Daytime star Jeanne Cooper didn’t hide the fact that she got a facelift in 1984. She couldn’t, since footage from the procedure aired on The Young and the Restless 40 years ago, on March 28 of that year. Cooper, who played Katherine Chancellor on the CBS soap from 1974 until just before her death in 2013, said on The Talk in 2012 that the procedure was her idea. “I walked by a mirror one day and scared the hell out of myself,” she quipped (per HuffPost). “Everything that happened in that storyline was first-hand. And you saw everything as I saw it.” In a 2009 Television Academy interview, Cooper said that when she asked The Young and the Restless co-creator Bill Bell for time off to recover from her facelift, he thought that art could imitate life. “He came down to the dressing room one day, and he said, ‘Jeanne, how would you feel about...

Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the Jackson family, has responded to her grandson, Bigi Jackson, amid an ongoing legal dispute concerning the late Michael Jackson’s estate.
The conflict arose after Bigi objected to his grandmother’s use of estate funds to cover her legal fees in a disagreement with the estate’s executors over the sale of Michael Jackson’s catalog to Sony. In a filing dated March 20, Katherine filed a response with her arguments in the matter.
In documents, Katherine alleges that the estate’s executors are excessively frugal in the distribution of funds to beneficiaries and asserts that they have the financial means to cover the requested costs. Her filing suggests that the executors have retained control over the estate’s assets, possibly to avoid the more liberal distribution requirements outlined in the trust. Given the estate’s current valuation of $1.5 billion, Katherine argues that the executors...

Everyone stayed in character: The town’s mayor (Michael Imperioli) shooed the activist out, whereas Dr.

It isn’t just you. We’re two weeks into the new year and every show on TV has become a murder mystery.
There are reality murder mysteries (Traitors) and animated murder mysteries (Grimsburg) and British murder mysteries (Criminal Record) and occult murder mysteries (Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale). There are murder mysteries without daylight (True Detective: Night Country) and adapted recent murder mysteries (Fool Me Once) and adapted characters in original murder mysteries (Monsieur Spade).
Those are just January premieres. So far. There’ll be at least one more new murder mystery before the end of the week (The Woman in the Wall).
It’s easy to point to the blockbuster success of the two Knives Out movies and the steady success of the Kenneth Branagh/Michael Green-steered Hercule Poirot movies as a business-driven cause.
Sociologically, it’s easy to point to a decade of distrust of institutional policing...

David Gordon Green won’t be performing another exorcism as it’s been announced that he has exited The Exorcist: Deceiver. It’s not exactly surprising given the negative reception that The Exorcist: Believer received, but this means that the sequel will be pushed back as Universal and Blumhouse search for a new director.
The Exorcist: Deceiver was originally slated to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, but the sequel has been taken off the schedule. After a disappointing box-office opening, the word on the street was that the sequels would likely be reworked; after all, the studios did spend $400 million to acquire the rights to the trilogy. The Exorcist: Believer ended its theatrical run with $137 million; not bad for a $30 million budget, but hardly what Universal was expecting from the return of a major horror franchise.

Director David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist: Believer was always supposed to be the first film in a planned trilogy from Blumhouse and Universal, part of a $400 million deal to bring the franchise back to life on the big screen. In fact, The Exorcist: Deceiver had already been dated for release on April 18, 2025, but it sounds like Universal is pumping the brakes.
THR reports this afternoon that David Gordon Green will no longer be directing The Exorcist: Deceiver, and that Universal and Blumhouse are actively seeking a new director.
According to the site, Gordon Green is exiting The Exorcist: Deceiver as director because he’s busy working on feature film Nutcrackers and TV series “The Righteous Gemstones.”
The problem here is that Believer got the reboot trilogy off to a shaky start, the film flopping with critics and failing to make a huge splash at the box office. Gordon...

What are the chances that two films called The Piper, both horror films involving the legend of The Pied Piper, would come out in the same year? And that both would be hard to see? While I haven’t seen the one starring Liz Hurley yet, I did get a chance to see the one written and directed by Erlingur Thoroddsen and featuring the late Julian Sands in one of his last roles.
It opens with the voice of Gustafson (Sands) on the phone trying to talk Katherine out of destroying the last copy of her Concerto for Children. She tells him “It is evil, no one must ever know about it” before rushing outside to try and burn it in her fire pit. But something with glowing eyes intervenes, and she burns while the manuscript survives.

