Director: Charlie Steeds. Writer: Christopher Lombard. Cast: Kate Davies-Speak, Mark McKirdy, Natalie Martins, Makenna Guyler, Matt Swales and Kane Surry. Barge People is the third film from United Kingdom director Charlie Steeds (Escape from Cannibal Farm). Another Dark Temple Motion Pictures production, this feature was completed in 2018 and released later that year, in London. Finally in North America, this indie horror title delivers a decent synth' soundtrack to a boat trip, gone very wrong. Meanwhile, writer Christopher Lombard knows his horror well and brings in elements of Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) here, with a cannibal family stalk-and-chase. The make-up effects are spot-on, while the initial set-up is a bit slow. This viewer liked Barge People more on the second playthrough, with the film offering a bloody good time along a deadly canal. Sam Benjafield's music consistently gels well with the film. The soundtrack moves from softer melodies,...

Stars: Kate Davies-Speak, Barrington De La Roche, Daniel McKee, Yasmin Ryan, Esme Sears, Joe Street, Carl Andersson, Rowena Bentley, Peter Cosgrove | Written and Directed by Charlie Steeds
I’ve been a fan, nay Huge fan, of writer/director Charlie Steeds since I first saw his 2017 British-made pastiche of Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Escape From Cannibal Farm. Since then I’ve eagerly awaited each and every one of his films – though to be fair to Steeds, the releases of his film can be very haphazard. Winterskin debuted on DVD before The Barge People, which actually lensed first. Unfortunately, the UK release of the aforementioned Escape From Cannibal Farm remains in limbo thanks to 88 Films buying the rights and then deciding to focus on re-releasing cult films rather than new movies and sitting on it for 2 years (so far).
I finally got to see An English Haunting, Steeds’ take...

Scare season starts early in 2018 with High Octane Pictures’ Cannibal Farm (aka Escape From Cannibal Farm) – which opens for slicing and dicing on January 2nd!
From filmmaker Charlie Steeds and starring Kate Marie Davies, Barrington De La Roche, David Lenik, Rowena Bentley, Toby Wynn-Davies, and Peter Cosgrove, Cannibal Farm is a terrifying, bloody British mix of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and two gallons of two stroke!
The Harver family head out on an idyllic summer camping trip where they can bury past tensions and enjoy some family bonding. But when their camp is sabotaged by an unseen intruder in the night, they head to the nearby creepy old farm desperate for help, where vengeful farmer Hunt Hansen and his hideously deformed son aren’t farming animals…
Cannibal Farm comes to VOD across the Us from January 2nd, courtesy of High Octane Pictures. Check out the trailer and...

One all-female punk rock band. One Boeing 737. One horde of creepy creatures brought to life using practical puppet effects. If you now have a smile on your face wide enough to rival Jack Torrance's grin, then you'll likely be a big fan of what director Geoff Harmer has in store for his next short film, Dead Air.
Written by Peter Hearn (the filmmaker behind Scrawl), Dead Air is planned as a proof of concept short that will be one big step towards getting a feature film version made. Today, Harmer and Hearn launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dead Air, giving horror fans insights into their love letter to ’80s practical effects and flat-out fun horror comedies. To learn more, check out the official press release, concept art, and video below, and visit the official page for the Kickstarter campaign.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Doghouse Pictures. Director: Brini Amerigo. Writers: Brini Amerigo, Andrea Cavaletto and Marco Palese. Cast: Danny Cutler, Alex Lucchesi, Alex Southern and Kate Marie Davies. Beautiful People is a film from Rome, Italy. The film features practical effects and it will be released by Raven Banner Entertainment, shortly. The film also blends two horror sub-genres: the zombie film and the home invasion thriller. The blend of genres works here, but, Beautiful People is no Funny Games (2007), nor 28 Days Later (2002). Instead, the film stumbles to find a relevant reason for all of its violence. The character Brett (Alex Southern) tries to find a moral compass and fails. All of the other characters are even more amoral. In the end, Beautiful People is an exercise in depravity. One review mentioned that Beautiful People is nihilistic. However, the trio of writers have introduced...
