Latino AVOD phenomenon Vix, which controls the biggest multi-platform Latino digital media audience in the world, is extending its reach as it pushes to underscore its relevance, premiering three Covid-19 confinement-themed series, all produced entirely during Covid-19 lockdown.
Making its world premiere on Vix, “The New Normal” is an eight-part doc-series featuring self-interviews and real-life moments of Brazilians around the world. Locales include Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, New Zealand, England, Israel and China. The series is produced by Vix’s in-house creative team led by director of Ott content, Ines Salles.

Madrid — Legendary Global, the TV production-financing house launched last December by Chris Albrecht and Anne Thomopoulos, has struck a weighty production alliance with Barcelona’s ESPotlight to develop and produce premium content targeting the global Spanish-speaking market.
Announced Thursday, the deal sees Legendary Global committing to develop and produce with ESPotlight 10-plus productions a year targeting streaming platforms, pay TV and commercial networks.
First up, and currently in production, is “La Treintena,” a feel-good dramedy written and directed by Mireia Noguera and co-written by Marta Vives.

Spanish based distribution house Filmax International recently released a psychological thriller, titled Son of Cain, this year. Released exclusively in Spain, Son of Cain involves a gifted child with sociopathic tendencies. The film stars José Coronado (El Cuerpo), Julio Manrique (Soldiers of Salamina) and David Solans. Also, this is director Jesús Monllaó first feature and the script was developed from Ignacio García-Valiño's novel, Querido Cain. A trailer for this film has just been released and fans of thrillers can preview this title here. The story deals with a difficult child. Nico (Solans) is confrontational and abusive. He delights in little tortures and in the game of chess. A psychologist is brought in to treat this teenager, but even Julio (Manrique) is outmatched by this intelligent and sadistic young man.
