There's a monster of mischief terrorizing the Babylonium. Well, more like a cruel foe sabotaging all of Veronica's efforts to make the theater a success.
Veronica's future in the movie business hit its make-or-break moment on Riverdale Season 7 Episode 9.
This chapter was a turning point for her story, so having most of the screen time focused on her plot was a pleasant affair. The same goes for Betty's steamy trip through her fantasies. An equal balance for two big stories.
"Chapter One Hundred Twenty-Six: Betty & Veronica Double Digest" chose a strong approach by narrowing the plots down to only be about Betty and Veronica. No distractions or side plots to pepper into the mix (except Jughead's framing device), but a clear focus on two main characters.
It's an interesting style because it helped wrap up some looming questions while pushing their plots forward with new hurdles.
Riverdale isn't shy about setting a chapter structure.

Vampires have done pretty big business in recent times with awesome ones seen in True Blood who like to screw, fight and drink blood to the not-so-awesome ones who sparkle in the sun like diamonds… ugh. One thing is certain though whether you’re a fangbanger or not — vamps aren’t going anywhere, anytime soon. What We Do in the Shadows continues to be a hysterical TV adaptation of the equally hilarious movie, niche arthouse films such as A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night bring a fresh, exciting take on vampire lore, and even Spider-Man’s best friend Ned is now Reginald the Vampire. And don’t get us started on Morbius.
In 2008, however, Swedish film director Tomas Alfredson thrust himself on the vampire scene with his widely praised film adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2004 vampire novel Let The Right One In. Alfredson’s wonderfully atmospheric film of...

Everything comes down to this, and Reginald got put to the test.
The vampire assessment took center stage on Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 10.
The biggest question of the episode: did Reginald pass the vampire assessment?
The vampire assessment took most of the hour, and Reginald exceeded expectations.
It all came down to the final two tests, and he needed to pass both of them to be able to pass mathematically.
Logan, played by the genre icon Julian Richings (Cube (1997), Orphan Black), turned out to be an extremely menacing vampire, but that didn't stop Reginald.
Reginald took many jabs at the head honcho, which caused him to get angry, but, as revealed later in the episode, that was the plan all along.
Reginald passed some complex tests throughout the exam, including the second to last one: transporting a nest of hornets across the room.

The search for the mysterious took center stage, and that quest put Reginald through some exciting tasks.
Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 8 showcased the quality of the show and managed to balance quirkiness and serious topics.
Although the lack of some important characters was evident, the adventure Reginald found himself on proved fascinating.
Reginald got put through a trial of emotions, all caused by Abraham himself.
Reginald grappled with many emotions during this episode, and Jacob Batalon finally got a chance to showcase his range.
Reginald's journey took an interesting turn today, and instead of confronting his real friends, he confronted his subconscious.
His subconscious brought him through most of the people that he hurt, save for Nikki and Claire.
His subconscious wasn't controlled by himself but by the vampire he was looking for, the legendary Abraham.
Abraham set up an elaborate maze to reach him, and Reginald confronted each obstacle with bravery.

Reginald hasn't had time to rest since he got turned by Maurice, and Halfway to a Threeway proved no different.
Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 6 saw Reginald dealing with a crazed lover, but not one that he expected (or wanted).
Nikki, played brilliantly by Christin Park, added a great aspect to the show that we didn't know we needed until now.
From Reginald the Vampir's Season 1 Episode 5's ending, to the interesting title of the episode, Halfway to a Threeway had some big and weird shoes to fill.
Thankfully, early in the episode, we get what we've all been waiting for: Reginald and Sarah share a romantic kiss!
Nikki's addition really added something special to the series and elevated the overall quality.
Nikki proved pretty crazy (she became obsessed with Reginald Very quickly), but she stood up to Angela.
Nikki: When my heart cracked open, I heard it crack.
Angela: Hearts don't crack.

Great comedy, fun reveals, and a new character made Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 5 the best hour of the season so far.
Halfway through the season, Reginald The Vampire finally found its charm, and we are extremely happy with this episode's evolution.
Reginald continues his journey into love while balancing his training sessions and work at the Slushie Shack, but there's an added twist.
There's now an assassin hot on Reginald's trail, hired by the ruthless Angela.
While we don't know the exact religion that Sarah used to be a part of, it sounds like a serious cult-like organization. Her brother, Levi, was prepared to kidnap her if necessary.
Reginald took a risk by glamoring him to leave Sarah alone (for good), which added another risky move to Reginald's constant carelessness.
Reginald glamored other vampires after being told not to by Maurice in Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 3, and now...

Our main character Reginald took the backseat on Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 4.
Instead, we got the much-needed backstory of how Angela and Maurice's feud started.
The emotions ran high as Maurice visited his mom's last place of residence, leading to memories getting unburied.
Maurice's feud for Angela originates in these memories, and all gets revealed during his trip down memory lane.
Interestingly, this story takes the forefront of the hour, with present-day antics shelved for the time being. Flashback episodes don't always go over well, but this one stayed on par with the quality of the rest of the series.
We still received some of the present-day storylines featuring the titular character.
Reginald continued to stress about the upcoming Vampire assessment, but the only problem? Maurice went missing.
No one knew where Maurice went, which left Reginald in a tricky position.
Eventually, we saw Mike volunteer to take over...

