zac Posen‘s private studio. McKinley chose pintucking as his signature technique. He thought the difficulty of that approach would impress the judges, and he couldn’t resist throwing a little shade at his competitors in the process: “I’m going to try to...

We’re just a few days removed from the 2018 Academy Awards, but we can’t seem to escape the red carpet. In episode nine of “Project Runway All Stars” the top seven designers were “Posen for the Red Carpet.” To be specific, they were invited into the private studio of fashion designer Zac Posen, where they gathered materials to create glamorous red carpet looks showcasing their signature technique. Posen was also a guest judge, along with actress Rosie Perez, so this was the second challenge in a row, following “Mizrahi Madness” last week, when the designers were both inspired by and judged by a fashion icon. So how did they do?
Stanley Hudson won the last design challenge, so he got his first choice of fabrics from Posen’s luxurious collection. His plan was to showcase his tailoring with a red gown highlighted by a dramatic, voluminous skirt. Anthony Williams...

Edmond Newton has struggled in recent weeks on “Project Runway All Stars,” and now he may be at risk of elimination. At least, that’s what our readers think. Every week we poll “Runway” fans for their predictions, and based on their collective forecasts Newton gets leading odds of 11/8, which translates to a 41.97% chance of being sent home. Do you agree?
Newton got off to a great start, earning a high score from the judges in the season premiere for his autumn-inspired design. Then he advanced safely through the next three weeks of the competition without a positive or negative critique from the judges. However, his next four challenges took a turn for the worse. He landed in the bottom three in three out of those four episodes: “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” and most recently “Mizrahi Madness.” And he hasn’t gotten a...

Early on in season six of “Project Runway All Stars” it looked like Stanley Hudson might be in trouble. In just the second challenge of the season, “Damsels in Distress,” he barely escaped elimination after landing in the judges’ bottom-two. But since then his designs have taken off. In episode eight, “Mizrahi Madness,” he won the challenge to design a colorful party look inspired by judge Isaac Mizrahi‘s work. That was his third victory, which is more than any other contestant this season so far. Is he the new front-runner to win?
Not according to our predictions. We poll “Project Runway” fans every week to let us know who they think will win the competition, who will be eliminated and more. Based on their combined forecasts Hudson has moved up significantly over the weeks, but so far only into third place where he gets 6/1 odds to win the entire competition.

After starting with 16 contestants, season 6 of “Project Runway All Stars” was down to 8 going into episode 8, “Mizrahi Madness.” So the stakes were twice as high, and the designers needed to work twice as hard to win the judges’ approval. Who won the design challenge, who was eliminated, and who do you think will win the season when all is said and done? Scroll down for our live, minute-by-minute report of episode eight as it happens.
Isaac Mizrahi is a judge on “All Stars,” but in “Madness” he was also the contestants’ inspiration. The designers had to create colorful party looks inspired by a Mizrahi exhibit, so they not only had to win his approval, they had to try to live up to his work. And joining the panel to evaluate those party designs was another legend of the fashion industry, 86-year-old supermodel Carmen Dell’Orefice.

