Dvbbs are back today with their most mesmerizing material to date with the new Beautiful Disaster Ep. Despite making their name in the big room arena, the Canadian DJ duo have steadily been changing their image in recent memory with songs like “La La Land” with Shaun Frank and Delaney Jane, and the new collection sees them delivering their most diverse offering yet. Released via their own Kanary imprint, the Beautiful Disaster Ep features a number of collaborators, most notably rapper Juicy J.
Over the span of six tracks, Dvbbs offer up a genre bending collection of songs that touch on trap, house and future pop. Tracks like the Juicy J collab “Moonrock” and “24K” serve as the Ep’s more energetic moments as they deliver hard hitting trap beats and blaring bass.

After becoming a go to vocalist for Shaun Frank on tracks like his Dvbbs collaboration “La La Land” and “Heaven” with Kshmr, Delaney Jane is back to contribute her distinctive brand of topline melodies for the latest Grandtheft original. Titled “Easy Go,” the new single sees the two musicians delivering a pop tinged future bass effort with an irresistibly catchy sound.
“Easy Go” kicks off with some light percussion and a scratchy bassline as Delaney Jane’s gentle crooning takes the lead. The drums drop away as the speakers are filled with a soaring chord progression, before rolling snares and rising synths push the tune forward into the drops. Grandtheft takes over with an impressive future bass workout, utilizing the singer’s acapella to craft a winding melody over splashy chord flourishes and trap rhythms.

The hour long video captures the full set in all its glory, showing off the impressive Led display and explosive pyrotechnics that served as the visual backdrop for the gig. Throughout the performance, Kshmr drops a number of his best known tunes like “Secrets,” “Dharma,” and “Wildcard,” with plenty of other big name DJs like Dvbbs, Shaun Frank, Headhunterz and more appearing on the setlist.

Hot off the heels of the recently released “Closer” remix pack, which featured reworks of The Chainsmokers’ latest hit single by Shaun Frank, R3HAB, Robotaki and Wuki, electronic group Dirtyphonics have surfaced with their own take on the song.
Dirtyphonics kick their “Closer” remix off innocently enough, focusing on the somber piano progression and Andrew Taggart’s vocals from the original song. Moving past the first verse, the band takes a wild turn with filthy synths, half time drumstep beats and a fat vocoder that repeats the phrase “we ain’t ever getting older.” After Halsey’s verse, the remix delivers a rapid fire drum and bass drop with hard hitting break beats and growling bass.

We’ve already heard a number of top notch remixes of The Chainsmokers latest hit “Closer,” with producers like Jauz and Slushii offering up their own versions of the song. Now the smash single is getting stuck in our head all over again as the duo drop an official remix pack for the single, featuring new renditions courtesy of Shaun Frank, R3HAB, Wuki and Robotaki.
First up is the previously heard R3HAB mix, which delivers a feel good production with light tropical vibes, ear pleasing vocal chop melodies and uplifting rhythms.
Wuki delivers an unexpectedly bass heavy remix, kicking off with a brief percussion driven intro. The drums drop out to make way for Halsey’s vocals set against a stark chord progression, leading into a powerful build up. The track then explodes into driving house drops with grinding bass.

Shaun Frank has steadily been establishing himself as one of the brightest talents in dance music, delivering a string of top notch releases in recent memory that show off his versatility as both a songwriter and producer. He teamed up with Dvbbs and Delaney Jane earlier in the summer on the excellent “La La Land,” while he recently previewed his upcoming remix of The Chainsmoker’s “Closer,” a tune he helped pen. Now his latest effort with Ashe on “Let You Get Away” is here.
“Let You Get Away” opens with an ear catching synth melody before Ashe’s distinctive vocals begin to spin a tale of a messy romance. Shaun Frank crafts a memorable production that blends tuneful pop melodies and forward thinking dance elements, moving from vocal driven verses into rowdy drops with jittery horn samples and groovy trap rhythms.

Shaun Frank shares writing credits on “Closer,” so it’s no surprise to hear the rising producer take on the task of remixing the massive single. Though the summer has been wrought with controversy and bad press for Dvbbs, the Canadian DJ duo are rising above as they return with a new single titled “Ur On My Mind.” Their latest effort continues the evolution of their sound following up on their single with Shaun Frank and Delaney Jane on “La La Land.”
“Ur On My Mind” features a sun soaked production, kicking off with a pleasing piano progression as club rhythms enter the mix. The beats cut out to make way for a catchy vocal track before a build up leads the tune into the drop, driven by four on the floor drum patterns, uplifting melody chops and a rolling bassline.
A far cry from tracks like “Tsunami” that brought Dvbbs to fame, the duo’s latest single sees them continuing to forge productions centered around poppy vocals and melody – and we definitely like what we hear.

Last week, Steve Aoki announced his 4Oki Ep, a four part collection of songs and accompanying music videos. Following up on his collaboration with Autoerotique on “Ilysm,” Aoki has returned to deliver a new single and clip, this time enlisting the assistance of Canadian producer Shaun Frank on “Dope Girlz.”
Musically, “Dope Girlz” is a hard hitting house banger with grungy bass synths and powerful rhythms. The new single has plenty of club friendly energy and a surprisingly quality production, continuing a trend from the Autoerotique collab of seemingly owing more to the featured artist than Aoki himself.
The video for “Dope Girlz,” meanwhile, features a basic party concept captured in striking black and white, as Aoki DJs in an intimate club setting.
Steve Aoki will be dropping the 4Oki Ep via his own imprint Dim Mak records on July 29, with a new single coming out every Friday until its release.

