Rupert Murdoch admitted that Fox News hosts pushed lies about the 2020 election, court documents pertaining to Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the network revealed on Monday.
“They endorsed,” Murdoch, who chairs the Fox Corporation, said under oath during a deposition last month, responding to whether hosts like Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, and others broadcast support for unfounded claims that President Biden’s win was illegitimate.

Stephen Colbert opened his monologue on Wednesday’s “Late Show” by saying he had good news and bad news. “The bad news is I lied about the good news, and both bads combined to be the worst news,” he said.
On Wednesday, disgraced actor and comedian Bill Cosby was released from prison after his sexual assault convictions were overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court due to a preexisting non-prosecution agreement with the district attorney who preceded the Da who charged him. The court ruled that Cosby’s rights had been violated.
The studio audience booed at Cosby’s name. “Yeah, I agree with you,” Colbert said. “Or to put that another way, #MeToo.”
Colbert said he had no idea what comes next for Cosby. “My guess is he’s going to join Bill O’Reilly and the former president on tour,” he joked, flashing a monster truck rally-style poster for the...

President Trump has long loathed the Academy Awards, viewing the ceremony as a teeming hive of the Hollywood elites who have categorically rejected him (except for Jon Voight).
But he has a predictable new gripe with this year’s Oscars, which he aired Thursday night during a rally in Colorado. Trump wasn’t happy that a foreign film, South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite, won the top prize.
“How bad were the Academy Awards this year? Did you see?” Trump said. “And the winner is … a movie from South Korea.

Update, with Starr’s afternoon comments Ken Starr, the former independent counsel who led the Bill Clinton impeachment investigation, said on Fox News this morning that Ambassador Gordon Sondland’s testimony is a “bombshell” that all but guarantees articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
Starr, who yesterday said the House Intelligence Committee impeachment hearings had not proven a crime, said today that things had changed with Sondland’s testimony..
Asked by Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer about Sondland’s testimony, Starr said, “It leads me that there will be articles of impeachment. I think we’ve known that. I think it was just confirmed today, and then substantively what we heard from the chairman just now is, it’s over.”

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, who has been pretty much in lockstep with Speaker Nancy Pelosi when it comes to downplaying talk of impeachment, seemed to strike a different note than the speaker on matters of Ukraine and how the controversy may lead to impeachment proceedings of President Donald Trump.
On Sunday, Schiff told CNN’s Jake Tapper that the president’s actions are forcing the Democrats’ hand. “The president is pushing us down this road. And if in particular — after having sought foreign assistance and welcomed foreign assistant in...

On Sunday, Former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford announced that he will challenge President Donald Trump for the 2020 Republican nomination.
Sanford made the announcement on Fox News Sunday, telling host Chris Wallace that one of the reasons he is running is because “the Republican Party has lost its way.”
“As a Republican Party, we have lost our way, and I’d say so on a couple of different fronts. First and sort of the epicenter of where I’m coming from is that we have lost our way on debt and deficits and spending,...

Mark Kelly, the fighter pilot-turned-astronaut and husband of retired congresswoman Gabby Giffords, announced in February that he is running to unseat Sen. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.) in 2020. His campaign has been doing quite well. In July, it announced that Kelly had raised $4.2 million in the second quarter, more than all but six presidential candidates. Kelly’s campaign manager called the haul a “sonic boom.” Get it?
On Tuesday, an Arizona poll showed Kelly leading McSally — who lost her 2018 race against Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) but was appointed by the state’s...

During the Everytown Gun Safety Town Hall in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday, Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang was brought to tears after a woman in the audience shared a gut wrenching story about losing her four-year daughter.
Prior to asking a question the woman said her daughter was struck by a stray bullet in 2011 and that her son, her daughter’s twin brother, witnessed the tragedy. After reciting some information and statistics about accidental shootings, the woman asked Yang what he would do as president to address unintentional shootings.

The Senate passed a bill Tuesday reauthorizing the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. The vote was 97-2, with only Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) objecting to extending the fund, which offers health care compensation to survivors and first responders, beyond its previously scheduled expiration in 2020. The House of Representatives passed the bill overwhelmingly earlier this month, which means it will now move to President Trump’s desk, where he is expected to make the extension official.

President Donald Trump called into Hannity on Thursday night. As is usually the case whenever the president and his favorite Fox News personality convene on the air, the “interview” was extremely long — about 45 minutes this time — and incredibly terrifying.

Last summer, after public outcry over the Trump administration’s newly instituted policy of separating migrant children from their parents at the border reached a fever pitch, the president responsible tried to distance himself from the action. Then, he issued an executive order that put the onus on Congress to solve the problem. “We’re going to have strong, very strong borders, but we’re going to keep the families together,” Donald Trump said. “I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.

Clinton was there to receive the 2019 International Unity Award and delivered a speech, saying, “We are living through a full-fledged crisis in our democracy.”

President Trump loves to talk about how much he supports the military. “It is our sacred duty to support America’s Service Members every single day they wear the uniform — and every day after when they return home as Veterans,” he tweeted last Thursday. “Together we will Honor those who defend us, we will Cherish those who protect us, and we will celebrate the amazing heroes.”
But the words Trump’s staff writes for him to recite behind podiums don’t always jibe with the sentiments festering inside his head.

In May 2017, one day before a special election to represent Montana in the House of Representatives, Republican candidate Greg Gianforte physically attacked Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs. Provoked only by a question about health care, Gianforte body-slammed Jacobs, breaking his glasses. The candidate and his campaign then lied to police about what transpired, and, the next day, Gianforte won the election. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to perform community service, attend anger management classes and pay a fine. He was also slapped with a 180-day deferred sentence.

Donald Trump praised the Montana congressman who attacked a reporter in 2017 as “my kind of guy” at a rally on Thursday.
“By the way, never wrestle him,” Trump said of Montana Republican Greg Gianforte. “You understand that? Never. Any guy that can do a body slam, he’s my kind of guy. He’s my guy.” Trump also mimed a body slam, to loud cheers and laughter from the audience.
Last year, during the special election to replace Republican Ryan Zinke, who stepped down to become Secretary of the Interior, Gianforte had a confrontation with Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs at his campaign headquarters. According to Jacobs and two other witnesses, Gianforte “bodyslammed” the reporter after being asked about the Republicans’ healthcare plan.