Fresh from the recent Halloween sequels, director and co-writer David Gordon Green takes a crack at another big-name horror franchise with this legacy sequel to The Exorcist, the first of a planned trilogy. Actress and stuntwoman Carrie Bernans was critically injured during an alleged hit and run in New York City at 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Bernans, whose work includes 2023’s The Color Purple as well as Marvel’s Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame, was hurt along with eight others. Per her publicist, she was struck by a driver who crashed into an outdoor dining shed at Chirp, a Peruvian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. That driver then backed up and rammed into another car before officers swarmed.
Bernans recently gave birth to a son, and luckily the newborn wasn’t with her but rather in a hotel with her family. Bernans was in stable condition and is undergoing surgery. Her mom posted details on the traumatic incident on Instagram and said Bernans is in rough shape.

An undocumented Filipino cleaner is employed at a vast, remote mansion to care for a bedridden David Hayman, while hiding her daughter Grace
There are interesting ideas – and a tremendous final choir sequence – in this scary movie; it offers a critique of British colonialism, and also plays with the text of Rudyard Kipling’s 1899 poem The White Man’s Burden that urged the United States to assume the thankless imperial task of civilising and subjugating the people of the Philippines, and nobly overlooking how ungrateful they are going to be. There is ingenuity here, and good acting, but the film for me feels flawed by its strained melodrama, an absence of scares and by a very odd scene of almost unreal, farcical absurdity.

In 1998, Glen Salzman and Katherine Buck launched Montreal-based Cineflix Media with one of its first series, “Dogs with Jobs.” Unable to secure Canadian financing, they pitched the series at the Banff World Media Festival to international broadcasters during a market simulation session.
From there, the company produced five seasons of the factual series, which continues to sell internationally. More impressively, it was the beginning of Cineflix growing from a company with three factual shows into one of Canada’s largest independent producers, with creative, production and distribution arms in Montreal, Toronto, New York, London and Dublin.
Over the years, Cineflix has brought marquee talent and shows like “Property Brothers,” “American Pickers” and “Mayday: Air Disaster” to global audiences. Jack Lee, the singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer with the 1970s West Coast band The Nerves who wrote the power pop trio’s “Hanging on the Telephone,” famously covered by Debbie Harry and Blondie, has died. He was 71.
Lee died May 26 in Santa Monica after a three-year battle with colon cancer, his family announced. “He never gave up on his music, to the very end,” they wrote in a statement. “His guitar, right by his side. He lived his songs. One by one they told the story of his life. Some dreams die. His never will.”
In 1976, The Nerves — Lee on guitar, Peter Case on bass and Paul Collins on drums — secured a $2,000 loan to record a four-song, self-titled, self-released EP in San Francisco that featured two Lee compositions, “Give Me Some Time” and “Hanging on the Telephone.”

When his agent first suggested that Karim Aïnouz direct an adaptation of Elizabeth Fremantle’s “Queen’s Gambit,” a historical novel about Katherine Parr, the sixth and final wife of Henry VIII, he thought she was joking. The Brazilian director of “The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão” wasn’t a natural choice to bring 16th century England to life on screen. For one thing, Aïnouz didn’t really know anything about the oft-married monarch.
“I could barely identify who Henry VIII was, and I’m not into the monarchy,” he says on the eve of the Cannes premiere of “Firebrand,” the movie he made from Fremantle’s book. “I’m not into British history. I was very puzzled.”
But he started to read up on Tudor history and on Parr and he became captivated by the queen who outmaneuvered her husband to survive his tumultuous final days on the throne.

Jude Law took Method acting to the next sensory level.
The star of “Firebrand,” who plays King Henry VIII at the end of the royal’s life, revealed during the Cannes press conference that he commissioned a custom “awful” fragrance to get into character. Law had no problem smelling like “puss, blood, fecal matter, and sweat” opposite co-star Alicia Vikander, who plays Queen Katherine Parr, in Karim Aïnouz’s period piece.
“I read these several interesting accounts that at this period, you could smell Henry three rooms away because his leg was rotten so badly. He hid it with rose oil,” Law told the press corps (check out a clip courtesy of Variety below). “So I just thought it would have a great impact if I smelled awful. Like a beloved monarch, Alicia Vikander was greeted with an eight-minute standing ovation at the May 21 Cannes premiere of director Karim Aïnouz’s “Firebrand,” from a crowd that included best actress Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Marion Cotillard.
With her husband Michael Fassbender beaming on from the row behind, Vikander motioned for the cheering audience to stop or she would cry. But then she gave into the adulation and blew kisses to the upper balconies.
Vikander’s co-star Jude Law, who plays a cruel and merciless King Henry VIII, and Brazilian helmer Aïnouz also got huge applause from the crowd at the Palais. Vikander joins a group of Cannes leading ladies including Lily Gladstone, Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore who have turned in show-stopping performances.
Oscar-winner Vikander stars in “Firebrand” as Katherine Parr, the sixth and final wife of the brutal king, as she tries to outmaneuver and outlast the barely recognizable Law.