Shaun Frank took to social media today to share a video of he and Delaney Jane performing an acoustic rendition of their song “Heaven.” The single was originally released as a collaboration with the highly respected Kshmr, featuring an electronic backbone that underscored the somber pop song.
Shot in Shaun Frank’s living room performance space, the video features the Canadian musician on piano as Delaney Jane belts out her familiar emotive vocal delivery. The stripped down performance of “Heaven” reveals the delicate ballad buried beneath Kshmr’s production in the original version, while shedding light on the creative process that lead to the finished product.
As if an acoustic rendition of the gorgeous song wasn’t enough, the DJ and producer invited fans to suggest other suitable candidates for the acoustic treatment. Considering the success of the “Heaven” video, we’ll be looking forward to more acoustic performances from Shaun Frank in the future.

Unlike what Frank and Jane put together for last year’s “Heaven,” “La La Land” deviates far from the future house formula. In a class all its own, the track follows a simple yet poignant production methodology, allowing Jane’s angelic vocals to ring out with an ethereal crispness.
In addition to “La La Land,” Jane recently told us that she has a single coming out in May – and Frank revealed that collaborations with The Chainsmokers and Steve Aoki would follow shortly thereafter.

Shaun Frank gained quite a bit of traction as a purveyor of future house in 2015, but news of his upcoming collaborations with two major artists suggest that 2016 might be his true breakout year. The Canadian DJ/producer has revealed that he has tracks in the works with both Steve Aoki and The Chainsmokers.
Frank and his collaborating vocalist, Delaney Jane, recently sat down with We Got This Covered for an exclusive interview. At the end, he revealed the following:
I’ve got a track with The Chainsmokers coming soon. No date yet, but it’s coming. And I have a song with Steve Aoki as well coming in May. Plus I’ve got some solo stuff, too.
While his intelligent and distinct style of future house could certainly compliment The Chainsmokers’ own shimmering sound design qualities, it’s hard to imagine what a Shaun Frank x Aoki track might sound like.

As is usually the case, the list of artists here is mostly made up of those who aren’t playing at Ultra – and if you ask us, it’s a pretty impressive group of talent. On the Friday, No Sugar Added boasts Arty, Audien, Cash Cash, Adventure Club, What So Not, Dyro and Makj, among others.

For anyone who’s had the pleasure of attending Electric Daisy Carnival (Edc), you’ll know that there really is no other experience like it. When it comes to putting on a spectacle, few do it like Insomniac does. The size and scale of their flagship festival is staggering, the production and design is dazzling, the music is fantastic, the people couldn’t be friendlier and perhaps, most important of all, the moments and memories that you make there are simply unforgettable.
Now that we’re into February, we’ve reached the halfway mark to this year’s outing of Edc, which just so happens to be the 20th anniversary. And to celebrate, Insomniac and Marquee Dayclub have teamed up once again to throw their annual Halfway to Edc event, which took place this past weekend (February 13-14).

Well, what do you know, it turns out that three artists whom I’d filed firmly under “meh” turn out pretty fantastic music when you put them in a studio together. Snbrn, Shaun Frank and Dr. Fresch have delivered an infectious club anthem titled “The New Order” that straddles the line between bass house and G house with style.
I know what you’re thinking, and yeah – none of those artists usually make anything remotely G house or bass house. Snbrn and Shaun Frank both put out dreamy, melodic future house songs, and Dr. Fresch is the proud purveyor of a particularly dark style of trap music. Then again, if you made a Venn diagram with a circle for each of those styles, I suppose “The New Order” might fall somewhere in the area where they overlap.
At the end of the day, though, who cares who made it? The track pops,...

After a steady stream of quality releases over the past several months, The Chainsmokers have now dropped a new Ep titled Bouquet. Along with four previously released tracks (“Roses,” “Until You Were Gone,” “Good Intentions” and “Waterbed“), we also get a brand new one in the form of “New York City.”
Featuring vocalist Brittany, it’s a beautiful ode to the boys’ home city, full of raw emotion that culminates in an energetic, progressive drop that’s sure to have fans jumping up and down as Alex and Drew embark on their upcoming Friend Zone tour. A tour which will see them receive support from artists like Ansolo, DallasK, Shaun Frank and more. If you haven’t already done so, you can snag tickets here.

You don’t always yield good music just by putting two world-class artists together on a track – but then again, sometimes you do. Shaun Frank and Kshmr are two artists whose respective bodies of work certainly stand up on their own (despite the latter artist only recently playing his first live gig), but what they’ve put together for “Heaven” makes us hope they’ve got more projects in the works together.
It certainly doesn’t hurt the song’s case that Delaney’s spirited vocal hooks the listener right off the bat. When the piano melody that underscores it gives way to an emphatic uplift, however, is when Frank and Kshmr’s influences stand out the most.
Frank’s unique style of future house dominates the breakdown, while Kshmr flexes his muscles as the producer’s producer that he is with a barrage of incidentals that would almost be...

Arriving from the UK this summer to Toronto is Bestival, a music fest that’s decidedly more indie than most of its peers, but still boasts an incredible lineup of talent. For its first Canadian outing, the organizers have put together what looks to be quite a stacked roster, as the recently revealed lineup indicates.
Toronto acts like Keys N Krates, Grandtheft, Shaun Frank and Hunter Siegel are mixed in with huge international stars like Flume, Robin Schulz, Florence + The Machine, Clean Bandit and more to make up an exciting and eclectic lineup. It’s refreshing to see a festival that isn’t dominated by Edm main stage acts, and Bestival should prove to be a breath of fresh air this summer.
Bestival will take place on the Toronto Islands from June 12th-13th. Tickets will be available over on the official website starting March 5th. Until then, take a...
