Native of Dallas, Texas, Katherine Sloan graduated from Vanderbilt
University with a degree in English and Film Studies then moved to LA
with hopes of becoming a writer for television. Her experiences in film
range from experimental video art to documentary to music videos to
short features. She interned and worked for Dallas-based
documentary-making company Media Projects, Inc. in 2010, and in 2011
she interned for Nashville-based Ruckus Films. After script-supervising
and editing short feature Talking To Arthur in 2011 that received the
Ground Zero Tennessee Spirit Award for Best Narrative Short Drama at
the Nashville Film Festival, she took a more focused interest in
narrative film. She gained experience as a writer's assistant working
for produced screenwriter and published author William M. Akers. In the
spring of 2012, she wrote short narrative drama Just Talking for
production at Vanderbilt University. Now living in LA, she continues to
write stories that feature strong female leads, combine comedy and
drama, and approach difficult topics through a unique and redemptive
lens.