Most movies about England’s King Henry VIII like to focus on the mercurial monarch’s failed marriages. His six wives have been collectively described as divorced, died, beheaded, divorced, beheaded, survived. That last one, the little talked-about Katherine Parr, had the distinction of outlasting Henry — their marriage was about four years as he started to succumb to the result of hard living. She was there during that time, but also a wife who if she weren’t so connected to the King easily could have qualified as a feminist. She not only was the first English woman to have a book published, was privately a radical Protestant in an England that had been staunchly Catholic, but also a sharply intelligent woman who had a head on her shoulders and was determined to keep it there.
The new movie from Brazilian-Algerian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz, Firebrand premiered in competition Sunday at the Cannes Film Festival.

There have been any number of films about Henry VIII and how the English king’s various wives kept losing their heads, but precious few have focused on the one queen who managed to outlive him; Katherine Parr has been a bit player in the likes of 1953’s “Young Bess”, but Karim Aïnouz’s “Firebrand” puts this radically progressive woman of the people at the center of the story in a way that has never been done before.
And yet, despite its righteous attempt to reframe history — an effort supported by the natural steeliness of Alicia Vikander’s performance as a social activist who’s trying to reshape her country without screwing up her marriage to its tyrannical sovereign — this bland period drama can’t help but feel like a familiar tale of court intrigue. Ari Aster‘s three-hour surrealist drama “Beau Is Afraid” marked a tonal shift from his nightmare-inducing films “Midsommar” and “Hereditary.”
In the feature, which tackles inherited trauma and mommy issues, Joaquin Phoenix plays Beau, who finds himself on an Odyssean journey to return home after his mother’s untimely death. To score the film, Aster recruited “Midsommar” composer Bobby Krlic, but, unlike their last collaboration, creating the music of “Beau Is Afraid” was a “long and arduous process” as they worked to crack the sound of Beau’s journey.

Paint is a film written and directed by Brit McAdams starring Owen Wilson.
It is a comedy that boasts the flag of quirkiness, and, in its 60s hippy vibes, it is attractive… for a while.
One of those comedies that, unfortunately, runs out of fuel in its initial approach without having a clear idea to develop.
Paint Movie review
There’s some charm to it as a nostalgic product and as a chance to recall for a while the times in which Forrest Gump found love… to the rhythm of Dolly Parton. It has some style regarding the recreation more than in the interpretation or the story, which don’t want to be memorable at any time.
This film has the dubious merit of being told as it renders the life of this painter, something that ends apparently without leaving any trace, transitioning between light comedy and an acid sense...
It is a comedy that boasts the flag of quirkiness, and, in its 60s hippy vibes, it is attractive… for a while.
One of those comedies that, unfortunately, runs out of fuel in its initial approach without having a clear idea to develop.

Chris Pratt knows how to stand strong against haters, thanks to his faith, even though he’s been criticized for it.
The actor, who stars in the new “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, told Page Six on Monday, during a screening of his new Marvel film, that he “sure [does]” get criticized for his faith, “but that’s nothing new.”
He echoed his point by quoting a biblical scripture.

“If I was of this world, they would love me just like that but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20,” he told the outlet.
“That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too,” he continued, referring to Jesus Christ.

The friends on A Million Little Things Season 5, Episode 13 laughed and cried as the series came to an end.
Our TV Fanatics, Jack, Jasmine, and Christine, rate the series finale, debate Gary's end-of-life plan, and decide which storylines they want to see more of.
And what did they think about that 15-year flash forward? Read on to find out.
Rate this series finale from 1 (I hated it) to 10 (it was amazing).
Jack: I'm giving it a 7. Honestly, I wasn't sure if I could get through it after last week. Watching the first half of Gary's death was so painful and overly realistic, and I was Not looking forward to more of that.
But the ending tied many things together nicely, had the friends come together one last time to handle the end of Gary's life, and had his beautiful narration 15 years in the future. So it was a very good...
