- It just seems so strange to me, the way the media pits girls against each other to make sure there's always some battle like that going on. If one male singer was to make any kind of comment about another, it wouldn't be a 'cat fight'. It's incredibly unsubtle: you can hear people trying to get their headline, and I'm getting good at saying, 'I don't know, what do you think?' and they just sort of flounder. Nobody asks me about what male musicians I think about; I only ever get asked about females.
- I wrote my song 'Tennis Court' after having had a glimpse into the music industry, and I was thinking about how superficial people can be and how we put up all these fronts. It seems it's never cool to get too enthusiastic about anything as a singer, but I'm quite outspoken. I can't help but say what I feel, and it can get me in trouble.
- [on her own song "Royals"] It sounds like a ringtone from a 2006 Nokia! None of the melodies are cool or good! It's disastrous.
- I hate reggae, reggae makes me feel like I am late for something.
- [2013] One Direction are pretty overrated and their music isn't really good. I find it odd they're famous.
- [2013] I think there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn't 100-percent good, you're a 'hater,' even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique. People will say exactly what they think about a movie or a TV show, and that's fine, but as soon as you say it about a record, you're like some little zombie in a funny dungeon. I have pretty strong morals and opinions being in pop music, and I can't help but express those, which I think people appreciate. I mean, I don't think I say anything that isn't backed up. Most of the time I will stand by things that I've said.
- [Glory and Gore] Roughing up our minds, waiting 'till the kill-time comes. Oh! Oh! You can try and take us! Oh! Oh! But we're the Gladiators! 'Cos Victory's Contagious... Glory and Gore go hand in hand... That's why we're making headlines!
- So you be the Class Clown!/ I'll be the Beauty Queen in Tears./ It's a New Art Form, showing people how little we care,/ Yeah!/ We're so happy, even when we're smiling out of Fear,/ Let's go Down to the Tennis Court, / and talk it out like Yeah! Yeah?