Reginald continued to make some waves in the vampire community on Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 3.
Maurice made a deal with an unlikely accomplice, Angela, that may change Reginald's future as a vampire.
This deal consists of Angela and Maurice setting Reggie up for a big vampire assessment to decide whether he lives or dies.
The vampire assessment sounded like an interesting event that we would love to learn more about, but that may not happen soon.
The discovery of Reginald's ultimate ability may lead to his death sooner than he realized, much to Maurice's chagrin.
In most vampire media, most vampires can glamor human subjects to make them forget they were fed on or do what they're told.
This proved to be true in Reginald The Vampire as well, but Reginald himself gained the ability to take it another step.

Things got progressively worse for Reginald on Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 2.
Reginald refused to feed, and then when he tried to feed, he couldn't figure out how.
This led to his life being at risk, along with everyone around him!
Reginald's love life also took a few steps backward, and Sarah recovers from a Glamor.
The episode's quality ticked up a bit from the premiere, but it still felt like mainly setup.
Reginald's issue with feeding took the forefront of the hour, and he struggled with the prospect.
He tried to feed on multiple people, but it didn't work. He even got punched in the face by one of the guys!
The humor used to address Reginald's feeding issue was brilliant, as normally vampires don't have an issue feeding on whomever to get their sustenance.
Without Maurice's help, Reginald ended up finding the perfect victim to feed off of...

Since launching his acting career in 2016, Jacob Batalon has stood side by side with serial killers, a knight errant, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But for his latest project, the Hawaii native is stepping into the spotlight to redefine what it means to be a vampire. Before he took the stage at this year's New York Comic Con alongside his fellow cast and crew, we had the chance to speak to Batalon about "Reginald the Vampire," the new series on Syfy about a newly minted vampire unlike we've ever seen before in media, one who has just as much trouble with his undead life as he did while he was still alive.
In our brief conversation, we touched on body positivity, representing his culture throughout his filmography, and what really drew him to the character of Reginald Andres. Plus, we get into their decision to alter the original name of Johnny B. Truant...

“He’s just different than any other vampire I’d ever seen, and any other hero,” says Reginald the Vampire writer Harley Peyton about the titular character of the new Syfy dramedy. “And usually in those stories, he would be the next-door neighbor, the comic relief, the sidekick, but in our story, he’s the hero.” Stars Jacob Batalon (Reginald), Em Haine (Sarah Kinney), Savannah Basley (Angela Hibbert), alongside series director Jeremiah Chechik and Peyton, sat down with Emily Aslanian in the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine New York Comic Con 2022 suite. They revealed what attracted them to the series, adapted from the Fat Vampire books by Johnny B. Truant, how each character feels toward Reginald and their dynamics with him in the show. “We don’t fall in love with the romanticism of vampires, we sort of poke fun at it,” Batalon said in the video above. “So that’s a great thing.

Vampires seem to be making a comeback on the small screen, and Syfy brings a comedic entry into the resurgence.
Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 1 managed to provide some light-hearted vampire fun while staying true to vampires.
While its seriousness is still evident, we can appreciate its fun in a time when serious (Let The Right One In) or sexual (Interview With a Vampire) vampires seem to reign.
The premiere set up the entire season well but didn't do much else to draw us in.
Jacob Batalon portrays Reginald wonderfully, and we hope the show improves as the season leaves setup mode.
In a world full of remakes and reboots, the freshness of Reginald the Vampire provides a brilliant sign of relief.
Based on Johnny B. Truant's novel, Fat Vampire, the series follows Reginald as he becomes a vampire and deals with the internal politics that reflect his real-world issues.

Reginald the Vampire is Syfy‘s latest series focused on the nocturnal creature that goes bump in the night, but actor Jacob Batalon promises the titular character is different from the rest. Based on the Fat Vampire novels by Johnny B Truant, the series delves into the deeper aspects of Reginald beyond his newfound need to suck blood, some of which the actor relates to on a personal level. “My girlfriend and I read the first book … and I very much related to Reginald on such a deep level,” the 25-year-old said in a call with reporters ahead of the premiere, adding that the first season is based largely on the first book in the series. “I felt like just as an actor, preparing for it emotionally and mentally very much meant that I had to really deep like dig into the sort of past insecurities that I would have about myself.

This Reginald the Vampire review contains no spoilers.
For years, frightened mortals have been driving stakes into hungry creatures of the night, beautiful, but deadly in their eternal allure. Often coming up dry, results are universally messy, and mostly unappetizing. Now Syfy sticks a straw into the heart of the vampire mystique, and it’s yummier than it sounds. Reginald the Vampire stars Jacob Batalon as the new bloodsucker on the block, and he’s fairly gluttonous. Best known for playing Spider-Man’s best friend Ned Leeds, he is now buddying up with the undead, and battling the genre’s most insidious stereotypes.
The series is based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire novels, and it is a well-balanced horror-comedy meal, fairly lean, even. Vampires have always been portrayed as sexy beasts, ready to feed on an already enraptured prey, caught in the thrall of supernatural sensuality. Reginald sprinkles garlic on that stereotype,...

The specific rules of vampirism will vary from franchise to franchise. Some burn in sunlight while others merely sparkle; some sequester themselves into elaborate caste-based societies while others just sort of lounge around Staten Island. One quality shared by the vast majority of these vampires, however, is that they’re hot, by the most stringent standards of our human society — graced with flawless skin, chiseled cheekbones and, above all, slim, toned physiques.
Reginald (Jacob Batalon), the title character of Syfy’s new comedy Reginald the Vampire, is not hot. His not-hot-ness is neither up for debate nor incidental; it is explicitly the premise of the series, which Harley Peyton has adapted from the Fat Vampire book series by Johnny B. Truant. In theory, it’s a chance to toy with a well-trod genre, to put a fresh spin on the clichés that define it to this day.
