“Vampire Academy” has added eight recurring guest stars, Variety has learned exclusively.
Angela Wynter, Lorna Brown, Louisa Connolly-Burnham, Cornelius Macarthy, Jason Diaz, Jennifer Kirby (“Call The Midwife”), Joseph Ollman and Pik-Sen Lim will all appear in the series as recurring characters.
Based on the book series of the same name by Richelle Mead, “Vampire Academy” follows two best friends — Rose Hathaway (Sisi Stringer), a vampire-human hybrid, and Lissa Dragomir (Daniela Nieves), a Royal Moroi vampire. As Rose and Lissa prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society, the two must also fight for their relationship as society attempts to tear them apart. In addition to Stringer and Nieves, the young adult drama series stars Kieron Moore, André Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser and Andrew Liner.
Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Television.

Call the Midwife is returning to PBS later this month with its 11th season. Currently set in the 1960s, the drama series follows nurses, midwives, and nuns from Nonnatus House in London's East End. Jenny Agutter, Linda Bassett, Judy Parfitt, Helen George, Laura Main, Victoria Yeates, Jennifer Kirby, Leonie Elliott, Stephen McGann, Cliff Parisi, Annabelle Apsion, Max Macmillan, Trevor Cooper, and Daniel Laurie star in the BBC TV show, which has already been renewed through season 13.

“Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu has addressed screenwriter Adele Lim leaving the hit 2018 movie’s planned sequel over a pay disparity between Lim and co-writer Peter Chiarelli.
In a lengthy post on social media, Chu wrote that he stands by Lim and her decision to part ways with the Warner Bros. project. He said when he learned that Lim was unhappy with her initial offer, he — as well as studio executives and producers — made an effort to reach pay parity between the two writers. Lim ultimately declined the offer.
Chu said while he is disappointed that Lim will not be a part of the “Crazy Rich Asians” sequels, he added that he plans on working with her again, calling her his “sister” and “co-conspirator.”
The film — set mostly in Singapore and starring an international all-Asian cast including Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh — grossed $238 million worldwide and...