Is Ken Laurence in trouble on “Project Runway All Stars” season six? That’s what our users think. Every week we poll “Runway” fans to predict who will win the competition, who will be sent home, and more. And based on their combined forecasts Laurence is in trouble. As of this writing he gets leading odds of 7/4, which translates to a 36.06% chance of being eliminated. But could he really be on the chopping block after weeks of successful designs? Just ask Kimberly Goldson.
Goldson was eliminated in the avant garde challenge “A Kick in the Astro” even though she had never gotten a low score from the judges before then. Similarly, Laurence has demonstrated consistent design skill. Anthony Williams is starting to look unstoppable in season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” Based on the combined predictions of the “Runway” fans we poll every week, Williams gets leading odds of 21/20 to win the season. And since consistency is key in this design competition, it gives Williams a crucial leg up that he’s the last contestant remaining who hasn’t received a single low score from the judges.
Going into the most recent episode, “A Kick in the Astro,” Williams hadn’t designed a single look that put him in the judges’ bottom three, and neither had his rivals Joshua McKinley, Fabio Costa or Kimberly Goldson. But that avant garde challenge changed that completely. Goldson was eliminated, while McKinley and Costa joined her among the judges’ least favorite looks. The judges made another controversial call on “Project Runway All Stars.” Episode seven, “A Kick in the Astro,” was an avant garde challenge in which the designers had to unleash their wildest artistic impulses inspired by the cosmos. Kimberly Goldson struggled to come up with ideas as avant garde fashion was outside of her comfort zone. And according to the judges Joshua McKinley struggled with too many ideas. It came down to the two of them for elimination. The judges picked Goldson to go home, but our readers would have picked McKinley. Another one bites the dust — and by that I mean, yet another woman is eliminated on “Project Runway All Stars,” the seventh in a row out of eight eliminations thus far. Kimberly Goldson was eliminated from the show in episode seven, “A Kick in the Astro,” even though it was the first time she had even gotten a low score from the judges. She actually got high scores in “Perfect Pairings” and “Balls Out.” So did she really deserve to be sent home in this avant garde challenge? Two weeks after the elimination of Char Glover from “Project Runway All Stars” in the unique, cartoon-inspired challenge “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” the fashion design spin-off returned with its seventh episode of season six, “A Kick in the Astro.” And if the designers thought their distressed challenge and unconventional-materials challenge were tough, this time around they had to go for broke and unleash their unbridled creativity in an avant garde challenge judged by guest stars RuPaul Charles and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Merline Labissiere has had a number of close calls this season on “Project Runway All Stars” already. She actually won the very first challenge of the season, impressing the judges with her autumn design in the opening team challenge. Joshua McKinley won the last “Project Runway All Stars” design challenge, “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” in which he wowed the judges with a sheer skirt and his version of a graphic tee. “Project Runway All Stars” fans weren’t pleased when judges Alyssa Milano, Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman decided to eliminate Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes.” Up until that point our users thought Valentine would win the season, and 93% of respondents thought she deserved to stay in the competition. Joshua McKinley advanced safely through season six of “Project Runway All Stars” without a single critique from the judges until episode six, “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” when he not only advanced to the next round but was named the winner of the design challenge. After six weeks of competition Anthony Williams is still the front-runner to win “Project Runway All Stars” season six with leading odds of 6/5. Will Helen Castillo be eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in episode six? That’s what the “Runway” fans we’ve polled are predicting. Helen Castillo narrowly avoided elimination in episode four of “Project Runway All Stars.” Not only was her unconventional ball gown in “Balls Out” not to the judges’ liking, they also disapproved of how she handled her critiques, disparaging her fellow designers’ methods and style choices. That was the second time in four weeks that Castillo has had one of the lowest scoring looks in a design challenge, so she may have a target on her back going into episode five tonight. Our users think she’s out of second chances and will be eliminated. Do you agree?
Every week we poll “Runway” fans for their predictions, and as of this writing Castillo gets leading odds of 19/10, which translates to a 33.96% chance of elimination. But perhaps she’ll be scared straight by last week’s close call and step up with her next design. That’s what happened to Stanley Hudson.

Sixteen defeated designers returned to the workroom Thursday for the sixth season of Project Runway All Stars to take one more shot at success — and a few shots at one another along the way.
RELATEDProject Runway Reunion: Claire Backpedals on Her Cheating Scandal
The premiere event pitted eight former All Stars — Anthony Williams, Carlos Casanova, Ari South, Joshua McKinley, Melissa Fleis, Fabio Costa, Ken Laurence and Helen Castillo — against eight newcomers — Kimberly Goldson, Amanda Valentine, Stanley Hudson, Charketa “Char” Glover, Merline Labissiere, Candice Cuoco, Edmond Newton and Kelly Dempsey — for what host Alyssa Milano assured them would be the only team challenge of the season.

The winning designer spills on his contestants, (and who he ‘can’t stand’), the best piece of advice he got from the judges and what he plans to do now that he was named the winner of the competition!
Congratulations are in order for Anthony Ryan Auld, the designer crowned victorious on Project Runway All Stars Season 2! In an Exclusive interview with HollywoodLife.com, the talented young designer reflects on a season of stunning looks and dishes on upcoming collaborations and collections! The best part is — he’s not afraid to call other designers out on their drama. The All Stars season brought back some of our favorite designers of seasons past, and Anthony Ryan was not about to let his big second chance go to waste. Having only made it to seventh place in Season 9, he described this time around as “my second chance to show who I am as a designer.

"Let's face it, I'm tired!"
It's the final episode! Would it provide any surprises?
No.
Actually, that's not true. There was one huge surprise. The designers are told they have four days to create their final mini-collections, but they don't have to to go it alone. All of the eliminated designers are brought back, and each finalist gets to pick one to help them get to the runway. This was expected, as it's been done ... on every Project Runway. The surprise is that Anthony Ryan picks new Bff Joshua to help him ... and Josh says no.
Unfortunately, it's not bitchiness that keeps Josh from offering his services (which would have been believable), it's something far more ... understandable. He's just ... tired.
Emilio chooses Althea, and Uli chooses Casanova, who apparently must be in a "dark place" too.
Let's take a look at how each of the designers fared!

