School's out forever. TV Land has cancelled its Teachers TV show after three seasons. Since there will be no fourth season of the sitcom, once the final chapter wraps up, TV Land will be without original series in its lineup. Parent-company Viacom began switching shows between its cable networks, as part of a larger change that also saw the former Spike TV rebranded as Paramount Network, which is where Younger season six will air.

There will be no fourth season for TV Land’s Teachers. The Viacom network is announcing that the season 3B of Teachers will debut on January 15, 2019, and it will be the show’s final chapter.
Following the recent move of TV Land’s flagship original series, Younger, to Viacom sibling Paramount Network, Teachers remained the only original scripted series on TV Land, leaving the network with no original series and no originals in the pipeline.
That is in stark contrast to January 2017 when a major Viacom restructuring identified six flagship brands, including Paramount Network, that were earmarked to get the lion share of financial resources, naming the others, including TV Land, reinforcing brands.
At the time, TV Land had seven original scripted series. Since then, it has canceled three, migrated four to Paramount Network and has not greenlighted new shows, bringing its original slate from 7 to 0 in less than two years.

TV Land is getting edgier, judging by its two newest comedies. The network announced on Wednesday that it's ordered two new single-camera comedies, Impastor and Teachers, with both 10-episode first seasons slated to premiere in 2015. "Impastor and Teachers are perfect examples of the type of comedies we’re looking for as TV Land evolves its original series – innovative, unconventional, and hilariously funny for an audience that enjoys smart humor with a hint of heart,” said TV Land President Larry W. Jones. Impastor follows Bubby Dobbs (Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum), a gambling pothead who, trying to escape from a loan shark, steals...

TV Land is the latest cable channel to green-light a TV pilot based on a web series. The Viacom-owned hub best known for its repository of classic TV shows has a deal in place with Community star Alison Brie, who will produce a pilot based on the web series Teachers. Teachers, which first debuted on YouTube in November 2012, is created by The Katydids, an all-female sketch comedy group that has performed at Ucb and Second City. The group gets its name from its six members, whose names are all variations of Katherine: There's Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O'Brien and Katie Thomas. In Teachers, the sextet plays instructors at an elementary school, where they must teach their impressionable kids while keeping their own lives in check. The 19 episodes of Teachers have collectively received more than 790,000 views on YouTube, with the Katydids gaining more exposure on channels like Above Average.

Jones. “The tone of the show is unlike anything we’ve had on TV Land. I’m really excited about the idea of building this unexplored world, where teachers are the eccentric characters you always hoped they weren’t.

TV Land has given a pilot order to Teachers, a comedy based on the popular web series of the same name. Community co-star Alison Brie is attached to executive produce the project, which revolves around six elementary school teachers who are trying to mold the minds and lives of America’s youth, but they don’t really seem to have their own lives together at all. From making their class help them stalk exes online to altering a grade because the art teacher is “kind of a b****,” these teachers are certainly changing the world, one student at a time. (Watch a sizzle reel for the web series below.) The stars of the web series — Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas — aka The Katydids (their names are all variations of Katie) – are signed on to reprise their roles. “From the second this project came across my desk,...
