While the franchise started losing its appeal as time passed, Disney still found massive success with its Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Johnny Depp deserves much of the credit for that, but Amber Heard's allegations of domestic violence and a series of messy court battles led to Disney scrapping plans for a sixth movie. Depp's Hollywood career was put on hold and the studio went back to the drawing board with the franchise.
It's unclear exactly who is developing the next iteration, though the expectation is that the spotlight will shift to another character in place of the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow.
Talking to Et Online, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer made it clear that, he at least, is willing to bring Depp back into the fold.
"If it was up to me, of course. I love having Depp," he said. "He's a great actor and good friend.

While we pray for that, Orlando Bloom has decided to make us a little nostalgic by revealing how Johnny Depp crafted the character Jack Sparrow and got him to be so good fans couldn’t help but fall in love.

For years, fans have been asking for a follow-up to the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” and while the news surrounding it has come and gone – remember the one that Margot Robbie would have helmed? – there’s now a clear answer for all those who want to hit the high seas once more.
Sadly, it won’t be with the same characters that we’ve grown to know and love, but it will hopefully not affect our happiness levels as we enjoy the new adventures.
Filming For A “Pirates of the Caribbean” Reboot Set To Begin Next Year With Completed Script
No, this is not one of those false alarms, and while we know shows have been cancelled right after a script has been completed and characters even announced, there’s a better chance of this happening as studio execs are said to be enthusiastic about the new project.

Johnny Depp’s Tattoos For Pirates Of The Caribbean! ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Johnny Depp has played some really versatile characters, but our favorite will always be Captain Jack Sparrow. He delivered a $4.5 billion franchise for Disney but was abandoned the minute he was accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. But do you know the superstar has five tattoos dedicated to his iconic role? Scroll below for all the details!
Many wouldn’t know, but Disney wasn’t convinced with Johnny’s portrayal as Jack Sparrow. They believed he was ruining the character and even ended up speculating if he was gay. While the studios were scared that the film would tank at the box office, it received massive praise upon release.

Johnny Depp may have disassociated himself from Pirates Of The Caribbean, but his love for Captain Jack Sparrow will live forever.

They may be rascals, and scoundrels, and villains, and knaves, but it’s impossible to say that pirates aren’t fun to watch — at least on screen. And of course, there is perhaps no pirate more famous in pop culture at this point than Jack Sparrow, the bumbling, drunken heart of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
Known for never having a plan but somehow always ending up with one that works out, the unreasonably charming pirate was brought to life by Johnny Depp for five movies across nearly 15 years. In his journeys, he encountered the Kraken, Davy Jones, the Fountain of Youth, and even Poseidon’s trident.
But, if you’re here, you probably know all this. What you want to know is how to watch Sparrow and his pirate friends — including Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner and Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swan — in all their swashbuckling glory.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" shivered the timbers of many a film buff upon its arrival in 2003. By that point in Hollywood history, the pirate-led swashbuckler had laid dead and buried since the legendary 1995 flop that was "Cutthroat Island." But while dead men may tell no tales, dead genres can sometimes make a miraculous recovery, and that's precisely what happened when "The Curse of the Black Pearl" turned Disney's titular theme park ride into a witty and rousing action-adventure on its way to birthing a franchise that's currently five films deep.
With Disney actively planning to make a sixth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film and potentially a Margot Robbie-led spinoff at some point after that, those who are thinking about taking their first step into the world of undead buccaneers, fabled treasures, and all manner of mystical sea creatures (or those who have only...

Neill Blomkamp’s “Gran Turismo” movie from Sony Pictures packs all the adrenaline and all the emotions. Based on a true story, the film follows young Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) as he gets the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go from a video game racer to a real race car driver. It all started with Gran Turismo game creator Kazunori Yamauchi (Takehiro Hira) who got ahold of an automobile simulator and transformed it into a very real racing experience for gamers. Dreamer and Nissan marketing executive Danny Moore (Orlando Bloom) took the love for the game a step further by giving the best players a chance to go through a Gran Turismo academy to compete for the chance at racing on some of the professional courses featured in the game.

Yo ho, ho! But where is the rum? And come to think of it, where is Johnny Depp? Despite some serious calls for Johnny Depp to reprise the beloved – and often sloshed – Captain Jack Sparrow for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, some are casting their doubts on that ever happening.
Vince Lozano, who played Jacoby in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl – and got an ax to the back courtesy of Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner – told MovieWeb that he supports the idea of bringing back Johnny Depp for one more big screen and high seas Pirates outing but isn’t so sure it will ever actually come to fruition. “I think he deserves another shot as Jack, but I don’t think it’s going to happen, I’m hearing a lot of stories out there. The audience is there though. I do a...

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
Disney's most successful, new franchise over the last 20 years is far and away "Pirates of the Caribbean." Yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is bigger, but that was only made possible through an acquisition after the enterprise was already off to the races. In this case, this was a movie based on a Disney attraction that proved to be a gigantic hit, spawning a multi-billion-dollar series. Naturally, the Mouse House has tried to emulate that success ever since, but nothing has even come close. Beyond that, you could argue that every other attempt has actually been a sizable misfire. That streak looks to continue as Disney's new "Haunted Mansion" (read our review here) is in for a rough weekend.

Say what you will about Gore Verbinski's "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, but one cannot accuse the director of phoning things in. The first of the "Pirates" films, "The Curse of the Black Pearl" in 2003, was a grand ol' time, deftly wedding an old-school swashbuckler with elements from the famed Disney theme park ride and a wry sense of wit provided by "Aladdin" and "Shrek" co-writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. Over 654 million later, Elliott, Rossio, and Verbinski reunited to shoot a pair of back-to-back sequels in the hopes of bottling lightning two more times. The results, put plainly, are a lot, but again, the opposite of phoning things in.
Of the two "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels, it's 2006's "Dead Man's Chest" that presented some of the biggest technical challenges. The movie features two of the more inspired set pieces in the entire franchise, both of which involve...

The brilliance of David McShane’s short animation Come is in how it takes a common locale of queer cinema, the hookup, and shifts it into something potentially life-altering. McShane’s film follows the character of Finn who, after taking a regular route into a hookup, finds that his personal axis has been altered. Through the tactility of his painterly animation style, McShane is able to take us through Finn’s journey via a unique intimacy where every touch and motion begets a newfound meaning. Directors Notes is proud to present the premiere of Come today accompanied by a chat where McShane details the conversations with his flatmate that the film was born out of, the process of making his character models with acetate, and the joy he found in sharing his small, bedroom-made short with audiences around the world.