Where the hell are they?
After last week's shock that Josh created something decent enough to force the show to keep him in the competition, would he defy the odds again and make it to the final three?
No.
But he did force a runoff with Uli, which was a surprising and actually suspenseful turn of events (and which Uli dubbed "The Hunger Games.")
The challenge this episode is to design a couture gown. They get more money than they've ever had, plus a trip to Paris to find inspiration at the House Of Valentino. Needless to say, they are ecstatic, but I was bitterly disappointed that we didn't get to see any of the plane ride over. I can't be the only one wondering ... Coach? Given Lifetime's budget, I think the odds are pretty good. And I have a terrible vision of Anthony Ryan being stored in the overhead compartment.

It was a first -- and an incredibly high pressure situation for two of the contestants -- on "Project Runway: All Stars." When the judges couldn't decide which of the bottom two designers to eliminate, they decided on an impromptu challenge. It would happen right there on the runway.
The designers were given one hour to deconstruct their dresses and repurpose them into entirely new looks. The judges hoped that this daunting task would help them make their decision. It didn't. Instead, both designers simply blew them away with what they were able to accomplish in that extraordinary situation.
"My mouth just dropped to the floor when both of your looks came out, because for one hour it’s just kind of extraordinary what you’ve done," Georgina Chapman said.
Cynthia Rowley took it one step further with her comment, saying, "I think it’s a hilarious f*ck you to all of us,...

Joshua McKinley became the latest designer to be eliminated from Project Runway: All Stars season two in one of the design competition's biggest twists ever. Thursday night's episode of the Lifetime series saw the final four designers fly to Paris for a private tour of fashion house Valentino, whose fashion show they later attended. The challenge tasked them with creating a couture-inspired dress on a budget of 3,000 euros (nearly $4,000). And you thought Top Gun couldn't be any gayer.
We're getting down to the final episodes, which means the producers have to work overtime to manipulate the outcome to get the final that they want. That was certainly the case this week, as a wrench was thrown into the well-oiled machine. A wrench named Joshua.
Josh has repeatedly been in the bottom three, and was dangling by a thread, and it seemed a certainty that he would be booted, leaving the top three Anthony, Emilio, and Uli, but he did the unexpected this week ... he made something good.

We start the show on New York City’s iconic Fifth Avenue, where we see the designers ogling the windows of one of the biggest designer’s offices. They go into the Elie Tahari store where they meet the one and only designer himself. This challenge’s prize? Elie Tahari is going to manufacture, produce and advertise the winning designer’s look! The proceeds go to Save the Garment Center, which is the cause that Mondo and I designed for last ‘All Stars’ season.
Emilio is seeing this challenge as an opportunity to showcase his ability to have a strong functioning business.

How can you root against this?
This week the designers have to create a ready-to-wear "wow" look while meeting a retail budget of $700 - $900. Their guest mentor and judge is Elie Tahari, who actually goes into the workroom with Joanna Coles to talk to the designers and assess their unfinished designs. It's the first time this season that the guest judge has entered the workroom, and I think it should happen more often, because it was one of the most affecting moments of the entire season. The designers learned his bootstrap backstory while receiving advice and encouragement about navigating the world of fashion.
The best moment of the show was when Anthony video chatted with close pal Matthew, who said he was giving up "Beer Night" at work to talk to him. But that's what best friends do for each other. And I'm glad My Sweet Anthony has someone to...

What in the holy hell is going on?
Sadly, the warm glow of last week's Kylie Minogue appearance has faded, and we're back to another could-have-been-interesting but ultimately lackluster challenge. But we did get one truly bizarre moment that says ... something ... about the phoniness of reality shows. But I'm not sure what.
This week the designers have to create a look for the modern woman based on the 1920s. But they also have to team up (and compete against each other). Anthony and Ivy are assigned a "speakeasy" look, Emilio and Joshua have "garden party," and Uli and Laura have "Social Soiree," which is redundant, but nevermind.
Laura holds up her Soiree card, the camera switches for a split second to Uli, and when we come back to Laura, the card now reads "Soriee." We all know that the designers have to go back and reshoot scenes to add dramatic or comedic effect,...

Kylie!
I don't know if it was the excitement of super special guest judge Kylie Minogue, or because the "unconventional challenges" are usually a lot of fun (if not fashion forward), but this was one of the most entertaining episodes of a very lackluster season.
The designers meet Carolyn Murphy at a NYC shipyard because ... well, I have no idea why the designers met Carolyn Murphy at a NYC shipyard. It makes no logical sense, because it has nothing to do with the challenge or with the introduction of some bigwig watchmaker, who tells them that the winner will receive a fancy watch. Actually, I was hoping Josh was right when he predicted a pirate theme, because I'd love to see them work with eyepatches, peg legs, and dead shoulder parrots.

