“Chutiyon se bhara padaa hai yeh ghar,” Vijay Raaz observes midway through this mishmash of the worse and the worst. That Subhash Ghai should come to this is a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions.
Not that anyone in this , hands-down Ghai’s worst production to date, has ever heard of Shakespeare. The characters are a bunch of buffoons and clowns , titivated with no redeeming qualities except that they can keep a straight face even when confronted with one of the dumbest most witless screenplays that actors have ever been given to read ever seen the motion picture was invented.
If Lumiere were to see what his dream has come to , he would slash his wrist.

Flamboyant Indian filmmaker Subhash Ghai, known for several big Bollywood hits from the 1970s through the 2000s, has entered the world of streaming with film “36 Farmhouse.”
The film is produced by Zee Studios and Ghai’s Mukta Arts, the company behind iconic films “Karz” (1980), “Hero” (1983), “Karma” (1986), “Ram Lakhan” (1989), “Saudagar” (1991), “Khalnayak” (1993), “Pardes” (1997) and “Taal” (1999), all directed and produced by Ghai.
In his pomp, Ghai directed a virtual who’s who of Bollywood including Dilip Kumar, Raaj Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Nutan.
In “36 Farmhouse” Ghai tackles a topical tale born out of the several Covid-19 induced lockdowns India has endured over the past 18 months. It follows a father-son pair of migrant workers who on the way back to their native village during the pandemic shutdown find jobs at a lavish farmhouse owned by a rich lady.

Mukta Arts next film venture 36 Farm House was launched in Lonavala. The film is directed by Gujarati filmmaker Vipul Mehta, who has given the biggest grosser to Gujarati cinema ever with his comedy-drama film Chaal Jeevi Laiye, running for 75 weeks in cinema halls .
Speaking on this announcement, Subhash Ghai said , “Like all our mahurats which Mukta Arts is known for , we launched the film today in Lonavala with the entire starcast. An actor playing the granny Madhuri Bhatia in the film gave the mahurat clap to the youngest heroine Barkha Singh and the director broke the auspicious cocunut while I switched on the camera”.
He added, “ We have been working vigorously on developing stories and scripts for the last four years for Mukta Arts and we are very happy to go on floors with our first venture 36 Farmhouse.”

The inaugural edition of International Film Festival of Colombo, the first major international film festival to be held in Sri Lanka, will screen a special package of Indian films curated by DearCinema.
The festival, to be held from September 2-7, is being organized by the Directors’ Guild of Sri Lanka with the support of Okinawa International Movie Festival in Japan.
The package comprises of award-winning and festival-favourite Indian films like Kanu Behl’s Titli, Avinash Arun’s Killa, Anup Singh’s Qissa, Nagraj Manjule’s Fandry, Geethu Mohandas’ Liar’s Dice, Kaushik Ganguly’s Apur Panchali, Jahnu Barua’s Ajeyo, Shilpa Ranade’s The World of Goopi and Bagha and Rajeev Ravi’s Annayum Rasoolam.

Kaafiron Ki Namaaz
Kaafiron Ki Namaaz (The Virgin Arguments), an independent feature film directed by Ram Ramesh Sharma, has been selected in the International Competition section of the 15th Jeonju International Film Festival to be held in South Korea from 1- 10 May.
Scheduled to have its international premiere at the festival, Kaafiron Ki Namaaz is a thriller that tells the story of three men- a recently court-martialed army officer, a writer and his camera assistant- who have a dramatic conversation as the camera assistant becomes a mute spectator to what turns out to be a chilling meeting between the two.
Debutante director Ram Ramesh Sharma studied Cinematography in Whistling Woods International Film School. The film has been produced by Bhargav Saikia, under his banner Lorien Motion Pictures, set up in 2011.
Geethu Mohandas’ Liar’s Dice will also be screened at Jeonju, out of competition.
