"I'm starting to confuse reality with my nightmares." Well Go USA has revealed an official US trailer for a Russian supernatural thriller called Row 19 directed by Alexander Babaev. This already opened in Russia last fall and is getting a US release on VOD and disc to watch in May. A young female doctor with a 6-year-old daughter is on a night flight caught in a terrible storm. In a half-empty cabin, she faces the unexplained deaths of her fellow passengers, begins to lose her grip on reality and relives the worst nightmare from her childhood. Some evil force is back to finish what it started years ago. The movie stars Svetlana Ivanova, Marta Timofeeva, Wolfgang Cerni, Ekaterina Vilkova, Anatoliy Ko, and Victoria Korlyakova. This looks like it gets super intense once things get going. It's an English-language dub of the film, which sucks, but I guess they don't want...

We recently shared a short horror film called Whisper that used Amazon’s Alexa to creep you out. This week we’ll have one called Hospice that will make you not want to ever work in a healthcare situation alone. Hospice was written and directed by Alexander Babaev and is really good for those looking for a little spooky shot to enjoy. Also, the last line is probably the icing on the cake.

Top-lining the section is the premiere of “Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock,” a documentary from the Oscar-nominated team of Josh Fox and James Spione and Executive Producer Shailene Woodley. Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
Bomb, bomb bomb bomb, Boooooomb! Things just kept getting worse and worse at the box office as this past weekend saw more new releases not meeting up to their potential. The horribly-reviewed horror movie Rings (Paramount) ended up around where I predicted with $13 million, taking second place to M. Night Shyamalan’s Split. The sci-fi romance The Space Between Us (Stx Entertainment) didn’t make much of a mark, opening in ninth place with just $3.8 million with about $1,300 per theater. Robert De Niro’s The Comedian (Sony Classics) tanked worse than many recent movies, making less than a million in 848 theaters or about $1,000 per theater. By comparison, the doc I Am Not Your Negro made about 78% of that amount in 800 less theaters.

Who doesn’t love The Evil Dead? It’s the cult classic that keeps on giving. Well, in the press release for writer/director Alexander Babaev’s Bornless Ones, it makes no attempt […]...

*an online screener of this film was provided by Uncork'd Entertainment. Director/writer: Alexander Babaev. Cast: Margaret Judson, Devin Goodsell, Michael Johnston, Mark Furze and Bobby T. Bornless Ones is an upcoming indie horror release from Uncork'd Entertainment. The film is a demonic possession thriller, which admits its influences, specifically Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead (1981). The film could easily be used as a "What Not to Do" in regards to first-aid. These characters take a lot of damage, with friends causing a lot of the pain. The acting is also decent, despite some of the cast lacking extensive acting experience. The actors sell the film, especially the grimmer parts. This film viewer had only one major complaint, involving demonic possession. The characters's free will is removed, when the demons just takeover their bodies. As it is, Bornless Ones is an enjoyable time spent with a number of bloody scenarios. Horror...

Take four outrageously good looking guys and gals, a fifth guy with some sort of life challenging disease… Move them into a new out of the way house with a secret history, not to far from an institution; have them desecrate and destroy what look to be supernatural symbols boarding up the windows and you have Bornless Ones. Oh and there’s also scary possession, craziness and a fair bit of really well done gore. Seriously well done gore!
Now that’s not to say that Bornless Ones lacks originality in any way because it really does not. Ok, we may have seen the creepy house in the middle of nowhere that scares the crap out of its occupants before,...