"And now you will be hunted, one by one."
There's no getting around it ... this was a terrible episode. The designers have to use "green" materials to make a red carpet look, but all that means is that they forced the designers to try to create something un-ugly from the tackiest, ugliest swatches we've ever seen on Project Runway. We're talking sub-sub-motel curtains.
I have to give the designers credit for coming up with what they did, considering what they had to work with, but none of the final designs are what you'd call memorable. But at least they kept a sense of humor, and it's telling that the highlight of the episode was Casanova announcing that he smells, "Like a rat die in my armpit," which is a perfect metaphor.
So how did each designer do? Let's take a look. [photo_gallery|node_id=48409]

"And the sleeves will also work for our Robin Williams challenge"
This week the designers have to create an avant-garde, androgynous look for a male and female model. I thought this a terrific challenge (finally) as it would force many of the designers to go out of their comfort zones and get their creative juices flowing. And some of them gave it a game go. Althea and Uli stepped up, and while their looks weren't a total success, at least they tried, unlike the ever-annoying Laura, who is obviously remaining because the show needs someone to hate.

"Why yes, I am wearing a butt plug with ... mud flaps?" Seriously, what the hell is this?
This week had the potential to be interesting, but the challenge was just too random to be completely compelling. The designers had to choose a picture from one their "fans" on "Social Media," which in this case means Twitter. They had to create something to complement the picture, while not copying it.
For me, the highlight was watching Anthony Ryan discuss being diagnosed with cancer, and how he charged full steam ahead with his life while undergoing chemotherapy. We've only just said goodbye to the contestants of Project Runway's tenth season, and it's already time for a second go 'round for our All Stars! This season is a bit of a mixed bag - there's Joshua McKinley (the runner-up of the ninth cycle), Emilio Sansa, Althea Harper, Anthony Ryan Auld, Suede Baum, Laura Kathleen Planck, Ivy Higa, Peach Carr, Casanova, Uli Herzner, Kayne Gillaspie and Andrae Ganzalo. I only remember a handful of these people, but oh well. The group meets up at Parson's for the first time, where they continually call one another "amazing" in various forms. But wait - there's another contestant, and it's the hilariously amazing (pardon the expression) Wendy Pepper from season one! She's been known as a total bitch (not my words, I swear) and she's vowed not to change this time around, either - after all, (more)...

After the underwhelming Season Ten of Project Runway, I'm not sure it was a good idea for Lifetime to plunge immediately into a new cycle, as its easy to experience burnout (and this is the second All Stars series this year).
But luckily, this batch of designers is road tested for drama, skill and just a drop of crazy, so maybe they can deliver some excitement ...or at least, tears and slapfights.
The designers meet up, get acquainted (or re-acquainted), new host Carolyn Murphy informs them that the winner will receive the biggest prize in Runway history, with cash and fashion crap totaling $350,000 dollars, and then they are immediately thrust into the the thick of things (this series is only an hour an episode, which adds to the frenzy and eliminates the dull spots, thankfully).
Mentor Joanna Coles has them choose teams, and each team is assigned to create a mini collection with "attitude.

A second season of "Project Runway: All Stars" kicked off and brought with it a new host/judge in Carolyn Murphy. She was joined by returning judges Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman to help a new batch of thirteen contestants seen previously on the original "Project Runway." None of them have won before.
Perhaps the most infamous returning face belongs to Wendy Pepper, who came in third during the first season. She was the first villain of the series, and it was evident that her fame preceded her. When it came time for the team captains of this first challenge to assemble their teams via schoolyard pick, Wendy was the last one chosen.
Nevertheless, after their first day of work, the team seemed ready to embrace her, offering a toast to her. "From one bitch to another, Wendy Pepper!" said Joshua McKinley.
"I was totally taken aback," Wendy admitted in a confessional.

We can quibble about the name Project Runway: All-Stars, since I don't see prized contestants like Nick Verreos or Jillian Lewis in this lineup, but the second installment of Lifetime's alumni competition is probably going to be entertaining all the same. Truly. There are enough wild cards at play here -- each equipped with a wildly different skill type and level -- to make the season worth a run. The only problem? We need to rank which of these all-stars is destined for success. So here, just two days shy of Thursday's premiere, my predictions for the rankings of Project Runway All-Stars' new season. Spoiler: Pretty sure I made it work, guys.

Now, I am a human being, so I love Peach Carr, her constant catchphrasing (Loved when she said that her skirt wasn't short enough to "show the good china?), and her ritzy suburban Chicago flair.
