“Elite” Season 8, which is currently in production at Netflix, will be the long-running Spanish teen drama’s last. The news was confirmed by the streamer via social media.
“We ended on a high note,” creator Carlos Montero said during a press conference. “Jaime [Vaca, co-showrunner for season 7], Netflix and I thought it was time to end it. I say this with great regret because it’s been several incredible years in which I’ve met wonderful actors, we’ve worked with all the directors we wanted to work with and we’ve had the luxury of having Maribel these last two seasons. Élite changed everyone’s life, there are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to be now world stars, it is happening to this cast and it is a pride to have contributed to that and to know that they have seen us all...

Netflix’s popular drama Élite will soon return for its seventh season, and the series is getting a shakeup from Brazilian pop star Anitta. “A girl from Rio that you might already know… is about to make an entrance into Las Encinas,” the official account for the show shared on Twitter announcing casting.

Ahead of the premiere of Elite Season 6, the official social media accounts for the Netflix hit confirmed Tuesday that the show has been renewed for a seventh season.
Netflix shows rarely make it past their first few seasons, so Elite will be joining the likes of Orange is the New Black as one of the longest-running shows on the service.
Netflix has not confirmed the renewal, but given that the social media channel for the show has confirmed the cast of Elite Season 7, it's about as official as we'll get.
The most shocking part of the announcement is the news that Omar Ayuso, who played Omar Shanaa for the first five seasons, is returning.
No details have been revealed about what brings him back into the fold, but it's possible we might get some answers on Elite Season 6 (premiering November 18).
Additionally, it sounds like we're getting another major revamp for Elite Season 7.

“After Samuel’s death, Las Encinas faces a new school year trying to have a facelift by covering up disasters of the past,” reads the official synopsis. “However, the conflict in its classrooms is systemic: racism, sexism, domestic abuse or Lgtbi-phobia are just a few of the difficult issues that will run through the hallways of the prestigious institution this season. Elite is heating up as it heads into its fifth season.
Netflix on Wednesday dropped an exciting first trailer for the new season, premiering Friday, April 8.
It teases a lot of drama in the aftermath of Armando's death, and a body even pops to the surface of the lake at one point.
With Guzman gone and some of his classmates helping hide the body, who will go down?
The trailer certainly wants us to think that Samuel will go down, but we also know that Rebeca is suffering from tremendous guilt.
Could she be the one that cracks and tells the truth?
Then again, everyone involved will probably be in for a long stint behind bars.
Samuel is clearly getting more immersed in Ari's world than before, and it's clear her father wants to reel him in.
Then there's Omar, who is still trying to come to terms with his parting of ways with Ander.
